As the business owner of Wild & Rue, I acknowledge the responsibility of using my voice and platform to stand in solidarity with all oppressed people. From Palestine, to Sudan, to Congo, to Lebanon, to Syria, to Uyghur and the many other genocides currently happening, I see and stand against each one of them. I’m also continuing to stand with and fight for the Black community to see justice for the many ways in which they continue to be oppressed state side and abroad.
I encourage my followers to speak up for all oppressed people and stand on the right side of history. If you are looking for a place to start:
1. Contact your representatives and push on folks in power to demand the changes you want to see - I’ve found the 5 calls app (https://5calls.org/) very helpful for this.
2. Post about the various forms of oppressions on your social platforms & talk about it in your day to day life. Let others know where you stand.
3. Boycott brands funding genocides/oppressing people (Starbucks, McDonald’s, Pizza Hut and so many more).
4. Be mindful or your tech consumption, aka cobalt consumption - do you really need the latest iPhone?
5. Donate to organizations that are ALREADY doing the work.
6. Listen to Black, Native American, Palestinian, Sudanese, etc people when learning more about their history and calls to actions.
If other crafters would like to join efforts to seek justice for all oppressed people please let me know and we can form a group of some sort 💗
