Supporters,
I want to reassure my employee supporters; I will NEVER throw you under the bus. I will NOT share your information. I will NOT share your specific store. I am here to protect and support you. We are the voices for the ferrets, but YOU also need a voice.
You have concerns, you have fought; You are no longer alone. We are standing behind you. I know that many of you have used your own money to try and provide enrichment. You've spent hours learning everything you can about the animals in your care, and I know that most of the display cases look the way they do because you arenโt allowed to change them.
I am asking you to trust me enough to be your voice too.
This is not your fault.

P.S: Atlanta, Georgia - This baby was so weak and thin, he couldnโt lift his head to eat. The full story will come soon, but I felt you should all see this heartbreaking, neglected baby struggling to get one of their most basic rights as a living creature; food.

Dear Petco,
Making a rule that people can't take photos or videos of your ferrets doesn't change anything... The tree still falls in the woods even if no one sees or hears it. Unfortunately for you, we have seen AND heard.
Go ahead, Petco. Tell people they can't take pictures and videos... Short of confiscating phones upon entering the store, this is a rule that can't be enforced.
I feel like this is an important thing for you to hear, Petco. As long as you have employees and customers, you can't prevent us from talking to each other. You can't stop the spread of pictures, videos, and stories.
You can't stop the signal.
Sincerely
Sarah
PS : I dont know if this rule is a store by store situation. I have heard it from a few states now, so either way; you look guilty.

Dear #Petco,
At this point, you will have seen our video of the kit attempting to drink water from the water bottle- if you were honest about wanting to know our complaints. That video was sent to me by one of my most trusted followers. This video was taken about four hours away from your corporate office in San Antonio, Tx.
This is Maeve's experience:
โAnytime I go to Petco, it doesnโt feel like Iโm โadoptingโ or โpurchasingโ- to me, itโs rescuing. I have never bought a ferret from Petco, I rescued mine off of Craigslist, from someone whoโd bought them at Petco. I went into Petco that day to look at supplies, and as I have done numerous times, check on the ferrets. At this specific Petco, I have seen ferrets covered in bright green diarrhea; I have witnessed crusty food bowls and horrendous conditions.
I was actually mocked by one employee when I told them how disgusting it was for them to even be attempting to sell sick malnourished ferrets. The ferrets eyes were crusted shut, and they had runny noses. These ferrets were small enough to fit in one hand, they could hardly walk- I wish I still had the pictures.
This time, I went in with the same expectations. I knew theyโd have sick ferrets and I wanted to see what information an employee could tell me about them. I approached an employee as if I was someone who wanted to purchase a ferret, and had never owned one. I asked the employee questions about care and recommended products. I took pictures and videos of a bug infested tank. That was not a cage, it was a tank. It was very disturbing to say the least. The employee, who will remain anonymous- let me hold them without a second thought- despite how easily these animals can contract illnesses from humans. They were small, and I could easily feel their ribs. I took a video of the conditions, and hadnโt thought about it until I saw Petco Do Betterโs post. I saw my videos, and it really hit me- I cried watching these animals struggling to receive their basi
