Almost no rescues will take in felv+ cats and kittens, but there's one special lady in New York that helps us consistently, and I can't thank her enough! Mr. Gus may fight it off, and then again he may not, but either way he's got an awesome foster waiting for him in NY, and he'll live his own best life!

Georgia shelter dogs Copper and Carl are about to make the last leg of their transport from CT to NH to become service dogs. They're headed to a wonderful rescue organization with a mission to rescue and train shelter dogs as specialized service companions for veterans experiencing PTSD, TBI, and MST. In the end 39 shelter dogs and 52 shelter cats are heading out to rescues in the north this beautiful afternoon. Couldn't be happier for these 3, blind Daredevil who has had 2 enucleations, and his buddies Francis and Teller. All 3 had a rough start in life, but through the hard work of a Georgia shelter and the fight in each of them, they now have the opportunity to find a home of their own in the Big Apple thanks to a wonderful Brooklyn rescue.

Over 100 animals are packing their bags while some wonderful Georgia shelter employees get health certificates done, get last minute vetting done, gather paperwork and set up vans for Friday's transports. 3 FIV+ kittens are among them, along with lots of big dogs again this week.

88 Georgia shelter animals heading out to rescues in the northeast tomorrow.... 25 cats and 63 dogs. 4 dogs over 70 lbs, with one tiny one weighing in at 98 lbs. With so many big dogs going it was a miracle they fit on 2 vans. We had to delay 60 animals til next week. Ready to find some bigger vans!. Happy life kids!

With some seriously fancy footwork by the staff at Murray County, Georgia Animal Shelter, 5 of the 10 MOAS pups got crates on the van for tomorrow's transports, and will be headed to a fantastic rescue in the Big Apple. Georgia Shelters helping each other. I will never again take that cooperation for granted. The other 5 will go next week. One more litter saved. Spay/neuter to save lives!

From the rescue we sent Sophia to....

Beautiful Sophia

Her story is a sad one. Unfathomable to say the least. She came to us last weekend, very very shy. Very very kind. We understand she has been gaining weight at the previous shelter.

Sophia is thin. Heartworm positive. Seems to have suffered a broken leg that mended on its own. If that is not enough… she has been shot and carries the bullet today.

At 8 years old she has landed at the right rescue. She is on a supplement to help her with her joints. Will receive heartworm treatment….and thankfully is in a foster home.

Sophia has the most gentle nature. Hopefully her life will turn around when an honorable family adopts her….forever.

The day we got her, I heard Diane quietly whisper to her: “I’m glad we saved you.”

Let’s make her ending beautiful.

Two vans carrying 35 dog and 39 cats left this afternoon for recues in the northeast. Not a huge number but the vans are smaller and we had to delay some dogs. We did get 2 moms with puppies out. One litter was born at the shelter and are now 8 weeks old, but at least the moms got to go. Then there was the 5 six month old felv+ kittens that spent most of their life in a cage at a Georgia shelter. So I'd say we did good. Thank you all. Thank you Albany Humane society for originating. Thank you Athens Area HS for lending your van, and Michelle Ray DeRepentigny of AthensPets and Athens-Clarke AC, Barrow and MOAS For working together to get these animals on the road to a better life.
