Little boy and his Daddy.
The pups got their first taste of puppy chow today. They all seemed to love it! I soaked the food in warm water first, then mashed the soaked pieces with a fork and tried using a pizza wheel for reducing the size of the pieces so it looked like ground burger. Then I added a small amount of puppy milk (called esbilac) and a small amount of Fortiflora (doggie probiotic). The consistency was moist, but not wet. I started with approximately a 1/2 cup of dry puppy chow. I thought to start they wouldn’t eat more than about a tablespoon of food. I introduced each pup separately by holding the baby in my left hand and stroking the cheek. Stroking the cheek stimulates the pups to open their mouth. When the mouth was open I dropped in a small tidbit of food. Each of the puppies licked their lips at this taste of food and was happy to have a little more to eat. At this point I put the pup next to the small bowl containing the mixture. I fed four pups on the first bowl and the last three pups on the second bowl I had prepared. It seems the amount I started with was a good call because all of the pups seemed happy and satisfied after the meal.😊
