Attention FHS Members

The FHS Board of Directors thought we would celebrate the new 2021 FHS website by giving members the opportunity to get some extra free advertising promotion & win a prize at the same time!

This is the time of the year for: foals being born, booking stallions for the upcoming breeding season, and people training in the hopes of being able to compete or go to an Inspection this year.

To help everyone strike a positive note after the Covid virus has ruined so much, we decided to have a contest!

We would like everyone to submit any 1 picture of their Friesian or Part-Bred Friesian of their choice and include a caption with it.
Submissions will begin April 1 and should be emailed to: [email protected]
They will be posted to the FHS website: https://friesianhorsesociety.com/news-links/
and we will continue accepting photos until November 30, 2021

We will then ask the membership to vote from December 1st-15th for their favorite picture and the winner will receive the grooming kit shown below just in time for Christmas!

If anyone uses the photos of a professional, please remember to get their permission and send us their credit information which we will display in any promotional advertising.

None of the FHS Board of Directors will be participating in this contest.

So, get creative with your photos, have fun, and possibly win a prize!

Good Luck

Your FHS Board of Directors

FHS Member Camilla Vance announces her stallion:

This is Dark Waterspoon 015 taken in January 2018. Here he is ridden by our wonderful coach, Christian Garweg, FEI rider, Glouster, VA. Elizabeth Hart is his trainer/rider, she too is an FEI rider, gold Metalist and competed in the Brentina Cup. She is located in Southern Pines, NC

He is the only approved imported EAFS Arabo Stallion stallion standing in the US. He is the first Arabo Friesian competing at the US FEI level. The EAFS studbook awarded him as 1 of only 5 stallions, recognition for his outstanding performance and breeding quality. He has EAFS approved top US and European foals. He just placed 4th at his first FEI show at PSG.

I am thrilled to announce that his 6 foals in November 2017 in NC, US were inspected by the EAFS (European Arabo Friesian Studbook) judges who gave them all premium: , 5 received 1st premium. The 4 yr old mare gained her Ster. She is now starting her training and will compete both under saddle and driving with Suzy Stafford, MD. The judges were asked by me to re-inspect the stallion since he was imported in 2013. They were delighted! They were thrilled that he clearly stamps all his foals with, “his balanced build, lovely neck and head, active hind, strong back and 3 strong gaits. Temperament is outstanding”

Dark Waterspoon just placed 4th at PSG at the April 2018 Tryon/WEG qualifying shows where he competed against the best national and international riders/horses qualifying for a space on their WEG national teams. This was ONLY Dark Waterspoon’s second show at FEI PSG! He was 11th at 2nd Open Level, 2014, USDF National Champtionships, Lexington, KY.

Our goal is to breed superb quality sport horses. I wish to breed to top quality warmbloods and thoroughbreds. We offer A.I. and will be delighted to consider a discount for these mares or multiple horses. His breeding fee is $1650 for a live foal. I am the owner; my cell #610-405-6054, or [email protected]. Dark Waterspoon has a face book page at darkwaterspoon015. His site; www. darkwaterspoon015 has a 2018 breeding contract for your information.

We look forward to to seeing you at the 2018 IFSHA shows!

2018 Inspection Plans

We would like to make 2018 a success for the FHS Inspection Tour! Proposed dates are September 11-20, 2018. Both site applications and individual inspection entries ARE NOW BEING ACCEPTED!! We are hoping that by taking entries along with the site applications we can better coordinate the needs of all.
Keuring participation is a valuable breeding, training, and marketing tool as well as a way to get stallions approved for breeding. Last year we got many requests for sites too late to generate enough entries to have the site pay for itself. (A necessity to have a site succeed in getting the judge(s) to fly in.) Therefore, we are starting EARLY! Start submitting your applications to host a site NOW! There is NO CHARGE to host a site. The requirements are listed here: http://www.friesianhorsesociety.citymaker.com/f/Requirements_for_hosting_an_FHS_inspection_site.pdf and the Application to host is located here: http://www.friesianhorsesociety.com/formhost_inspection_site.html

Let’s make 2018 a big Tour by getting those site applications in NOW! Again, the proposed dates are September 11-20, 2018. If you decide to host a site, we will be there to support you and help you through the process, so it is not a big deal if you have not done this before!

We also are now taking entries! http://www.friesianhorsesociety.com/forminspection_entry.html
They can be submitted at any time and you will not be charged for entries until the tour is confirmed. Plenty of advanced notice will be given that charges are about to be made. If you have adult horses that are ready for potential entry into the studbook or possible Star (3 years or older), you already know that you want them to go to an inspection! They don't have to have been inspected as a foal to now be inspected as an adult. Inspections are a wonderful way to have your mare evaluated by our judge(s) and receive a linear scoresheet that details the strength and weaknesses of your horse. This can be very beneficial in selecting the stallion that you would like to breed to as well as identify any issues that can be addressed with training. The judge(s) also are made available to answer questions after the inspection is finished for the day and this has proven extremely beneficial as well as informative to the members participating. Remember your Part-Bred Friesians are very welcome at our inspections and are judged according to their own standards located here:http://www.friesianhorsesociety.citymaker.com/f/FHS_PBBR.pdf

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact the FHS office either by e-mail: [email protected] or by phoning the FHS office: 402-298-7FHS (7347) which is open Monday-Friday, excluding Holidays from 9:00am - 6:00pm in the Central Time Zone.

Important Changes for 2018

There have been several significant changes within FHS that will affect many of you in the new year.

1. TESTING FOR DWARFISM AND HYDROCEPHALUS IS MANDATORY:
Any DNA testing done will now require the additional tests for Dwarfism and Hydrocephalus if these tests are not already on file for your horse. This is for both Purebred and Part-Bred horses. Foals that are a result of two verifiably negative parents will not be required to have testing. In addition, geldings are also exempt. Foals that have one positive parent will have to be tested as well as any foal who's parents have not been tested.

Stallions used for breeding have to be tested immediately, if they have not already been tested. Stallion results will be posted on the FHS website as well as this page.

It is beneficial to have breeding mares tested since their test results, if negative and bred to a negative stallion, will exempt the resulting offspring from testing. This will save the testing fee for any offspring of the pairing.

Voluntary testing can be initiated by contacting the FHS office and you will be invoiced based on your specific needs. Once the invoice is paid, testing will be done. Results will be provided to the owner. As always, call the FHS office if you have questions, since situations may be different from horse to horse.

2. As of May 2017, FHANA is no longer distributing DNA profiles to other registries free of charge. A request for DNA can come from the breeder of record or the owner of the DNA profile and the profile will be distributed directly to them at no charge. Other DNA requests will be charged a fee of $30 and the DNA profile will not be released until the fee is paid. If FHS is required to pay the fee, that cost will be passed on to the owner and must be paid as part of the affected DNA process.

06/06/2017

Attention FHS Members:
We have 2 Inspection site requests so far:
1. Plattsmouth, NE
2. Camp Lake, WI

Inspection Dates are September 16 - 23, 2017
The FHS BOD encourages members to not wait until the last minute to apply for site hosts. It costs NOTHING and if you wait you may be excluded as we need time to secure airline tickets for the judges.
We are also encouraging ALL members to complete their entry forms NOW! There will be no charges until we confirm an Inspection site! We need to start early to take advantage of the best airline flights to keep member costs down.
Take advantage of this opportunity to get your horses inspected. It can increase the sales value and is a valuable tool for breeders as they choose their perfect matings in producing our precious black pearls!
If you need assistance please contact the FHS office. The hours are 9:00am to 6:00pm in the Central Time Zone! If you get voicemail due to high volume calls, please leave a message with your number and your call will be returned ASAP!

2015 Inspection Tour

DEADLINE SET FOR ENTRIES

AUGUST 15, 2015

(Inspection Dates September 15-22, 2015)

The Board has set the deadline for 2015 Inspection Tour entries. All entries must be received no later than August 15, 2015. If you desire to participate, now is the time to get your entries submitted. Do not wait! Site hosts are still welcome as long as there are enough entries at the site to make it a go. Both the site host application and the related entries must be submitted by August 15, 2015. If you are interested at all in hosting an inspection site, please fill out an application online at Application to Host an FHS Keuring/Inspection Site The site host requirements can be found online at www.friesianhorsesociety.citymaker.com/f/Requirements_for_hosting_an_FHS_inspection_site.pdf. As always, you can contact the FHS office (402 298-7347) and we would be happy to discuss the process with you! You will not be alone in the process and we will have an FHS representative at each site.

Remember, while inspecting foals is important for breeder input, adults can and should be inspected to get their studbook papers as well evaluation for possible Star, Model, or Crown predicates. The inspection is open to all properly registered Friesians and Part-Bred Friesians, including D-Book and B-Book I/II. It is an objective, educated evaluation of your horse and his/her potential. The results can be both a valuable selling point and a guideline for choosing future breeding matches. Again, help and information is just a phone call away at the FHS office!
