This morning, some of the kittens are starting to explore their new surroundings and have found their way out of the nest. The bottom flap of the nests have a strip of felt that enables the kittens to grip onto it so they can safely get in and out. We also have 2 heat mats down, 1 is inside 1 of the mats, and the other is under the lovely handmade mat just outside the boxes. These will keep the kittens at the temperature they need to be to be comfortable and healthy. ๐บ
At almost 4 weeks old, kittens are starting to gain focus with their vision and begin to get an awareness of their surroundings. As part of our responsibilities to socialise our kittens well, we now focus on sensory stimulation for them through sight, sound, and touch. The amount and the type of stimulation increases with age so that when the kittens are ready to leave us, they are well-rounded and used to most household noises.
Meet Posh Beauty Dolls ~ George. He is our only blue mitted boy across both G & H litters. We can already see his temperament developing, and he is likely to be just like his Dad, taking on his good looks and his dreamy character ๐

Our seal mitted boy, Posh Beauty Dolls ~ Espresso (now Rollo) went to his new forever home 4 days before New Years Eve, which was when this video was taken. Rollo is 16 weeks old, and he is fearless of sights and sounds like this. This chilled temperament comes from having a great pedigree, and also because we play sounds, including fireworks through the alexa as part of raising them. We believe we do our very best to prepare our kittens for going out into the big bad (inside) world. ๐

It is with a trembling heart that we are likely to have to allow our little cleft baby who we have named Posh Beauty Dolls ~ Gino to cross rainbow bridge ๐๐ญ As you can see from the video, precious Gino has an obvious deformity around his nose and mouth, and his tongue curls up through his nostrils. ๐ฅ This is a severe mid-line defect, and due to him only being 64g when his siblings are all in their 90's, it is highly likely that he will also have other complications. ๐
It breaks my heart to see that Gino has his Mum's fighting spirit and appears good set of lungs on him ๐ but it is inevitable that he will soon start to suffer. ๐ฟ
For now we are keeping Gino warm and spending time taking photos of him with his siblings and Mummy but we have a vet appointment at 9:45 this morning where we anticipate our vet will advice the kindest thing will be to put him to sleep ๐๐ซ

Spending a bit of quality time with Vega Mrukando*PL. (Aka Peaches) this morning. As a breeder, it's important for the health and wellbeing of our cats that they get some 1-2-1 time with us where we can show them how much we love and appreciate them. ๐ This makes for a happy cat and strengthens the bond and trust we have with our babies. Yes, they are working cats, but first and foremost, they are treated like the beloved members of our family that they are. ๐
