I highly recommend you to do crate training if:
1️⃣You have a puppy
2️⃣You are toilet training your dog
3️⃣You are planning to travel with your dog
4️⃣Your dog has storm phobia
5️⃣Your dog has separation anxiety( crate training will help but wont fix the problem. Please also seek professional’s help.)

Nevertheless, crate training can still bring benefits for every dog.
Make sure you find the right size for your pup. The crate shouldn’t be too big that there are too many extra room. Your dog should be able to stand up, lay down and turn around comfortably.

If you still need help on choosing a crate or doing crate training, feel free to contact me for extra help🙋🏻‍♀️

Do you want your dog to sit every time when you tell them to, without any treats? Read this:

First of all, your tone matters🗣. Are you using the right tone which is assertive and clear? How was your body language? Was the dog too stressed or distracted?

Excluding the factors mentioned above, there are mainly 2 reasons for your dog not to listen to the command:
1️⃣ Your dog doesn’t know what it means
2️⃣ Your dog understands your command but choose to ignore it

When teaching a command, you need to get your dog to perform the behaviour reliably first. Then you pair the behaviour with the command. There’s no point of repeating command before your dog learns the behaviour. If you dog knows the command but just choose to ignore it, instead of repeating, you add a consequence (food taken away, leash pressure etc).

If your dog never offer the behaviour unless they know you have a treat, do this:
1️⃣ Do 10 reps of exercise with the treat
2️⃣ Do 10 reps of exercise but with one time reward with verbal praise but no treat
3️⃣ Slowly decrease the rate of treat
4️⃣ Randomise the chance of giving a treat

Commands are essential for every single dog. By doing these little things can make a BIG CHANGE on your commands and the relationship between you and the dog🐶💁🏻‍♀️

If you need help on this, feel free to contact me through the contacts in my bio.

This episode of , I made a video of this trip🤩(For some reason I can't upload it in this post. full video on Youtube:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lF-u-a4Wto) Been planning to visit this place for long time and Im so grateful of the weather that day☀️

High Island Reservoir East Dam
Difficulty: 🌗🌑🌑🌑🌑
Scenery : 🌕🌕🌕🌗🌑
Time: ~1.5hrs

The reason for the low difficulty is because we took the taxi on a return trip. Plus we only stayed around the east dam area. I gave a high rating for the scenery because its such a beautiful place that doesn’t require much effort for you to get to these amazing views.

If you have time and would like to explore more, here’s a few more options for you:
1️⃣Taxi to East Dam and walk back to Pak Tam Chung
2️⃣Start from Pak Tam Chung, walk to East Dam and leave by taxi(there are taxis at East Dam during busy hours)
3️⃣Taxi to East Dam then visit Po Pin Chau(this route is more challenging make sure you do some research beforehand)

If you don’t have much time and you want some fresh air and some scenery, this place is for you. The day we went was pretty hot, and most of the walk are not shaded. There is a toilet but no drinking fountain/vending machine. So make sure you bring enough water for both yourself and your 🐶 to avoid heatstroke.

Highlights of East Dam:
1️⃣Spectacular hexagonal rock columns
2️⃣Thousands of concrete tetrapods
3️⃣Holes on the embankment

Zelda is now 1 year old🎉🐶
I just wanted to take this chance to share a bit of my thoughts here.

My training journey has been amazing after Zelda joined my life. Since I became a dog owner, I feel a bit stressed whenever Zelda display any unwanted behaviour. Especially when it happens in front of my friends. (If Zelda ever barked at you before, Im sorry and Im trying my best to solve this behaviour😂) I often worry about how people think of me. And sometimes when I am angry or frustrated with my dog, I often behave exactly how I tell my clients not to behave, how ironic🙃

It's very challenging when you are working alone. But I'm so grateful to have some really good dog trainer community around me which gave me so much support. To feel sympathetic while sharing the struggle with other trainers, getting new insights and learning new techniques together. I guess that’s how it is. That's how the dog training community should grow🔥.

So I started to understand that dog trainers are no superman, and this is a long term learning progress. One thing that I learnt from my dog trainer course is: NEVER train your dog with negative emotions, training with negative emotions will only get you and the dog frustrated, result in a not very productive training. Sometimes you need to take a break in order to think clear. And this is what I need to do with Zelda’s barking behaviour. I wish I don’t lose hope in myself while dealing with challenging behaviours, and work with passion and love. Always be grateful of what I have, and continue learning.

Again, thank you and love you always Zelda. Looking forward to work and explore more with you🤍

If you recently got a new puppy, this is for you!🐶
Make sure you do not stop toilet training prematurely. It’s common that puppies go through toilet training regression. If that happens, just go back to step one and get them back on track again.

Sing Mun Reservoir Country Park
Difficulty: 🌕🌑🌑🌑🌑
Scenery : 🌕🌕🌕🌗🌑
Time: ~3hrs

We started from Pineapple dam nature trail and finished at the main dam. Not much of stairs and the trail is mostly flat with a few deep slopes at the last part. This place definitely worth visiting especially or these beautiful paperbark trees. We went on a rainy day and still be able to get some decent photos. There’s one toilet in the middle of the trail next to the bbq area. At the later part of the trail you’ll pass a lookout with a nice view of the reservoir.
⚠️Things to beware of⚠️:
1️⃣Cars
Most of the trail is also a road so just keep an eye on any vehicles

2️⃣Monkeys
Try not to disturb them, keep dog on leash for safety of both 🐶&🐵

Cheung Chau Mini Great Wall
Difficulty: 🌕🌑🌑🌑🌑
Scenery : 🌕🌕🌑🌑🌑
Time: 1.5hrs

Walking from the pier to the start of the trail only takes 10-15 mins. Zelda even gave herself a bath at the beach before starting. The trail goes along the coastline and it's well maintained(most of the path are stone paved). Easy to navigate around as there are clear signs along the way. The trail leads to few special rocks, be super careful with big gaps and cliffs it can very dangerous. Overall this is a low altitude easy hike. Highly recommend to go for lunch with your dog in a pet-friendly cafe in Cheung Chau.
