We worked for over a decade to bring a low-cost Spay and Neuter Clinic to life, and in 2024, we made that dream a reality! We couldn't be more proud to announce that the Dubois County Humane Society Spay and Neuter Clinic performed 2350 surgeries in 2024!

Our Clinic is open to all area residents- no zip code or income requirements to come see us!

🌟 Update on Mom and Her Eight Puppies! 🌟

We're thrilled to share some wonderful news this holiday season! 🐾

- Mom has found her forever home with a loving local family, chosen by her original owner. She will also be spayed soon, thanks to the support of Springs Valley Pet Services, Inc. ❤️
- The puppies began their next big adventure today, on Christmas Eve! They were transported to a partnering rescue where they'll receive full care: vaccinations, deworming, flea treatments, microchips, and spay/neuter surgeries before being matched with their future forever families. 🐶✨

This is a heartwarming reminder that every pet issue can be resolved when we stay patient and work together. Thank you to everyone who played a part in making this possible.

🎄 Wishing you all a Merry Christmas filled with love, joy, and the spirit of giving! 🎅🎁

I would like to apologize to you for every animal rescuer you feel has ever let you down, been less than cheerful or said no to helping you. I would also like to explain to you why you need to extend grace to all of them. ❤️

They are all volunteers. This means on top of their normal lives (YES! Rescuers have jobs, spouses, children, friends, parents, pets of their own, foster animals, cars that break down, doctors appointments, grass to mow, laundry to fold, etc.) they CHOOSE to help people because they deeply care about the welfare of animals.

All day long they hear or read:
❗️Oh my gosh, please go help that poor cat right now!
❗️I really need your help! I've got 8 cats here and 2 are pregnant.
❗️I couldn't afford to get my cat fixed, but she is indoor only so I thought it was fine. But she got out and now she's pregnant. I need you to help me get her fixed and I'll give the kittens away.
❗️I need you to come out and get rid of all these cats!
❗️I just found five 2-day old kittens and the mama has rejected them. You HAVE to come and get them!
❗️I'm moving in a week so I need you find my cat a good home pretty quick.

While most of those sound like reasonable requests, the problem is "I need", "I want", "you have to". Guess what? We don't. We want to, but we don't have to.

It would be so refreshing to hear:
✅ I would like some advice as to the best and safest way to rehome my cat.
✅ I just found young kittens, what is the best thing for me to do for them?
✅ These cats have to stop breeding. What do I need to do to make that happen?
✅ I know I should have fixed my cat even though she stays indoors, but she accidentally got out and now she's pregnant. What is the best course of action to make sure this doesn't happen again? And how do I go about the process of rehoming the kittens and making sure they are properly vetted?
✅ I found a stray cat that needs medical help. May I come pick up a trap and if I catch him, what do I do next?

You see, rescuers are no different than you. They are just regular folks with a little more knowledge (that they are always happy to share with you!) as well as supplies you may need (that they are happy to loan out!). But there's only a handful of people doing this and they can't be everywhere at once. You have to realize they are dealing with multiple situations and locations DAILY. That's where you have to step in and offer to help them! Afterall, you wouldn't be reaching out to them if you didn't care about the animal as well. You can be just as valuable to that animal in need as they can with the right guidance and supplies. Be that "somebody" the kitty needs.

If you’re a farm animal lover and would like to donate a toy or two, Lisa’s Little Dream Farm Sanctuary located in Hardinsburg would be so grateful. Share, like, and follow their amazing fun filled lives they now have.

Lucy and I wanted to put this out there . I have been told I should not have toys on my Amazon wish list . Let me do a little education toys are very important to rescue animals it provides mental and physical stimulation. Toys can help reduce stress and anxiety, encourages exercise etc, etc, I could go on and on but I will not. There's so much rescuers have to deal with behind the scenes some days I let people get to me but today's not one. Have a blessed and happy weekend everyone to the supporter's thank you from each and every baby. Just like it takes a village to raise children it takes a huge village to keep a sanctuary going and animals happy

This is one (of the 200) reasons to get your male cat neutered. Mating is not a pleasant experience for the female and sparing her any hook up will be to her benefit. One male can be responsible for 2500 kittens every year & we all cringe at the sound of males fighting over territory or females. Then there's the injuries they sustain during those fights. That's if they don't get hit on the road while searching for females. Give them all a break and get them spayed and neutered. 😸💕

Wow! What a huge accomplishment and difference this will make for the Southern Indiana pet population.

It was another milestone day at the DCHS Spay and Neuter Clinic! Miss Rosie was our 2,000th Surgery since opening in February! Rosie just so happened to also be part of our feral cat grant program too United Spay Alliance! Making steps everyday to end over population in our area.

Such a big thank you to our dream team! Shelby, Kaia, Kaylynn, and Dr. Renner! ❤️🐾

⏳ Grant funding is still available (for a limited time) for this program for Indiana cats. No voucher or coupon is needed. If you are feeding outside cats, this is an excellent opportunity to get them vetted for NO COST to you.

Paoli Pet Pals have taken advantage of this opportunity 👏. This keeps unadoptable cats out of the shelter and improves their quality of life! 😸

To schedule appointments, leave a message at the number on the flyer. Drop off/pick up times are in the evenings. Traps are required. (We have a few to loan for this - reserve as soon as you get an appointment).

Caretakers in Indiana: Funding is still available for trap-neuter-return services through Alley Cat Advocates. Contact us to find out how to schedule your no-cost appointments.

We just welcomed this year's rescues #497 and 498 and intakes #1 and 2 from Petersburg into our care!

We’re incredibly grateful to our amazing rescue partners for stepping up and saying YES to these cuties! They’ve been transported to a loving foster home where they'll receive vaccinations, deworming, flea prevention, and microchips. Once they're old enough, they'll also be spayed or neutered before choosing their forever families.

⚠️ Important Reminder for Pet Owners and Drivers! ⚠️

As overnight temperatures drop, cats often seek warmth under car hoods and in wheel wells, especially outdoor cats. Before starting your car, please take a moment to check for any furry friends that might have taken refuge near the engine. A quick tap on the hood or honk of the horn can help prevent a tragic accident.

Let’s keep our pets and local wildlife safe this season!
