Meet Dulci, he flew into my friend’s open window and asked for help 🥺 he had avian pox (not contagious to humans- in fact pigeons don’t spread diseases to humans but that’s another post!) and also had an eye infection. He’s been medicated for the infection and is receiving immune system support for the pox and is getting better now.
If you swipe you’ll see pictures of when he was found and then during recovery.

He has fought to get well and he succeeded, he’s so handsome now. 💚

Pigeons form lifelong partner bonds and are some of the smartest and sweetest animals around.

*we are trained wildlife Rehabbers. Rehabbing is not a backyard hobby. You need to be trained, have equipment and know what you’re doing. Please pm if you would like to know more.

** pigeons are NOT disease spreading pests. They are clean, smart and gentle animals.

These are some of the many gorgeous cats at the shelter I volunteer at .

They were either dumped, intentionally hurt, sick, run over, made to breed, and who knows what else.

These are the lucky ones who met nice humans who helped them. They’re looking for adoption.

This is truly an amazing shelter who holds the animals at the centre of what they do.

All shelters here in Portugal are struggling and at capacity. So if you know anyone in Portugal who would like to help by donating or adopting a cat please get in touch.

Cats in boxes😍
Cats sit in boxes because they find comfort and security from enclosed spaces. I always leave boxes out for them because all of mine love them💚🌱

Two of our last rehab patients. Baby crows are so affectionate and just want to sit on you the whole time, it’s very hard to keep handling to a minimum but really that’s what should be done with releasable wild animals.

These lovely little ones have now moved on to an amazing wildlife place.
We are eternally grateful to them. They are accepting donations for the many many animals brought to them. 🙏💚🙏

These crows were either injured or in danger (cats, dogs, foxes and busy roads normally) and that is why they had to be removed from where they were, otherwise, if a fledgling crow appears healthy, able to hop high up (even if not quite fly yet) to safety and the parents are around then they should be monitored for a while to make sure that they are indeed safe, and the parents are looking after them/feeding them. If everything is well, they should be left, they are always better off with their parents. The same applies to garden birds. Pigeons on the other hand, if grounded/ not flying always always always need picking up.

Crows are amazing animals, they remember faces, they partner up for life, they are able to make tools, and form family units where the kids from previous generations help with the upbringing of the recently hatched babies.

The only complaint I have about crows is how much their p**p stinks 😅😅

For the animals, this will be a place of rescue and a home for any and all animals in need, from hens, to pigs, cats, dogs and pigeons.

Hi I’m Timo. Let’s just say I have quirky napping habits 😹 I was rescued laying on a piece of cardboard, unable to move due to severe emaciation and an abscess on my leg. I weighed less than half of what I should have (scroll to the last picture - that was me then). I’ve come a long way now, eaten lots of food, got very spoilt and now my mum says we’re opening a sanctuary in the summer and rescuing other cats like me- can’t wait.
