Georgia Transport Allies We are a group of Georgia pet rescues and shelters working together to save lives through transport.

More recipients of the golden ticket this weekend. So many that would not have seen next week if not for transport.

Went to a German Shepherd Rescue YESTERDAY. Truly amazing! That's what happens when your state has more adopters than animals to adopt.

After 2 years and 10 months (1,038 days) in a South Georgia shelter Gus is going to a foster today. He's going to a hound rescue, so he'll get the home he needs. His fosters are meeting us at 12:30 tonight as we pass through Virginia. Happy life Gus!

69 dogs and 80 cats are packing their bags this evening to head out from Georgia shelters tomorrow to 19 rescues in the northeast. Shelter animals are going from GA county shelters in Morgan, Jackson, Terrell, Albany, Ben Hill, Athens-Clarke, Toccoa, MOAS, Barrow, and Murray as well as Hands to Paws Rescue in Augusta. Dogs are going at their 11th Hour, 3 fiv+ cats, and lots of puppies and kittens, including the pups rescuer extraordinaire Michelle Ray DeRepentigny pulled out from under a shed and fostered all week. Always thankful for our German Shepherd and hound rescues, 2 breeds that have such a hard time getting out. Thankful to Murray for always stepping up to use their vans. Thankful that Athens-Clarke offered their small animal control vehicle for some of the overflow. We could do so much more with more vans. Fingers crossed that we can find donations and grants to expand our fleet soon.

So ten year old Wilma was due to be euthanized on Friday in a Georgia shelter because they were out of space, but instead she went to a vet that runs a small rescue in the northeast. By Sunday she was adopted by an attorney with a home on the beach in CT. The pure volume of animals northern rescues can take and the swiftness by which they find homes always amazes me.

Can you believe this? After 2 months in a Georgia shelter, Luna on the right went to a Long Island rescue 3 weeks ago. Bruno on the left went to a CT rescue last week and got adopted the day after he arrived. The adopters heard that he had a sister that had gone to Long Island and as luck would have it she was still available. The rest is history. Waiting on a video of when they get home! I'm sure there'll be a happy dance! Josalyn Pratz Snyder we did it again!

I could just cry! Georgia dogs are the best! People just don't get it. If they weren't temperamentally perfect they would never make it this far. In spight of being perfect Rupert would have died last Friday, and now look!!! In foster in NJ!

Rupert's foster says.....Rupert has been doing amazing in his foster home. He loves playing with his pitty foster brother, walks amazing on a leash, loves car rides and adores kids. He went to a baseball game last night and was a total gentleman. If you want to adopt a playful cuddle bug look no further. Rupert is your man💕

Don't suppose anyone knows someone at a Ford dealership or wealthy person committed to animal welfare that might donate a Ford Transit to one of our county shelters or 501c3 rescues in our coalition? Or, does anyone know of any grant opportunities where we could apply for a van? Pretty sad that we are able to get so many animals out but don't have a way to get them north. We have saved 25,000 Georgia shelter animals over 7 years, and done 515 transports. At 2,000 miles a transport that's a million miles. Vans don't last forever!
