Update about Truman, the Cape parrot. Truman had a shoulder injury a few years ago and he lost his ability to move his wings. Truman used to have a big tall cage and from what we understand, he fell down in it. We’ve been doing physical therapy with Truman for a very long time. 💕 Lots of vet visits with laser therapy sessions for weeks multiple times a week, then massages and opening his wings slowly. Encouraging him to take lots of baths, so that he flaps and builds some strength. Now after a couple of years, he is able to flap and jump-fly to my hand! 💖

Parrot DOESN’T Step Up – What to do? Respect their choice. Don’t force it. Wait till the bird is ready to come over. Use positive reinforcement clicker and target training to encourage your bird to come over.
