Always & Furever Midwest Animal Sanctuary is incredible for so many reasons 🩷 One thing that I absolutely adore is that, for every meal time, one pup is selected to be sous chef. They get to ‘help’ and taste test the food first. If this little one’s wide eyes at the end don’t make you melt, I don’t know what will.

It’s going to be hotter than Satan’s a**hole here in the Mile High City 🥵, so here’s a friendly reminder to everyone, EVERYWHERE- all of the animals who visit your yard need cool, fresh water to survive this heat wave. Low profile, glass dishes tend to work best (you know you’re not using that pie plate anyway 😂). Change the water daily if at all possible. And place a few rocks in there, too, so the bees 🐝 can drink but won’t drown.

Love this!!! A little bit of water can make all the difference. Help save wildlife in this intense heat 🙌🏼

Temperature this week is going to be brutal, high 90s to 100s. Remember to help the wildlife by putting out containers of accessible water. Pans, dog bowls, buckets, small pools … anything that is refillable and reachable. If the container is large enough, like the small plastic pool I have here, place some branches in it so if smaller critters fall in, they can climb out safely.

A reminder to leave wildlife alone unless intervention is absolutely necessary.

Raccoons in your attic or crawl space?

DON'T trap and relocate. This separates families and causes orphans. Moms want to take care of their babies and you will cause her massive stress trying to find them of you take her away from them. And dumping her on another raccoon's territory will likely cause fighting as she struggles to find food sources, her babies, and a safe place to rest.

DO place a bright light in the area.

DO play loud music or talk radio in the space to encourage them to leave.

Momma raccoons always have several back up places to den, so let her move her babies on her own. Need more tips? Give us a call!

Flounder has been waiting at the shelter for a few months now! This gorgeous land hippo has a unique look which deters some people from giving him a chance. But what truly matters is what is in his heart! Here's what you should know....
* Shelter favorite cause he’s such a loving boy!
* Very smart with a fun, silly side.🤡
* Best sploot in town! He will prove it to ya!😍
* Flounder is working on his socialization but it is obvious he didn't have that opportunity prior to coming to HSSPV. Everyday he becomes a bit better and is gaining confidence.
* Approximately 3 years old and 55 pounds.
* Had a recent home visit with a volunteer who reported:
-good in the car 🚙
-mostly just wanted to nap in her lap🩷
-potty trained👍
-super well behaved 👍👍

🛑 EMERGENCY ALERT❗️

There is a woman in Chandler, Arizona who is hoarding and abusing/neglecting disabled dogs. Police and Arizona Humane are aware and have been for years - AND ARE DOING NOTHING!!! The very agencies that are there to help are saying there’s no proof. But there is proof, plenty of it. Watch the IG and FB stories and posts - it’s all right there. How can this be happening?! And now that she knows people are on to her she’s been reported by neighbors to be moving dogs out of the house - where to? No one knows.

I’m outraged and horrified. I’m providing contact info below - we need to inundate them with emails and phone calls. Hell, I’ll even go there in person if anyone wants to go with me. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE share this far and wide - we need everyone to be a voice for these poor souls. Please, do something now. They can’t wait any longer.

In Colorado…Still looking for love, this homeless Great Pyrenees, Pretty Boy, wandered up to a rural property to ask for help and ended up being chased off with BB shots to his left eye and left leg. The good samaritan who took him in is older, lives by herself and, although she got him treated for his injuries, feels that this 110 lbs. pup is too much dog for her. Despite being shot, Pretty Boy loves to be around people and ignores the resident chihuahua. To meet him in his Hudson CO foster home, apply to adopt at mountainpetrescue.org
