ng routine care due to their fear of traditional in-clinic vet visits. We know that most cats are fearful of the in-clinic veterinary experience, and this is an understandable barrier to care. While we can never completely eliminate fear, anxiety, or stress, our Fear Free certified team members strive to ensure the most calm and respectful experience as we care for your kitties at home where they feel the most safe. Our services include vaccinations, testing, preventative care, integrative medicine, Solensia injections, select sick appointments, and case management. This is Vegas, one of our toughest cookies. When we met Vegas, she was 17 years old and her parents had never been able to touch her. They absolutely adored her, but taking her into a vet clinic was simply out of the picture for all those years because she was so fearful. When Vegas fell ill, her parents went looking for a house call vet and found us.

Getting our hands on Vegas was no easy matter. At the first visit, she found a very small hole to hide in and bit one of our team members when they were concerned she might be stuck. At the next visit, Vegas would not take the calming medicine and was actually climbing the walls. Eventually we were able to approach her successfully and sedated her for lab work.

When the labs came back fairly normal, we knew the next step was to send her for an abdominal ultrasound. So we returned the morning of this appointment to give Vegas calming medicine and put her in her carrier so her parents could drive her to the specialist.

Our journey with Vegas and her family was complex and rewarding. We were so happy to be able to help Vegas get the care she needed. As we worked with her, she started to trust us, and even started sleeping in the bed with her mom and enjoyed some petting! Vegas lived another 6 months, and when it was time to say goodbye, we grieved her like family. Her family was so appreciative and so kind to our team, and Vegas gave us many reminders of the magic that can happen when veterinary medicine is brought into the homes of fearful cats.

If you have a scaredy cat, know that we see you and understand how hard it can be to seek veterinary care. Know that when you need us, we’ll be here ♥️
