Another Georgia success story after transporting to a rescue in the north.......
So Ivy, now Maggie is settling in beautifully. She loves her long walks down main street past the fountain to the blinking lights and hiking in the woods on the weekends. She loves riding in the pickup truck. She does race me to the truck as she knows we are hiking or walking. She also sleeps through the night occasionally waking to see that we are near, giving us a huge slurp and then resettling back in to sleep till morning. She is completely house broken, no accidents since day one and loves being in her crate. Maverick our Flatcoat Retriever and Maggie have really bonded and this pair are going to be great companions for each other. We love having her and she is a great addition to our family. She will be spoiled for the rest of her life and I can’t believe nobody wanted this kind, loving and great tempered pup from day one. We are so lucky to have her and it’s a win-win situation for both of us we she fills a void from a recent loss our family had.

Another Georgia dog living the good life after transporting to the north.
Muffy is doing really well and has been an amazing companion over the last two weeks! She is a special dog that is very lovable and just the sweetest thing. She has been doing well in getting acclimated to her new forever home!
She met her grandparents (my dad loves dogs) and Muffy was so happy! She got her first pup cup! Loves sleeping and playing on the huge bean bag chair and playing with her Kong toy! She’s been getting plenty of exercise as she’s an active puppy with (2) daily walks a day, which she really loves sniffing around and discovering the world!
I am really thankful we met by chance that day, I just happen to be at the right place at the right time and I feel very fortunate to have her in my life!

Georgia kitties living her best life in the north!
He is doing so well! We changed his name to Nemo! He is the most snuggly little boy. He loves playing with his new sister and keeps her on her toes! He plays all morning and takes his daily naps in my lap. He is so loved and spoiled. We did officially change his name to Nemo and he is doing so well!! He is such a love bug and just loves to snuggle. He has adjusted very well in our home. My daughter is absolutely in love with him!
Thank you for blessing us with such a sweet little boy.

Another happy Georgia dog, living the good life!
Six months of loving Sadie. Adopting a senior dog is the best decision alive ever made. She is perfect! Love to nap on the couch, walk by the beach and thanks, Mom, for my first puppaccino . We love our Starbucks!

I know some of you love to see how our transported Georgia shelter animals are doing in the north. One of our wonderful partners just sent me a bunch of updates on dogs and cats they've taken from us. I'll share a few.
Hi! Snickerdoodle is now Georgia and she is settling in great! She is such
a sweet baby and a good girl! She and my daughter have quickly become
best friends, she’s loved taking walks and meeting lots of new friends in our
neighborhood, she’s a huge couch potato and my sidekick during the work
week, laying next to my desk. We feel so lucky to have found her! We had
her first training session yesterday but honestly she’s such a good girl and
has great manners, she wont need too many! Our house felt like something
was missing since our dog passed away in November and she’s brought so
much joy to it this past week!

80 dogs and 39 cats are heading out on the Fannin, Murray and Rabun vans tomorrow, including these 3 little felv+ kittens from 2 Georgia shelters. They've got a vet tech foster waiting for them in NJ, and with a little luck they'll fight it off by the time they're 6 months old. Kittens with felv have very little chance in Georgia. So very thankful for the Georgia transport partners and rescues that put the hard work in week after week to make these transports happen, as well as all the northern rescues that help us to save these precious lives. This week I'd especially like to thank Brandy Padgett, transport coordinator extraordinaire, for going the extra mile week after week. We appreciate you!

69 dogs and 17 cats loading up for rescues in the northeast. So thankful we were able to get some older puppies and teenage dogs to rescue. You wouldn't think a 10 or 12 week old puppy would have a hard time getting out, but they do, and teenagers under a year have it about as hard as adults. Thanks to Toccoa-Stephens County Humane Shelter and Athens-Clarke County Animal Control for originating, and to Athens Area Humane Society for lending their van. Team work makes all the difference.

Hopefully squeezing this bonded pair on tomorrow's transport in honor of International Cat Day. She cries when she's not with him and he cries at the community cat room door til someone goes in and picks him up. Quite a pair. Their owner passed away and they found themselves in a Georgia shelter. They have a rescue and adopter waiting for them in CT. At dinner my son reminded me it was International Cat Day and we laughed about whether I've done my share to help Georgia cats. Lol

Black cat Cara arrived in NJ this morning. We sometimes leverage highly adoptable cats and and dogs to get less adoptable ones out. They took black Cara so that they could get Brad the siamese. Sorry Brad! You'll just have to wait. Lyn Serino 10 black cats for you!!! Lol

One star fish at a time! Little HW+ Bruce gets to go foster with a vet tech in NJ next week. Often kittens can fight it off, and Georgia will be rooting for him. Looks like he's waving goodbye! 6 more days in a Georgia shelter. Thank you Ginny Tillman and Joann Caro !

Little Remy is packing her bags tonight, along with 58 other Georgia shelter cats and and 18 shelter dogs, 77 in all. They're heading to rescues in the Northeast from Murray County, Georgia Animal Shelter tomorrow afternoon. Last night in a shelter for everyone. A new life unfolds tomorrow. It's been the hardest month ever for Georgia shelters, but a bright future for these little Star Fish!

Just got this wonderful text from the rescue that took fiv+ Edgar last week. He's the cat that was relinquished to a south Georgia vet for being fiv+, and was going to be euthanized soon. Here's what she said.....
Can u believe first day up for adoption and edger the fiv cat already has an amazing family that wants him!!! He's quite the charmer

127 cats and 43 dogs about to load onto the Habersham, Fannin and Harris vans to 16 rescues in the northeast. Thankful to get this HW+ dog out, this Fiv+ cat plus this double positive that's going to a sanctuary in PA. Think it's too stressful for these shelter employees to be desperately placing dogs as their vet is standing there waiting to euthanize? Never enough.

22 dogs and 28 cats about to leave Rabun Paws 4 Life Shelter for PA, NJ and CT, including this sweet FIV+ cat that was left at a south GA vet to be euthanized. Thankfully that won't happen and he'll be living the good life in NJ in no time.

25 dogs and 27 cats leaving Toccoa this afternoon for rescues in the northeast, including more elderly cats, fiv+ and double pos. I'm going on vacation for a couple of weeks, but transports are in good hands with Brandy Padgett and Michelle Ray DeRepentigny .

UPDATE: 8 friendly cats transporting to NJ and Long Island and 4 ferals will go to a barn in Athens, GA.
These 8 young females may get released without a food source. Can any rescue help? They are in Augusta, Georgia.

I've never been more proud of my northern partners! They came through for a bunch of code red 8-10 year old Georgia cats, many with medical issues, and some fiv or double positive. Some going this week and some next week. We're about to load 69 cats and 46 dogs at Habersham County Animal Shelter on the Rabun Paws 4 Life Shelter and Humane Society of Harris vans. 11 GA shelters and rescues sending to 9 rescues in the north. Way to work together to save lives!
