So much cuteness
Sheba appreciating a Pup Cup today before our walk. The only time in the whole drive she wasn't barking.
Enjoying those days of sunshine when we can ☀️💛🧡💙
Saw this and felt seen. Those raccoons are smart, strong, and too often successful.
Getting fall scents started! First one on the list is Ginger Spice. A mix of Ginger, Nutmeg, and Cinnamon with just a touch of vanilla. I'm excited to share pictures of the new molds!
Poppy decided that the dried grass clippings from the last mowing are the best snack ever.
So many tears shed trying to print labels over the years.
Clover wanted to see what I was taking a picture of.

Spent Mother's Day at the Renaissance Festival! Which meant I was dragging whining kids through the booths but I had a blast 😂 Very excited for the next one!
Mother's Day Craft Fair! There's a ton vendors here and a cash bar! What more could you want? 😂
The Fox and The Otter is introducing 3D printed earrings!
Bunny selfie! The sun was out today so time to get the bunny area all cleaned up. Winston is great at taking photos.
Such a pretty goat! of spring
Tobias, our resident farm dog (mostly because he's the only dog that doesn't kill chickens), had to have all his teeth extracted. The surgery went really well and his tongue sticks out way more which is kind of hilarious. He's going to be so much more comfortable now.
Make your special someone feel extra special 😂
Warm Vanilla Sugar! Hoping the scent is still strong after cure time. Smells so nice. 🐐
Merry Christmas Eve! The snow and wind have all the animals hiding out. Even the geese took cover last night.
The Winter Market is over! My soap is almost all sold out and I think there's only one soap tray left. Thank you to the wonderful people who supported The Fox and The Otter this season and I'm excited to share some upcoming scents for the Valentine's market in February.
For your entertainment, here is Aries being weird. Which really just means being a buck.
I know it's a little early to be thinking about but if you get a real Christmass tree this year, feel free to donate to the Homestead after Christmas. Goats LOVE Christmas trees.
ALSO! If you have any whole pumpkins left from Halloween, all of my animals will happily eat them if you're looking for a place to get rid of them.
Faun had a blast at her first Trunk or Treat this year!!!
I think I've figured out what I was doing wrong! Very happy to see this soap come out so gorgeous. The Winter Market is coming up soon! I'll have least a few scents plus bath soaks and wooden soap trays for sale.
Its going to make me sound crazy but I'm so anxious for this soap to turn out! I got all fresh ingredients, skipped essential oils in case that was causing separation, and used an immersion blender instead of hand stirring. Everyone cross your fingers!
Not a great photo but I'm posting this today to share that blogging on my page is going to become much more of a priority. I miss focusing on my little homestead. I got incredibly busy and overwhelmed and on top of that, I had batch after batch of soap fail and it just started being less fun. I kept thinking why am I trying so hard with something that I keep failing at. It was really discouraging.
I'm starting on soap again with some new theories for why it failed and try to get a bunch of scents knocked out before the winter market. On top of that, we have some New Zealand bunnies joining the Homestead for eventual meat processing. Then on Saturday, we're picking up new chickens and some Muscovy ducks. Things are about to get a little more chaotic and I can't wait!
No makeup, sweaty from the gym, and so much dry shampoo in my hair that I'm worried how it'll wash out 🤣 BUT I finally have my top braces off. I have four weeks in a 24/7 retainer and then will be wearing it just at night. I AM SO EXCITED!
Faun has the absolute sweetest personality. 💗
The boys! They've gotten so big but they're still my cuddle buddies. They both adore their scratches!
Farmers Market starts at 3 PM rain or shine! Come help distract me from this humidity!

The Muscovy ducks being a little weird. Can't wait until there's baby ducks running around. #thefoxandtheotterhomestead #ducks #muscovy

Clover had her first kidding (first time giving birth) last week. It did not go well. She was actually pregnant with three babies which is really uncommon for the first time. Unfortunately, two of the babies didn't make it. They came out not breathing and I couldn't get them going. I was heartbroken. I called the vet and we talked about it and it's possible, I should have gotten involved earlier (she was right on that time limit but not quite over) but it really came down a really small goat giving birth to a lot of babies and bad luck. I cried the entire day, feeling guilty and heartbroken because it wasn't fair what happened. Farm life is so beautiful but it also comes with a lot of heartache and stress. There is something positive though. This beautiful thing here is sweet little Dandelion. Clover has taken to motherhood like a fish in water. She's producing an amazing amount of milk, is so attentive to her little one, and has just amazed me with her sweet behavior. I thought she'd be one I'd have to fight her tooth and nail on the milk stand but she literally stands completely still until I'm done. It's been amazing bonding with her in a new way.
I've been a little quiet online. Life got busy this fall and with the market and two energetic kids, social media hasn't been my focus. This coming month will be the month of holiday scents. I'll be working on bulk orders, new smells, and getting packages together for presents. If you're interested in a bulk order or specific scents, please feel free to contact me! I'm still taking orders. AND for your amusement, I have Clover being a weirdo. Disclaimer: She is not stressed or anything. I actually think she's in heat at the moment and it's not unheard of for does and bucks to make strange noises during heat/rut.
As milk weaning goes on the babies are drinking like a man in the desert when they get their bottle.
It's amazing how fast they grow! 🌱 The farm has welcomed another buck to the herd, meet Zeus! This beautiful boy and Aries are moving out into their own enclosure since they're getting older. #thefoxandtheotter #homestead #nigeriandwarfgoats
Who needs a barn cat when you've got a Yorkie? They've got terrier in their name for a reason. He's trying to deal with the mole problem and the other day, he left me a dead mouse by the back door. At least, I think Tobias was the culprit. Knowing me there's some feral cat out there offering gifts to try and weasel his way into my heart and barn.
My number one weakness with soap scents is anything floral based. Give me some deep, earthy scents and I can get so creative. Ask me to make a rose scented soap and I'm trying to add rosemary or turmeric or even ginger to it. I would love your suggestions on some fun, floral or summery scents that appeal to you! If I pick your suggestion, I'll send you a free bar of soap once it's completed!
There’s nothing like playing follow the leader on a windy day! #thefoxandtheotter #homestead #nigeriandwarf #Lily #Willow #Faun
Clover loves the kids toys almost as much as the kids do. It's such a personal joy for me to be out in the yard while the goats and chickens run the property and my kids build up their immune systems playing in the dirt. #thefoxandtheotter #clover #homestead #goat #goats
Thought the girls would like to check in on social media and say hi! I'm hoping for two pregnant does but I have a feeling only one took. But that's ok. As much as I wanted more babies this year, it further proves to me that I'd like to have bucks on the property. #goat #goatsoap #thefoxandtheotter #homestead #hobbyfarm
