Levi is one smart cookie! He learned how to drink from the bucket by the second feeding yesterday and he realllllly loves his hay! Keep growing, beautiful boy! We need you strong for surgery! ❤️ I’m exhausted from middle of the night feedings, but who needs sleep?! 🤷🏼‍♀️❤️

We have been contacted about another baby in need of surgery. He is 5 days old and has an angular limb deformity, just like our boy Wyatt. We need to raise the funds quickly so we can have him seen with Wyatt at Iowa State. With X-rays and surgery, we are looking at about $2400. The sooner we can get him in, the better. When you’re trying to pick up buckets for dinner and everyone is feeling that spring sunshine!

Tonight as I was preparing breakfast for the horses, I kept seeing one of our bags move. I have to admit I panicked a little….. until I got the courage to look inside and realized it was just our land shark, Penelope, getting ready to pounce at her next victim 🤣 Happy Tuesday!

Big day today! We just visited Claire and her harness is off! Tomorrow she’ll get a good bath and they’ll start walking her a bit too! We talked to her Doctor and we’ll be holding off on the ultrasound for now, but she’s on the meds for Cushings, Purina Amplify for weight gain, and Vitamin E. The Vitamin E will be continued for about a month and we’ll get her started on Equioxx too. She is getting the best care and we love her care staff at the U. Her doctor is very good at explaining things and we are hopeful she’ll be home by the middle to end of next week. We all want to make sure she can safely make the trip home in a trailer, so we won’t rush it, and keep visiting when we can. We still need your help, as you can imagine, it isn’t cheap having a horse at the University for a week or more, and her care even when home will add up. The Purina Amplify is about $65/bag. She will be getting fed 20 lbs or more of Purina Senior/day ($27/2 days). Her meds for Cushings is about $2/day. And her equioxx is about $35/month. We’re gonna try updating you all more on the horses in the rescue! Sorry for not doing much of that recently- ya get in the habit of the day to day stuff and forget to update! So, first up, we have our sweet, sassy Wyatt boy! We’ll be scheduling his follow up appointment at Iowa State for late March to see how they think his leg is progressing from surgery. Also, Ginger was trying to steal the show, so you get an update on our diva cat too!

This is our best boy Domino, who we had to say goodbye to, last summer 🤍🖤. 30 days with him was not enough. But it was worth every penny spent for those precious days. Alright, I’ve clearly gotten behind today! I’ll post the names tonight for voting and it will end Friday at Noon! On a positive note, our kids have arrived! Ever wonder what rescue looks like?? They were slaughterbound yesterday and today, today they realized they were safe!
