I said a difficult goodbye to Walley this morning. He fell asleep on my shoulders, which had become his favorite place as his illness worsened. I never wanted a Persian. A string of events found this tiny fluffball with a larger than life personality on his way home with me nearly 7 years ago. I’ve never seen a cat touch so many people, with followers on Facebook and Instagram. He greeted me at the door everything I came home, snuggled in bed every night, went for adventures in foreign countries achieving international fame, loved belly rubs, was part of the welcoming crew for any visitors, and always tried to be helpful. He had a ginormous purr packed into his 5lbs of fluff and used it often, frequently giving out kisses and snuggles. He was very brave, only terrified of bananas when he was young, but so sweet and tolerant. He could be a babysitter, entertaining even the most active of children, while never unsheathing a nail nor offering a hiss. I had hoped he’d make his 8th birthday in September, since he had been managing so well with all his health issues. But unfortunately his decline was rapid and after no response to various treatments, he just had nothing left to fight with. The hole he leaves behind is immeasurable. Sleep peacefully squishy face. 🐾
