Arran Cats

Arran Cats A page where you can find information about cat care and welfare. We do not provide Vet advice/care Do not take offence our focus is always the cat.

This page leads on from its past history as a cat rescue to a new chapter of providing help and advice on cat care and welfare with some fun in between! It should not be seen as replacement for seeking veterinary advice and care. Where in the opinion of the page it is deemed that vet care should be sought you will be told in no uncertain terms.

Spot on and true.
The responsibility of rescue doesnt end with catching a cat but ensuring that its new home matches its needs and it will have the best chance of a long, happy and healthy life.

All the critics are out today moaning about our adoption policy.
It’s too much hassle having to do applications and easier to go out and ‘get one on the same day’ or we should home on busy roads because the people would be good homes.

Quite frankly, we don’t care what you say.
If you don’t want a home check then we don’t want to home to you.
If you want to go out and just get one straight away, you don’t care about rescuing.
We home over 20 cats per month and home plenty of indoor cats or cats that aren’t on busy roads.
This is in line with lots of other rescues who do this to give the cats the best chance and don’t save cats and help cats in their OWN time to let people just let the cats go out to get hit.

We wouldn’t home to people who don’t see roads as a risk or people who don’t see the value of applications, home checks and the time we put in around our work and families.

Are our cats missing out in homes with people like you? Absolutely not!

Please help.
Check sheds, outbuildimngs, vehicles, garages and rooms not in use but that might have a window open. Check your gardens and under bushes...etc in case she is hurt or frightened and staying put.
If you see her please get in touch with Helen at Dunvegan Guest House, Brodick, immediately. Even tempt her with food to keep her near whilst waiting for Helen to arrive. As they say in their post it is possible she got in a vehicle and is somewhere else on Arran in which case she will be disorientated and confused..a little kindness and food to help her stay nearby and contact Helen. Cats have been known to go missing for months even years , even here on Arran...so please help!
Such a beautiful girl!

Can everyone remain on the look out for Millie who was last seen on Sunday 1st September. It’s a real mystery that she has disappeared without any trace from her home at the Dunvegan Guest House in the centre of Brodick. Especially as shes not a cat that normally wanders far. She could have got into a vehicle and be anywhere on Arran by now. Her owner Helen is desperate to know what’s happened to Millie and has not given up hope that she will be found. Please get in touch with any possible sightings or information

FANG Has now been reunited with his family!!

FANG IS MISSING FROM HOME!!
Shannochie area
Stephen's post.....
Hi all, our 3 year old cat Fang has been missing for 2 weeks today from the Shannochie/Bennan area, he has been known to go off for a few days at a time but never this long. We are wondering if anyone has seen him around, he is super friendly even with strangers so it’s easy to imagine him trying to make himself at home in a nearby house, especially if someone was kind enough to offer him a snack. He has a dark coat with a distinctive white moustache, he is chipped and neutered. Any sightings would be greatly appreciated as we are now very worried and missing our boy a lot.

Please check sheds, outbuildings old vehicles, anywhere that a cat can get inside... check the back of the building...underneath things stored in there. Have you a holiday home here please check he didnt get locked in..one cat on island was locked in a church cupboard for nearly two weeks... so it can happen...
If seen or found please get in touch immediately

Update. Thanks to everyone who shared our post. The boys have now been offered a wonderful home together. We are so pleased for them

Unfortunately no one has shown any interest in Fred and George 😞 We would love them to be homed together and there must be someone who can offer these 2 lovely brothers the home they deserve 🙏

Let's find Millie!!!
Two weeks is a long time for such a cat as her. Has she perhaps got locked in a vehicle and then jumped out at another part of the island... please keep an eye open.
Has someone taken her in thinking she's lost... its ok if you did but she does have a home...lets get her home.
Wherever she is let's find her.

Millie had been missing from home for almost 2 weeks now. Her owner Helen from Dunvegan Guest House Brodick last saw her at teatime on Sunday 1st September. It is totally out of character as she doesn’t normally wander far and is kept in at night. Can people please check outbuildings etc in case she is locked in somewhere. She has quite distinctive markings so if anyone has seen her at all please get in touch with us or Helen on 302811
