Rocky is an 11 year old, Shepherd/Lab mix who was surrendered to the rescue when his owners could no longer care for him. In spite of this unfortunate circumstance, Rocky remains gentle and affectionate. Typical of his age, this handsome boy is winding down and enjoys spending most of his time lounging around with his humans. On top of his sweet personality, Rocky is already potty trained and has mastered basic training. In his older age, Rocky has developed anxious behaviors which are triggered during thunderstorms and fireworks. However, during these times, Rocky does well in the comfort and safety of his crate. Rocky has been an only pet his entire life and would like to remain someone’s one and only for his golden years. Due to his age, he would also prefer a home without young children.

Jill is a 12 week old, mixed breed who came into the rescue with her brother, Jack, from Alabama. Although we do not know much about her past, we do know that Jill is a playful and affectionate pup. She is currently fostered with other dogs and would likely do well in a home with respectful children. Jill’s favorite activities include romping in the yard with her doggie friends and tossing around pinecones. She is very smart and a quick learner. In fact, Jill is progressing very nicely with crate and potty training. Like any pup, Jill would benefit from continued training and socialization in her new home.

Poor Jordan was passed up again this weekend. The potential family had nothing but positive things to say about him, they just didn’t feel a connection. Although we are beginning to feel discouraged, we know Jordan’s family is out there.

Ruby is an absolutely perfect girl who hasn’t received even one adoption application. She is well mannered in the house, potty trained, crate trained, amazing with kids and adults, and gets along with dogs of all sizes.

We hate to think that the only reason she hasn’t been adopted yet is because she is an adult. Just because she isn’t a puppy, doesn’t mean she is any less deserving of a home.

We are so beyond happy to report that Cricket is healing beautifully. She is finally starting to feel her best and is learning how to be a regular dog. Here she is chewing on a bone for the very first time ❤️

Update as of 8/8: Cricket went back this evening for her two week check up. Although not all stitches are not ready to come out just yet, her doctor is optimistic regarding her recovery. The area is slightly infected, but otherwise she is healing well. Most likely, next week the remaining stitches will be removed. Despite these circumstances, Cricket was still happy to greet the entire vet staff with kisses and a wagging tail. Thank you again for everyone’s support and positive vibes! ❤️

Our girl Cricket made it safely out of surgery this afternoon. Although her journey isn’t over yet, she has made it through the toughest part. We want to extend a massive thank you to Dr. Chun and the staff at Ridgefield Park Animal Hospital not only for their amazing work, but for getting Cricket seen so quickly.

Her bill totaled $3,219.50. So far, we have raised about half of that amount. If you would like to contribute towards covering Cricket’s care, donations can be sent via Venmo to .

Homeward Bound Animal Rescue has teamed up with Animal Rescue R Us to save this precious girl. Upon her arrival to NJ this afternoon, it was clear that Cricket needed immediate medical attention. This baby sustained severe burns and damage to both eyes after being set on fire. After a visit with the vet, it was determined that both eyes will need to be removed as soon as possible. This will likely be a costly procedure, but we feel that we owe it to Cricket to do whatever we can to help her.

This handsome boy has been in the rescue for months with very little interest and we just can‘t understand why. Despite always being on his best behavior and a favorite at adoption events, Arrow continues to be overlooked. This boy is about 6 months old, potty trained, crate trained, walks well on leash and is learning basic commands. Did we mention he is dog friendly, too? He truly is the perfect pup.

Peaches (approx 6lbs) is a 15 week old, mixed breed who came into the rescue from Alabama. Despite her tiny size, Peaches has a big personality and can be a little reactive when it comes to taking her leash off. Although she has made great strides in her foster home and is now comfortable with her leash, she will likely try to test her new family once she transitions to her new home. Therefore, she needs a family that will not give into her antics and can provide her with the structure and predictability that she deserves. As long as you don't let her push you around, Peaches is your typical, playful puppy. She loves exploring around the house, tossing around her toys, splashing in her pool and playing with other dogs. Peaches is currently fostered with a cat and dogs of all sizes. She is crate-trained and is progressing nicely with housebreaking. As with any dog, she would benefit from continued training and socialization.

Arrow (40lbs) is a 6 month old, Pit Bull mix who came into the rescue with his brother, Bow, from Alabama. While Bow has since been adopted, Arrow is still looking for his forever. Typical of his age, this boy is full of puppy antics. He is friendly towards everyone he meets and adores his people. Arrow can usually be found running in the fenced yard with his doggie friends or chewing on his toys inside. Arrow is crate trained and currently working on mastering his basic commands. He is doing well with potty training but like any dog, he would benefit from structure and continued training in his new home. Arrow is currently fostered with other dogs and would likely do well with respectful children.
