I found out tonight that today was the date Mr Buck was transported from Allison to Whispurring Hope Pet rescue in Dyersville, two years ago. Buck has been my buddy the past two years and he loves spending time at the dog park, walking, and hunting in our yards. Buck has been mostly my buddy and he has given me lots of company in our Waverly house the past two years. We lost my dad in May 2021. Buck has been with me since November 2021.
I found out Tuesday that Buck’s litter mate Is not doing so well and may have to visit the Rainbow Bridge soon. I am offering his dad to take Buck on a hunting trip this fall in his litter mate’s place since Buck used to hunt with them in the past. Buck will turn 16 next Feb 4, 2024! He has had several lives already just like a cat!!

Hello all! Buck is doing well, but we have not been going out to dog parks and walking. The reason for this is because Buck has a new brother and we were told until the little brother has all of his vaccines we should stay home. We are all doing well and we are learning to love each other and play together!

Update on Mr Buck! We love going to the dog park to see many different kinds and sizes of doggies. Tonight we met a German Shepherd that was taller than Buck! Buck has had a couple mini strokes (TIA) that scared us like I stayed in my last report. I guess this is normal stuff for old dogs. He is still hanging in there!

We did lose one of our Chesapeake Bay Retrievers two weeks ago Friday. So our family has been in mourning a lot lately. Dexter ended up Insulin Dependent Diabetic and was diagnosed with Cushing’s Disease. We had his blood sugar regulated but then he would go into low blood sugar and seizures. He was diagnosed with an Insulinoma (Pancreatic Cancerous lesion that also puts out insulin). He was hopeless to manage his blood sugar then with a terminal cancer.
Jasmine and Buck have been doing ok but Jasmine (the other Chessie) had been depressed since her brother is gone. Thank goodness Buck is here to help her through all of this pain.

Well Buck scared me tonight and could not walk for a bit tonight. We are at the Eastern Iowa Emergency Clinic waiting for his discharge. They thought he either had a small stroke, his right side fell asleep, or his vestibular apparatus was causing him issues. I hauled him from Waverly to the clinic tonight after 9 pm. His blood work came out ok. So we will take him home hopefully soon.

Well our three doggies needed new bedding on their youth beds! Here is what I sewed and put together for our two doggie areas. One is in our garage kennel with a youth car bed. The other is at my dad’s house where I stay during the week in the breezeway.

I lost my father at 91 yo to COVID in May 2020. Buck has filled the void of me taking care of my loving father. I had helped take care of him for 13 years after our mother passed. My heart was empty after dad died. Mr Bucky has filled this void and has helped me heal. I love him so much! It was a mutual healing process for us! Thanks soooo much for the birthday greeting for Buck! Love you all! Buck loves life and we love him!

We at Whispurring Hope are so grateful to Karen Wolf and her husband for their love and care of Buck. They have truly given him a wonderful home and life and he looks like such a happy boy.

Well Buck is a survivor!! We have had him for a year now! We were told when we picked him up, maybe a few weeks to a few months, but he show no signs of stopping his desire to live and love! He has gone from 62 pounds when we received him and is now 77.8 pounds. His mind is sharp. And contrary to what the vet told us he is not full of lung cancer; this is just how he breathes. But his liver show signs of being old. But at 14.5 years old, we cannot complain!! He has come to love our “family” and the first picture is him cuddling with our Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Dexter. I’ll post some videos below. He is mad that the days are shorter and it’s too dark to go to the dog park in the evenings. We have to take walks in the neighborhood now. But he is raring to go when I get home from work!

Mr. Buck is my buddy!! I am missing him tonight because he is with my husband and our Chesapeakes this week. I’m traveling out of town, so daddy has him this week! He is such a happy mama’s boy and I just love him!! Missing you tonight Buck!!
