PUPDATE - Rose
Today we had the pleasure of running into Rose in her happy ever after life in North Vancouver. This beautiful lady was originally found outside of Puerto Vallarta hiding in a corner with her 11 newborn pups trying to survive. Imagine the fear and anguish. The SPCA PV, already brimming made room for her and her 9 surviving pups. And here she is years later living an incredible life in North Vancouver. When I said to her mum how lucky Rose is, her response was, no, I'm the lucky one!

Who rescued Who??
Pancake now Tico is celebrated and loved everyday in his new life in Blaine Washington with his parents Stacey and Shannon. They shared this:

He is a lover of life! A true sweetheart, champion snuggler and 100% good boy through and through. I can't thank you enough for all of the socialization he clearly received while in your care. He loves everyone and plays well with all other dogs. Tico is VERY smart too. He has an independent side. He has chosen to sleep on the couch outside our bedroom. Curious. And comfortable. He's enjoyed camping with his nose to the ground sniffing everywhere on our walks/hikes, and his own special camp chair/loveseat so he can sit with us around the campfire. He's having a fantastic life with us. And we feel so lucky about all the love he has created for our family. He has brought endless joy to the family.

For those curious, his DNA showed him as a supermutt with 15 different breeds!

We just couldn't be happier for you beautiful boy!

PUPDATE on Muffin now Paco loving his best life in Port Coquitlam, BC. His mum Hayley, who met him at the Saturday market while on holiday in PV tells us he is such a smart, sweet boy and the perfect fit for the family. He goes just about everywhere with us, from happy hour patios to paddleboarding. He loves cuddling everyone, sleeping in the weirdest positions possible, and playing with his new sister and their mountain of toys. He's one happy, healthy boy now!

Thank you again for making this possible! 🥰

Paco’s sister Maple is still looking for her chance.

Congrats to all those rescued! Stay in touch and tell us about your new lives and loves!

PUPDATE on recently arrived Solana who is loved dearly by her new family in Campbell River, BC

Solana was guided by senior girl Dixie on her arrival who helped her feel safe. Solana has brought out the hidden playful side of her new brother Indi too. Her mum Andrea tells us that she’s perfect - fun, smart, sweet, unique, diplomatic , resilient, and even a bit stubborn in surprising little ways. Every outing she gets braver. Solana waited a long time for this happy ever after but it couldn’t be more perfect.

Thank you to Meghan Cressman for hosting him overnight in Vancouver and to the Glaser’s of Port Alberni, BC for adopting him. Here's a great article about dog parks by Bravo Dog Behavioural Health

This is a heated topic of debate. Let me start by saying this; labelling ALL dog parks as "bad" isn't really fair.

Sweet brave Solana has made it to her forever home in Campbell River, BC. Solana has spent her young life in the SPCA PV sanctuary after a rescue with her mum and siblings. Pretty scary trip but her new family - Andrea & Randall and their dogs Indie and Dixie are so happy to have her and so proud of how brave she’s been. Senior girl Dixie is calmly showing her the way and making her feel safe. True to her personality at the shelter she’s so affectionate. She now has her very own half acre and people who love her. We couldn’t be happier for her. Special thanks to Dana and Jordan who were in PV to get married but didn’t forget to pay it forward by es**rting 2 dogs to their happy ever after; Solana’s mum Andrea fir making the trip to Vancouver to meet her and Meghan Cressman for her help at the airport.

Estrella’s foster mum is blown away by how smart this girl is. She is really embracing life out of the shelter and would LOVE to find her furever. Her sister Solana was just adopted and it would be so nice for Estrella to get started on her happily ever after. She is good in the car, and housebroken (big bonus!). Estrella is in foster care in Kelowna currently but can travel for the right fit. If you are looking to add a beautiful soul to your pack, reach out at [email protected] for an application.

Welcome Trini to your forever home in Parksville where she is warmly welcomed by her new mum Barbara. Thank you to Lynne Melancon and Michelle Mitchell for being her flight angel. We have other pups waiting for a lift and are looking for other angles like Lynn to es**rt them (no cost to you). Trini is enjoying her new yard and mostly all the affection from Barbara and her son Daniel.

Muffin now Paco is settling in well to his new home, thanks in part to the bestest big sister Akuma who has welcomed him with kindness. Every time Akuma walks into the room his little bum wiggles joyfully. He's fitting in perfectly to his happy forever home. Thank you Hayley and Daniel. And thank you to the volunteers who took the pups to the Saturday market where Paco met his new mum whilst she was on a fateful holiday that connected them.

Miska is settling in to her cabin in the Okanagan travelling calmly in the camper through the mountains. She was thrilled to see the lake (but what the heck are those boat buoys??!!) and now resting after a huge trip. We couldn't be happier for her, and we understand her fans at the SPCA PV are missing her, but happy she has found her family. And look at her Dad with treat pouch handy! Thank you Barb & Etienne for welcoming her with kindness on such a late arrival and for making the trip to get her.

Welcome beautiful Miska! Miska was welcomed in Vancouver by Barb & Etienne. She will make her way to her new cabin in Salmon arm before settling in her forever home in Jasper Alberta where nature awaits. Thank you to her Marlene of PV for giving her foster refuge as a puppy after the hurricane washed away much of the shelter, and the volunteers who’ve helped get her out into the world.

Pancake is welcomed in Vancouver by Stacy and Shannon of Bellingham, Washington. He was very popular at the airport in PV and needed a moment to rest before his big trip and a long night. You may have once been discarded but you are safe, loved and your forest adventures await.

Welcome to Canada sweet Muffin! Muffin's new mum Hayley met Muffin on a trip to Puerto Vallarta and he crawled into her arms like he always belonged there. Muffin joins Hayley, Daniel, their sweet dog Akuma and kids in Port Coquitlam, BC. Thanks to our flight angels Suzanne and Matthew who graciously helped 3 dogs get to their forever homes. Thanks to our super volunteer Meghan Cressman for helping at the airport at a very late hour, and to the volunteers on the ground in PV for transporting and supporting Muffin and his siblings in their early life. Estrella (on the right) is basking in the sun and the joy of life in a real home with her Kelowna foster home with foster sister Chili (also PVCA alumni). Her foster family says she’s the loveliest pumpkin ever. She’d love to find her forever home - and shout out for her sister (looks like a twin) Solana who is still at the shelter waiting for a home.

The girls are a year and a half, affectionate, good with dogs and cats. Estrella house trained quickly and is enjoying a home with other dogs. They’d love a yard. Get in touch if you have questions or if you might be a match at [email protected]

We were so happy when Tigressa was adopted to Brad and Nicole of Vancouver a couple of years ago. Brad, originally from the UK impressed us with his previous experience volunteering in animal shelters in India before settling in Vancouver. He gave a home to the sweet Tigressa who he dearly loved. Sadly despite his young age, Brad was taken in a workplace accident. His partner Nicole is organizing a memorial fundraiser run on his behalf and has graciously chosen PVCA Animal Rescue to honour Tigressa (aka Tiggy). Life is precious - Brad did good things in his short life. Let that be an example to us all. See the link below for more information.

Registered Charity that stands by our dogs for life

Federally registered in Canada since 2012, PVCA Animal rescue finds loving homes in Canada for dogs looking for a second chance in life. A sister charity to the SPCA PV in Puerto Vallarta, we rely on our dedicated volunteers to support the transition of these dogs on their journey to happiness in Canada. These dogs were failed in the past - abused, neglected, abandoned, but with the kindness of strangers, they have this chance. We rely entirely on donations and the kindness and dedication of our volunteers and those committed to adopting.
