SOS!! DONATIONS NEEDED!! $6,200 in unexpected vet bills.
We have had a vet emergency in the last week, ending up with surgery. Cole is home and healing nicely, but the vet bills are very high so we are seeking donations for Cole's vet care. First vet thought dehydration, maybe acute idiopathic polyradiculoneuritis (or coonhound paralysis, usually acquired from raccoon saliva). But the next morning, after being on IV fluids through the night, he was doing better and walking, though his kidney and electrolytes were still off the charts. Cole was discharged home, but continued being weak and not eating so off to another vet, who said he was extremely sick and took x-rays, which revealed an obstruction in his belly. Linda and Cole were then sent to an ER vet, who performed an ultrasound, which showed a blanket/rag in his belly, but luckily no perforations. Surgery was performed immediately, the blanket piece removed, and Cole is doing much better!!! Kidney functions are back to normal. Cole will be on a diet of rice and chicken for a week or two and definitely needs to put on some weight. Donations may be made through Zelle at [email protected] or through PayPal . Thank you in advance.
Pic is from 11/2023, healthy Cole!

More dogs have left Paw Paw Sanctuary today. Thank you Frances Hudson for transport. Levi, Shadow, Porsha and Dalia are on their way to Five Friends Animal Rescue in hopes of finding their furever homes. Thank you so much for taking these pups. Big thanks to Mary Lou with Suwannee County Animal Shelter for saving Levi, Shadow, Porsha and her puppies. Porsha’s puppies are thriving and will be leaving Paw Paw in a few weeks. You guys do an amazing job!!

Happy Giving Tuesday. We made it through Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday, so it is time for Giving Tuesday.
Here at Paw Paw Sanctuary, we have been busy with a litter of 9 puppies and their mom Porscha; helping remove, with the assistance of other area rescues/shelters, 33 Australian Shepherds from a terrible hoarding/breeding situation; and tending to our adult dogs (strays and surrenders).
The 9 puppies are in the process of receiving their series of 3 sets of puppy shots and deworming meds and have been weaned, so they are eating puppy food. Porscha, momma dog, will be leaving for a rescue and forever home this weekend along with Dalia (who was brought to Paw Paw following Hurricane Idalia hit our area), and the last two Aussies rescued.

Our ongoing expenses of running the rescue include veterinary services, medications (including monthly heartworm and flea/tick meds), food, bedding, toys, transportation, puppy supplies, laundry and cleaning supplies, etc. Paw Paw Sanctuary relies solely on donations for its continued rescue efforts, and donations are critically needed and greatly appreciated.

Please consider Paw Paw Sanctuary on this Giving Tuesday. Thank you!

PLEASE-IN NEED OF DONATIONS

Blossom was rescued from a very bad situation where she was extremely malnourished. She had severe ear infections, skin issues and underweight. She has had multiple litters and was basically starved by her owners. She has been vetted and has gained weight and is doing much, much better. However, she needs to be spayed and has several mammary tumors that need to be removed and several flaps of skin that are a result from infection. The surgery for Blossom is $575.00. This baby is a bit older but has had such a rough life. She needs the surgery so hopefully she does not end up with cancer from the tumors and further infection from the flaps of skin.

We also have a momma dog, Porsha, who gave birth to 9 beautiful puppies on October 4th. All of her puppies are healthy and doing well. It is very expensive to properly take care of a momma dog and her puppies. She eats an exorbitant amount of food per day. In addition, momma and her puppies are being dewormed. We need to purchase puppy formula to start the weaning process and the puppies will need their first set of vaccines (x9) in two weeks with an additional two more vaccines to follow. We also go through a ton of gloves, booties and laundry detergent.

We took in this one-year-old girl, Dalia, named after Idalia, since she was left outside during the hurricane. She is approximately a year old, only weighs about 28 pounds and is a sweetheart. She needs vaccines and spaying.

Paw Paw still has 15 dogs in search of homes. Many of which have been at Paw Paw way too long. See pictures attached. If anyone is interested in adopting these babies, please contact us at [email protected].

Good morning all. Thank you for the donations we have received so far. Our Venmo account is currently down, but I will post a new link as soon as we have a new information. We do have Zelle ([email protected]).
Linda made it through the storm; however, she has no power, running water or cell service and there is heavy tree/powerline damage around her that makes traveling anywhere very difficult. Fifteen of our dogs remain in boarding kennels; one of the vets called this morning to say everyone is doing well. We have not been able to reach the other vet yet. Continued good thoughts and prayers are appreciated!! We truly thank everyone for their support!!

Paw Paw Sanctuary (in Pinetta, FL) is in the direct path of Hurricane Idalia. As some of our kennels are outside and not completely enclosed, we managed to get 15 of our rescue dogs into boarding kennels at two different vet offices in Georgia. We still have 10 dogs (including some personal dogs) with our president, Linda. Of course, this was not an expense we were expecting and are reaching out for donations. Prayers and good thoughts are also requested as we pray our structures will survive (our outside kennels, fence areas, house (where many dogs are kenneled) etc.). No donation is too small. It is costing us $25 per dog per day for the boarding. We are just very thankful to the 2 vet offices which helped us with this situation! Donations may be made to Venmo - ; Zelle – [email protected]; or by calling in a donation directly to Lake Park Veterinary Clinic at 229-559-3000 (just tell them it is for Paw Paw Sanctuary). Thank you. Prayers for everyone else in the path of the storm as well. Be safe.
