Fergie is looking for a home
Fergie is a short term foster in Vancouver before heading to his foster spot in Nelson, BC. He's 6 months old and a enjoying cuddling in his first experience in a home. He is good with dogs, and is in foster with another dog. He's also good cats and well on his way to being house trained (hasn't figured out yet how to ask).
If you think you might be a fit for Fergie, he'd love to find his forever home. You can reach out at [email protected] or direct on our application: https://forms.office.com/r/b1Fkq3u4zw (check your junk mail).

Puppies!!
Spot, Tiny and Bella are just about ready to fly and hopeful they'll make it to their forever homes before flights cease for the summer. A kind Canadian took in a scavenging and hungry mamma pup found on a remote beach with a collar that had grown into her skin from being chained up before they dumped her. Within days of her rescue from this kind samaritan, she gave birth to 9 puppies, these 3 are now at the SPCA PV sanctuary in Mexico, with 6 others in foster in Calgary. They are chill dogs, very affectionate, good with dogs and cats. They were fostered in Mexico by their rescuer in a social home with guests and children, so they have been well socialized. If you think you might have room for one of these sweethearts, reach out to us at [email protected] or go direct to our application: https://forms.office.com/r/b1Fkq3u4zw

Welcome Fergie our latest foster!
Fergie has arrived and will spend 2 weeks in Vancouver in temporary foster before heading to his claimed foster spot in Nelson, BC. Fergie is a 6 month old lab cross who’s looking for his forever home. He’s good with cats and dogs and is looking for an active lifestyle. It’s his first venture out if the shelter so he’d like to start slow in exploring the world.

Special thanks to Amanda who kindly took him in last minute when the flight came up and our temporary foster fell through. Amanda and her PVCA alumni pup made his arrival possible. Amanda has done it all - adopted from us, been a flight angel and now fostered. Huge thanks.

If you think Fergie might be a fit for you he’d love to hear from you! ([email protected])

Thank you to our long time supporter and super flight angel Doug if Vancouver for giving a lift to Maple (adopted) and Fergie (foster). We couldn’t do it without our flight angels! Thanks Meghan for your contributions with transport, fostering and all kinds of logistics!

We couldn’t be happier that Maple has found her forever home in Vancouver with mother and daughter combo Winnie and Sonya.

Maple has siblings in Bellingham (Pancake now Tico), Port Coquitlam (Muffin now Paco) and Vancouver island (Waffles) and Marcy. Maple waited a long time for this. She was injured and so was held back for rehab. She may not be perfect but her family welcomed her with love and acceptance.

Tequila is just about ready to find her forever home.
She was found living a life on the street, scavenging to survive on garbage and is infinitely grateful to the foster who took her in in Puerto Vallarta. We know Tequila will be very popular as she should be! She is a 10 lb chi cross who is house trained. Best guess is she is 7-8 years old, but sometimes for a dog who’s lived on the streets it can be hard to tell. Tequila is good with cats and sweet with other dogs – doesn’t play with big dogs but doesn’t bother them either. She is friendly with people of all kinds. She is not a barker in her foster home other than to ask to go out when she needs to. Tequila will be ready to fly after March 30th. She’s had her teeth cleaned (and some removed already). She is spayed and vaccinated. This girl has a lovely disposition and she’d love to hear from you if you think you might be a good fit at [email protected] or [email protected] (Please check your junk mail for our response). We’ve found Fergie a foster home in Nelson and a ride in early April. Anyone keen to host in the lower mainland from late March for a couple of weeks until his chariot to Nelson arrives? He’s a young lab cross who will be venturing out shelter living for the first time. Or even better - looking for your forever dog? He’s good with dogs and cats and would prefer a quiet setting to adjust preferably with a yard. If you have questions [email protected] or [email protected]

As Chairperson of PVCA, I wanted to share some information that our adopters may find helpful. I have over 20 years experience in animal nutrition and homeopathy. Over those 20 years, I have accumulated a lot of learning and applied that to helping pet parents make the best choices possible for their furry family members.
I’m sharing some of my favorite things in regards to diet and supplementation in this graphic. Balanced Raw diets help pets live the best, longest life they can. I have seen it time and time again. Processed food takes a toll on organs (pancreas, liver, kidneys, heart). Fresh food makes digestion simpler and is “less work” for the body. It really is that easy. If you have adopted a dog through us and have any questions, reach out. [email protected]

Rudy is looking for a home.
This little guy is such a GEM! He is loved by all who meet him, and we found him the perfect home but due to a family emergency, he's now looking for his forever home again (not that his foster family isn't loving him).

Rudy was found near our sister sanctuary in Puerto Vallarta as a very young puppy, burrowed in dirt to soothe burns on his back. Despite this rough start, and early life in a shelter, he has such a great disposition. Rudy is good with dogs - he is sharing a home with a dog, which he loves. He's also good with cats - they make his bum wiggle happily, and he's lovely with people. Rudy has enjoyed life so far in BC - he likes hiking, the beach, and best of all cuddles at home with his people and other fur family. Rudy is the perfect size at 35 lbs... big enough for adventures, but small enough for comfy cuddles. He is smart, playful, and fun. Rudy would love a family for adventures, and has enjoyed having a home with a yard. He's fast, and its a joy to watch him chasing. He also enjoys sun bathing after a good play.

Rudy is healthy, happy, house trained and neutered. Rudy is a year old, mixed breed (lab cross?). If you think you might be a fit for his happy ever after, he comes highly recommended by all the shelter staff, and his foster family. We'd love to hear from you at [email protected] or [email protected]

6 month old, lab cross Fergie is looking for a home.

Fergie is alive because a kind woman would go feed a pregnant mama pup who was living by the river. She was sick a few days and when she returned, Fergie and his siblings had been born to their mum Lola. He is now nearly 6 months old and a shelter is no place for a dog to live out their days. Fergie is looking for a quiet home with a yard as it will be a big adjustment to life in the shelter. He is good with cats and dogs. Fergie is healthy and vaccinated, and fun fact - this is the first family of dogs we've had that have an extra toe in their rear paws. Its nothing that will hurt them. In fact some dogs bred for snowy climates had them. Guess he was also meant to be in Canada.

Fergie is hoping he gets the chance at a new life before the flight season is over from Mexico. If you think you might be a fit to foster or adopt this guy, we'd love to hear from you at [email protected], or [email protected]
(check your junk mail if you reach out).

Registered Charity that stands by our dogs for life

Federally registered in Canada since 2012, PVCA Animal rescue finds loving homes in Canada for dogs looking for a second chance in life. A sister charity to the SPCA PV in Puerto Vallarta, we rely on our dedicated volunteers to support the transition of these dogs on their journey to happiness in Canada. These dogs were failed in the past - abused, neglected, abandoned, but with the kindness of strangers, they have this chance. We rely entirely on donations and the kindness and dedication of our volunteers and those committed to adopting.
