As just about all of you may know by now, I’m very sad to announce that at this time, I will be taking a step back from daily dog walks and focusing mainly on pet sitting (if my schedule allows), as I enter this new chapter in life.
As I get closer to 26, it was time to make the difficult decision of a career change. I won’t disclose where I wound up, but I will share that I find comfort in knowing I will still be in the pet care industry.
Since I was a 5 year old girl, I always knew I wanted to work with animals. I have a “when I grow up” poster from my kindergarten days back in 2005 for proof.
Puppy Love began back in 2018, as 18 year old Jen was just looking for a way to temporarily bring in extra cash while working part time, and being a full-time college student. Little did she know her little “side hustle” would become her biggest passion and bloom into a very successful Dog Walking/Pet Sitting business in what felt like overnight.
I quickly found myself instantly falling in love with every single pet I came in contact with. I love and care for each and every one of them as they were my own.
To me, this never felt like a job. I felt like the luckiest person in the world who got to spend her days surrounded by the cutest furbabies. I lived by the motto “if you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life”, and it’s true. For the past 6 and a half years, I always woke up excited to go see all my furiends everyday, never thinking of it as “work.”
Not a lot of people get to say they were able to start a business and follow their dreams at only 18 years, and although it wasn’t always easy, I take pride in the hard work and dedication I have put into Puppy Love to build it from scratch, not once, but TWICE! (thanks Covid)
As I sit here with tears falling from my eyes, I find comfort in knowing that I have had to most fun spending all my days and making so many memories with some amazing pets. The bonds and friendships I have made over the years with the pet owners will forever be cherished, as I see you all more as family than just “clients.”
The Dog Walker community has introduced me to so many new people and I will cherish all the friendships I have made over the years.
Making friends as a dog walker goes a little something like this:
you follow each other’s business on social media
you see all the cute pups they walk as they share their pictures
you see them out on the streets and think to yourself “hm that dog looks familiar” and find yourself yelling across the street “HEY ARE YOU ON INSTAGRAM” and they respond with “OMG ARE YOU JEN FROM “PUPPY LOVE BY JEN”
and then one thing leads to another and you’ve got yourself a friendship to last a lifetime.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve run into fellow dog walkers and became friendly with them over the years.
Whether you were with me from the very beginning, joined me later on, or haven’t needed my services because your furbaby crossed over the rainbow bridge, you will always be part of the Puppy Love Pack and hold a special place in my heart. If it weren’t for you sticking with me through it all, there would have been no Puppy Love.
I could go on forever, and still I don’t think you would understand how much Puppy Love means to me.
As I try to wrap this up, I just want to say thank you for always supporting me and trusting me.
Thank you to my family and friends for always believing in me. I couldn’t have done it without any of you.
Puppy Love will forever be a big part of my life and I will never forget all the fun times I have had. There was never a dull moment. I’ve got to spend my days with so many animals who all have so many different personalities. I’ve never met two dogs or cats with the same personality which made them all special in their own ways.
Thank You from the bottom of my heart.
P.S just remember, I have all your numbers saved, so don’t be surprised when I reach out to schedule a play date with my furiends.
