Having a pack of dogs that can play quietly is truly something special. Dogs that can entertain themselves without barking or causing a commotion are a true gift. It not only creates a more peaceful home environment, but it also demonstrates that your furry friends are well-behaved and satisfied.
When dogs engage in silent play, it showcases their intelligence and ability to control their behavior. It indicates that they are confident and comfortable in their surroundings, which reflects good training and socialization. Quiet play also signifies that your dog is happy and fulfilled, receiving the mental stimulation and exercise they need to thrive.
So if you are fortunate enough to have a dog that plays silently, consider yourself lucky. You have a well-behaved and content companion who brings joy and tranquility to your home.
It’s common for clients to express their confusion after picking up their dogs:
“I’m not sure why my dog was so tired when we got home.”
Wow, that’s a mystery to me too.…. 🤷🏻♀️

Some dogs really dislike baths, while others seem to enjoy every second of it.
..I find that my urge to bathe dogs creates a special kind of connection between us.
It’s pretty clear when a dog isn’t keen on the bath, as they’ll show some signs of protest. But remember, timing is key, and the location matters even more than the weather or the water’s temperature.
On a sunny day, I love to set up a table with a garden hose at the ready. I take my two *top* favorite WOOFgang pups and treat them to a nice wash and massage.
Here are Marty and Kuma, just having another one of their random days during their extended stay.

Today, I found myself asking the most inappropriate question at an unfortunate moment after receiving the news about a dog’s passing.
“Kumusta?”
In that instant, I was unable to formulate a more suitable inquiry, yet my intention was to extend my heartfelt concern for the parents.
This morning, we experienced the heartbreaking loss of a cherished member of The WOOFgang, who succumbed to congenital disorders and ultimately did not recover. Alongside Dobby’s canine parents, we mourn his departure and will always cherish the moments we shared with such a remarkable spirit.
Within The WOOFsitter residence, we had the privilege of witnessing Dobby flourish into a joyful and vibrant dog. Together with his parents, we explored methods to help him learn the art of sharing, engage in respectful play, and foster harmonious relationships with others.
In his final (dog) moments, Dobby expressed, “Such a beautiful place ... to be with friends ...”
Indeed, Dobby is now free.
Toffy’s latest homecoming was a pleasant surprise. His bag was filled with the usual medications and essentials, but this time, it also contained fresh chicken, carrots, and rice. What a delightful change! Toffy seems to be thriving like never before.
This stay has been unique. Given that he could barely see anymore, there were numerous times that he would bump into random items in the house. He would also stay in a corner once he reaches the spot and won’t move.. for long periods. He would bark to signal that he needed help. There are challenges to having a blind pet in the house, but the trick is, that you have to educate yourself to still give him happy senior years.
The key to caring for a blind dog is to establish trust and maintain a calm presence. Always let him smell you before touching him, move carefully, and avoid startling him when he’s resting.
This stay, I have never seen Toffy this carefree. He bounced like a puppy, and loitered a lot even after midnight trying to explore certain parts of the house. On nights that I had to do some tasks, he played the same of sniffing where I was in the house and retired to a spot when he would sense my presence.
We cherish every little improvement in this sweet old boy’s health!

Corgis are highly intelligent and natural herding dogs, so it’s important to keep them mentally stimulated and engaged. Teaching them tricks from a young age is crucial, especially commands like wait and come that could potentially save their lives. I suggest enrolling them in a training class once they’ve had all their shots and are ready to socialize. While corgis can be stubborn, patience is key as they learn. Remember to always have treats handy during training sessions, and consider using a clicker to help with the process.
DO:
- Start training and grooming early
- Reward good behavior
- Stimulate their minds
- Ensure they get enough exercise daily
- Make their kennel a safe space
DON’T:
- Leave them alone for extended periods
- Overfeed them
- Discipline them harshly
- Yell at them for accidents
- Socialize them with other dogs before vaccinations are complete
- Use their kennel as punishment
Remember, being a corgi parent is a continuous journey of improvement and consistency. Feel free to ask any questions in the comments, and I’ll do my best to help. Enjoy the cuteness of @bboythecorgi ‘s puppy photos in the meantime!
As dogs age, they become more susceptible to various diseases, such as arthritis, cancer, and cognitive decline. Not every dog will fall ill in their senior years, but it’s crucial to keep a close watch on your older furry friend, both at home and during regular vet visits.
Understanding the normal behavioral changes in senior dogs, knowing when to be alarmed, and ensuring your elderly dog is comfortable and happy are all essential.
While the common belief that one dog year equals seven human years isn’t entirely accurate, it does highlight the fact that dogs age faster than humans.
Veterinarians typically consider dogs to be seniors around the age of seven, although some breeds age faster than others.
Smaller dogs tend to live longer than larger breeds, so they may not show signs of aging until they are 10-12 years old. Conversely, giant breeds may start experiencing senior health issues like arthritis as early as 5-7 years old.
Although age guidelines can give dog owners an idea of what to expect in terms of their pet’s health, the most important thing is to monitor your furry companion for any changes in behavior or signs of illness, regardless of age.
I’ve been taking care of Toffy for quite a few years now and have noticed a decline in various aspects of his health and activities. Fortunately, Toffy is under the care of our dedicated dog parent, @patvalero . She has shared with me all the challenges, struggles, and expenses involved in ensuring the well-being of her elderly Shih Tzu.
At some stage, every dog owner will face this situation. Are YOU prepared?
The groomer’s ability to keep your dog comfortable is crucial. Some groomers have a special touch that can calm even the most anxious dogs. In our case, Cris is our go-to person for this! She takes the time to walk and bond with your dog before starting the grooming session.
Groomers know how to relax dogs by using a soothing tone of voice. Cris always asks for the dog’s name before starting, and I can hear her using it to build a connection with them.
Experienced groomers understand how to handle nervous dogs with care. They may use essential oils, pheromones, or even consider sedation if necessary to create a calming environment.
When choosing a dog groomer, word of mouth is key. The WOOFsitter trusts ONLY Cris for many reasons, and you can ask other dog parents or your vet for recommendations. Don’t hesitate to ask questions and trust your instincts when selecting a groomer.
If you prefer home grooming services, let us know and we’ll arrange for Cris to come by when she’s available.
What I enjoy the most about being a woofsitter is the constant flow of new experiences. From encountering different breeds to handling unique chaos, each day brings something fresh. And of course, there’s the special connection that forms with every dog that comes my way. Not all emotions or impressions are pleasant, but there’s always that one dog who brings a sense of comfort and happiness.
Matcha and I didn’t have the smoothest beginning. She entered my life with the energy of a typical Golden Retriever, surprising me with her playful antics on random occasions. She would pull on her leash during walks, team up with another mischievous retriever to relocate rocks from the garden, and nibble on things when she got bored.
However, as time went on, we both learned to adapt to each other. When things get tough and the house gets too noisy with the other dogs, Matcha and I find solace in each other’s company. Matcha has always been calm, content, patient, and accepting of everyone, which is a first for me among all the dogs I’ve encountered.
Happy Belated Birthday to the pup who has managed to steal the other dogs’ treats, my heart (and once, my water bill)!
Neutering and spaying have always been my top choices, but before making that decision, we opted to breed our beloved dog, Mily. However, finding the perfect match for her has proven to be quite a challenge. It is essential to carefully select both the right dog and the right dog parent, as the stud’s upbringing and intelligence are crucial factors in my decision-making process.
One fortunate day, I stumbled upon Irene’s Instagram profile and was captivated by the stunning pictures of her magnificent poodle. Without hesitation, I reached out to her to discuss the possibility of boarding her dog. This arrangement would allow me to observe how Emily would interact with a dog of similar size and determine if there was a strong connection between them. Fortunately, Irene was more than willing to accommodate my request.
When I finally introduced Giant Scruffty to Emily, I closely monitored their interactions to see if there was any spark or attraction between them. He made quite an impression when he entered our home. Despite the presence of two retrievers, his focus remained solely on Emily throughout his visit. The photos I captured clearly showcase the special bond that formed between them.
Observing Scruffty and Emily together, one can’t help but wonder, will they have adorable Goldendoodle puppies in the future?
When I was in the position of a dog parent looking for the perfect place for my furry friends during my upcoming trip, it was a whole new experience for me. I have certain requirements in mind to ensure their safety and comfort, which made the search quite overwhelming.
First and foremost, I always let my dogs play freely in a spacious area, providing them with nutritious meals and lots of love. Even though I don’t see my dogs as children, I still want them to be with someone I trust completely, someone who truly understands them.
It took me months to find the right person to take care of my beloved pets. I was determined to find someone who genuinely cared about them and could provide comfort, preferably someone who already knew them.
Luckily, @goldiigold stepped up and asked, “Who will look after your dogs when you’re away?” Finally, I found the perfect person. This hardworking engineer put everything on hold and took a long leave to look after my dogs. To make things even better, she had a retriever that Niko and Mily were already close to.
Thanks to Gold’s dedication and care, I could go on my trip without any worries. It was a relief to have found someone who not only met but exceeded my expectations. Knowing that my dogs were in safe and loving hands gave me peace of mind. I am thankful for Cherygold’s kindness and willingness to go the extra mile for my dogs’ well-being while I was away.
How long does it take a dog to adjust to a new home? Why do I have to pack one used garment in his bag?!
We get this question A LOT! And the answer varies depending on the dog. Factors such as anxiety levels, past trauma, and previous travel experiences can all play a role in how long it takes for a dog to adjust to a new home.
It is not uncommon for it to take days, weeks, or even months for a dog to feel confident and secure in their new environment. This is why I was initially hesitant to offer daycare services, as I wanted to ensure that each dog had enough time to adjust properly. Rushing the process could potentially do more harm than good.
By following the tips in this article, you can significantly shorten the acclimation period and help your furry friend feel more at ease within just a few days of being boarded. However, some dogs may be more anxious than others, and for these dogs, establishing a consistent daily routine becomes even more crucial.
Here are some common indications that a new dog may be experiencing anxiety upon entering our home:
1. Constantly following me around, no matter where I go.
2. Showing little interest in food or refusing to eat altogether.
3. Experiencing digestive issues such as diarrhea or constipation.
4. Showing minimal or no interest in playtime.
5. Exhibiting growling, barking, or aggressive behavior in unfamiliar situations.
These behaviors are all typical signs of anxiety. However, if your dog does not usually display these behaviors, they should diminish within a matter of days or weeks if I establish a consistent routine and slowly introduce new stimuli, one at a time.
Let us focus on the stars of this article — our newest pack members, Wendy and Lucy. As we prepare for their bedtime, I ensure that they have familiar belongings, such as their beds, treats, and bowls. MOST IMPORTANTLY, I provide them with a garment previously worn by their owner. This brings them comfort and reassurance as they adjust to their n
Once you bring home a Labrador Retriever like Butter, there is absolutely no looking back. Labradors are not just good dogs, they are TERRIFIC! Butter joined our family in October 2023 and ever since, our lives have never been the same.
She was as adorable as a chunky langgonisa, with a temperament that suited both adults and kids of all ages. She effortlessly mingled with dogs of all breeds and sizes, without any desire to be the alpha. From the moment she arrived, she became the heart and soul of our WOOFgang.
I wanted to share my personal reflections on the joy of having a Labrador Retriever like Butter:
- Labradors are energetic and enjoy going on long walks. However, Butter sometimes takes the lead and ends up walking me instead of the other way around, which always makes me laugh.
- They have a natural talent for retrieving things, and Butter has retrieved all sorts of random objects. From toys to ROCKS in the garden, she even retrieves water from the hose. She definitely has her own unique sense of humor.
- Labradors are great with children, and Butter is no exception. Despite her playful nature and bouncy energy, she is always careful not to hurt anyone when she jumps in excitement. I feel confident having her around kids.
- Butter is a wise thinker and has become an important part of our welcoming team at WOOFgang. She carefully observes and assesses each dog before engaging with them, ensuring her own safety and giving the other dogs space to relax before she greets them with friendly sniffs.
- Labradors are social animals and enjoy being around others. Butter has met almost every dog in our group, both regulars and newcomers, and she gets along well with all of them, even the more assertive ones.
-Butter, the heart and soul of The WOOFgang.
I’ve mentioned this multiple times before, but I’ll reiterate it once again: I don’t have any specific preferences when it comes to dogs, but I do have strong preferences when it comes to their owners. It’s crucial for me to assess whether my honesty and openness about my work will be valued and reciprocated.
During my conversations with clients over the phone, one thing that raises a red flag for me is when dog owners only talk about how amazing their pets are. I’ve had experiences where everything seemed perfect until the moment I actually had to take care of their supposedly ‘pleasant’ dogs.
However, this time was different. I had the pleasure of speaking with Bel and Glaiza, who are the proud parents of a Golden Retriever named Dobby. They were refreshingly honest about Dobby, sharing all his quirks with me, even the ones that might be seen as negative. I truly appreciate that level of transparency.
When I ask about a dog’s breed, it’s not because I’m specifically interested in caring for prestigious purebreds. I ask because I want to understand the dog’s temperament in order to provide the best possible care based on their unique characteristics. Interestingly, we’ve had quite a few retrievers under our care, although I’m not entirely sure why.
In just a matter of minutes after meeting Dobby, I noticed peculiar blue streaks on his tongue. It was clear that his behavior didn’t quite match that of a typical Golden Retriever. While he wasn’t fond of being touched unless he initiated it, he absolutely adored being in my presence. However, he tended to get a bit snappy around dogs that were too energetic for his liking.
Dobby truly cherished our one-on-one time, so I made it a point to spend most of the day bonding with him. We would do tricks together, establish a routine that suited both of us, and I even gave him baths, even when he didn’t ask for them. He was such a delightful companion, but it was evident that he needed more
In the pursuit of revolutionizing the way dog parents care for their furry companions here in the PH, The WOOFsitter house has gradually transformed into the go-to second home for puppies and mature dogs. It’s not just about providing a temporary shelter, but about creating a nurturing environment where these little ones can thrive and grow.
Educating puppy parents about the crucial adjustment period for dogs, which typically lasts a week, has been a key aspect of our mission. Recently, we had the pleasure of welcoming Teddy into our home for 8 nights. This duration allowed us to assist him in getting accustomed to socializing with other dogs and mastering the basics of housebreaking, while his own parents took a well-deserved break.
By encouraging dog parents to make reservations in advance, we were able to carefully plan and set specific goals for each furry guest. Detailed information provided by Teddy’s parents, including his likes, dislikes, triggers, and fears, enabled us to tailor our approach to his unique needs. The positive feedback received from his parents after our stay with Teddy reaffirmed the impact of our efforts in helping him overcome his anxieties and grow into a more confident and well-adjusted pup.

Are you tired of dealing with the hassle of finding random groomers at fancy grooming shops or going through the trouble of taking your large breed dog to a salon? Well, here’s a solution that will make your life easier - why not give your furry friend a bath right in your own backyard?
Believe it or not, some dogs actually prefer bathing outside, and for those big pups who can’t fit into your tub or shower, this is the perfect solution. All you need is a hose OR a clean baby pool and a warm day, and your dog can enjoy a refreshing splash while getting squeaky clean. Say goodbye to fur all over your house - simply brush your dog outdoors and let the sun naturally dry their coat. If your dog is a bit hesitant about the cold water from the hose, no worries! Just choose a warm day to make their bath a truly enjoyable experience. Even small dogs can join in on the outdoor bath fun, and the best part is they dry off quickly in the sun.
There are times when your dog will benefit from professional care though. Some dogs simply won’t be able to enjoy a home bath, so it’s important to know when to let the groomer handle your pet’s washing needs. Consider making an appointment IF:
Your pet has other hygiene needs
Your dog is stressed by home baths
Your dog is especially large or energetic
You don’t have the space, tools, or time for a dog bath

Once again, we find ourselves in the company of toy breeds. In early April, I had the pleasure of meeting Sebastian and Sherlock for the very first time. Sherlock, the smaller of the two, growled at me a few times, but I saw it as an opportunity to earn his trust. It was a busy day at my house, with people coming and going as we prepared our home for our family and the dogs’ play area. With the unfamiliar surroundings, the noise, and the chaos, it’s no wonder the little ones were feeling a bit stressed.
To start the day off on the right foot, we went for a nice 20-minute walk together. I asked their owners to hang back while I grabbed their leashes and led the way. It was important that the boys didn’t see their owners leave first.
When we returned home, I noticed a change in the dogs’ behavior. They were more relaxed, clingy, and affectionate. As I introduced them to the other small breeds, they stuck close to me instead of mingling with the rest. Even when my groomer, Cris, arrived earlier than expected, one of the dogs happily stayed for daycare while the other began the grooming process. They seemed anxious when separated, actively searching for each other as if in a panic. I made sure to keep the more aggressive one, who had growled earlier, with me and the other little ones. It took some time, but eventually, he began to relax in our presence.
After Sebastian’s grooming session, it was Sherlock’s turn, and I had the chance to play some tricks with the bigger, more well-behaved dog. Despite his timidity, he proved to be incredibly intelligent and attentive, and I cherished every moment spent with him.
Make sure not to wait any longer. Keep your furry companion happy and clean by booking an appointment with a trusted groomer from WOOFsitter today!
