🐾 New Year. New Friends. Same Mission. 🐾

Welcome to Pibbles & More Animal Rescue (PMAR) 💙
If you’re new here—welcome. If you’ve been with us—thank you for standing beside us.

PMAR is a foster-based, volunteer-run 501(c)(3) dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs (and the occasional kitty) who need a second chance—especially those most often overlooked. From urgent shelter pulls and medical cases to shy pups learning how to trust, our mission has never changed: save lives and help dogs find safe, loving homes.

Everything we do is powered by community—our fosters, adopters, volunteers, donors, and supporters who show up when it matters most. Because of you, dogs get another chance at the life they deserve.

Some dogs arrive quietly… and then completely steal your heart. Rain did just that — and today, we’re thrilled to share that Rain has officially been adopted! 🏡🐾

After everything she’s been through, Rain now has exactly what she deserves: a loving home, stability, and people who are committed to her for life. From uncertain beginnings to this beautiful new chapter, her journey is a reminder of why rescue matters and why patience, compassion, and community change lives.

Thank you to Rain’s foster(s) for giving her the space and love she needed to blossom, and to her adopters for choosing rescue and opening their hearts and home. This is what it’s all about. 💙

Congratulations sweet girl — your happily ever after has begun.

🐾 January Dog Owner Checklist 🐾

A smart way to start the new year with your pup

January is a great time to reset routines, check in on health, and set dogs up for success after the holiday chaos. Here are a few simple but important things every dog owner should focus on this month:

❄️ 1. Protect Paws from Winter Hazards

Salt, ice melt, and chemicals can irritate or burn paws.
✔ Wipe paws after walks
✔ Consider booties or pet-safe paw balm
✔ Watch for cracking or redness

🧥 2. Adjust for Cold Weather

Not all dogs are built for winter.
✔ Use jackets or sweaters for short-coated or senior dogs
✔ Limit time outdoors in extreme cold
✔ Dry dogs thoroughly after snow or rain

🩺 3. Schedule or Review Vet Care

The new year is a good time to get organized.
✔ Check when vaccines are due
✔ Review heartworm, flea, and tick prevention
✔ Schedule annual exams or follow-ups

🧠 4. Refresh Training & Enrichment

Less daylight often means less activity — boredom can sneak in.
✔ Practice basic training indoors
✔ Add puzzle toys or scent games
✔ Keep routines consistent after the holidays

🏷️ 5. Check ID & Microchip Info

Winter coats, weight changes, or lost collars can cause issues.
✔ Make sure tags are readable
✔ Confirm microchip info is up to date
✔ Replace worn collars or harnesses

🥣 6. Watch Weight & Nutrition

Holiday treats add up — for dogs too.
✔ Cut back on extras
✔ Measure meals
✔ Adjust food if activity levels changed

🚗 7. Practice Travel & Car Safety

January means winter driving and slippery roads.
✔ Secure dogs with harnesses or crates
✔ Keep a pet travel kit in your car
✔ Never allow free-roaming in vehicles

❤️ 8. Make Time for Extra Comfort

Cold, dark months can be harder on seniors and anxious dogs.
✔ Provide cozy bedding
✔ Maintain predictable routines
✔ Give extra patience and reassurance

Starting the year with small, thoughtful steps helps keep dogs safe, healthy, and happy — and makes life easier for everyone involved. 🐶💙

🚗🐾 January 2 is Pet Travel Safety Day 🐾🚗

Dogs don’t drive — so they count on us to get them safely where they need to go. In rescue, that means a lot of miles on the road. From shelter partners to foster homes, vet visits, and finally to forever families, transportation is a huge (and often unseen) part of what we do at PMAR.

Because our pups spend so much time traveling, safety is always our top priority. It only takes one unsecured moment for a dog to slip away or get hurt, which is why preparation matters every single trip.

Before heading out, we always make sure dogs are properly collared (two-finger rule!), leashed or securely harnessed, and microchipped with up-to-date info. These simple steps can make a life-saving difference.

🧳 A basic pet travel kit we recommend keeping in your car includes:
• Leash + backup leash
• Properly fitted harness
• Water & portable bowl
• P**p bags
• Paper towels & pet wipes
• Multi-purpose or enzymatic cleaner
• Blanket or towel
• Treats or food (if appropriate)
• Crate or seatbelt restraint (when applicable)
• Extra collar with ID
• Disposable gloves
• Basic first-aid supplies

And for our feline friends — cats should always travel in a secure carrier. They’re a major flight risk and safest when contained.

📥 Want an easy reminder?
We created a PMAR Transport Safety Checklist you can download and keep in your car.

Every mile matters. Every safe trip brings a rescue animal one step closer to the life they deserve. 💙
