On the way back home from an interferon treatment for Mustafa(next to last cat addition & who is FIV +), I saw what was either a sock or a cat on the highway during the evening rush hour. I was hoping it was a sock because walking across several lanes of traffic with only the two of us and a canvas shopping bag didn't seem like a brilliant idea. Karen circled back around, and the 'sock" turned his head. Karen ran across the traffic; I stopped the cars as she ran. The kitten ran under a car and into its wheel well, and the car began to move forward. I stepped in front to stop him, but Karen was sure the tires had crushed the kitten. She reached into the car's wheel well, expecting the worst, and plucked him out. Karen didn't make a sound as the kitten bit her over 40 times. She hung on to him until she dropped him into the shopping bag. We went back to the vet to get him evaluated, except he wasn't interested in any human contact. He jumped out of the shopping bag, hissing & spitting like he was going to kill all of us. This little guy was more ferocious than any feral cat I had ever seen. Because we were scheduled to leave the country the next day, we left him at the clinic with Rafaela, the vet's assistant who worked some magic, and three days later... he couldn't get enough of humans.
