Our ACT forever foster Casper that’s blind and deaf due to irresponsible breeding needs your help. Casper was rescued from the shelter at risk of being euthanized. Casper needs his yearly exam and he has some skin issues that needs to be addressed. We estimate that his vet costs will be around $200. It would be greatly appreciated if you could make a donation via PayPal at https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=FL2G337RBECNW. You can also make a donation to Valdosta Animal Hospital at 229-247–2133 for ACT for Casper.

I have never begged like I am fixing to but Wesson has been very sick the last month and going thru alot and he is very sick and I need to get him to a emergency vet somewhere so he isn't suffering. My rescue doesn't have the money to walk into a ER vet right now and I don't want to trust just anyone with him. We need emergency funding right now to get him to Capital or a responsible vet to help us. I'm willing to let him go if that is what we need to do but I don't want him to suffer until my vet opens on Monday. Please I beg someone please help us.

Waylon pupdate🐾🐾. Thank you to all of those that donated. Because of your support we were able to raise the funds needed for his vetting. We will post freedom pictures tomorrow. 🐾🐾

Everyone meet Waylon. Waylon was found as a stray and is at a very overcrowded shelter in Lowndes County. Unfortunately, the shelter doesn’t have room for him, but he has a great rescue willing to take him if we can raise $100.00 to get him vetted. Please don’t blame or bash the shelter as this is not their fault. If you would like to make a donation towards Waylon’s vet care you can donate via PayPal at https://www.PayPal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=FL2G337RBECNW. Thank you for your support and Waylon thanks you also.

Prayers

It is with a very heavy heart that we announce the passing of one of our sweetest girls, Sassy. 😞

Like so many dogs who come into our care, Sassy was heartworm positive. She had begun treatment for her heartworms, but unfortunately, she was further along in her condition than we could see. She did too good of a job hiding her condition from us; always so happy and spirited.

Sassy loved cuddles and being around people. She was a princess who fit the name Sassy perfectly. More than anything else, she loved playing with her toys.

Sassy deserved a forever home of her own and we desperately wish we could have given that to her. Thankfully, she got to spend her last few days in a foster home being spoiled with all the love and cuddles she could ever want. We are so grateful to her foster for giving her such an amazing gift.

In honor of Sassy’s memory, we beg you to keep your pets on heartworm prevention and get them tested regularly. Prevention can not only save you money, but it can truly save your pets life.

Thank you so much Sassy for lighting up our lives in the time we had with you. If love was enough, you’d be with us forever, sweet girl. ❤️

Fonzy is looking for his forever home! He is friendly and good with other cats. He’s around 6 years old and available now!

He’s neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and given flea prevention. Please note that an application does not guarantee adoption. We do our best to make the perfect match for both you and our animals.

You can apply here: https://www.hthhs.org/adoptionprocess

***UPDATE***. GOOD NEWS. Thank you to those that donated towards Diesels care. He had his exam, tests and other vetting at Azalea City Animal Hospital today. Thankfully he tested negative for parvo, but has intestinal parasites. He was given the meds necessary to get to treat that. He was also vaccinated to prevent parvo and distemper. Thanks again for your support.

This is Diesel and he needs a little help as he is not feeling good. We are trying to help the owner so she doesn’t have to surrender him. Diesel is showing signs of what could be parvo, but a vet visit will determine where to go from here. We have Diesel setup for an appointment at 2:20 today to get checked out. The costs of the exam and tests is $110.00. Please no negative comments, the owner has only had Diesel for a few weeks and was under the impression that he was vaccinated. If you would like to donate towards his care you can donate via PayPal https://www.PayPal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=FL2G337RBECNW. Thank you.

🗣In 2021, we took in 665 animals 253 of which were kittens under 5 weeks old. In 2022 we took in 1,031 animals 242 of which were kittens under 5 weeks old. In 2022, 278 kittens under 5 months old died in the Lowndes County Animal Shelter. There is one answer to why that many kittens did not make it out alive: no available fosters.

If kittens are too young to care for themselves and do not have a foster, how can they survive? If they are able to eat on their own, they often still get sick and pass away in the shelter. How can the shelter or even the HSVLC stop this problem? By having people open up their hearts and their homes to foster animals and save lives. We quite literally cannot do this without our community rallying behind us and supporting us in this effort of saving them all.
We had about 10 active fosters at any given time throughout 2022 and we still managed to save over 1,000 animals. Can you imagine if we had 15 or even 20 this year? We invite you to be the change you want to see in our community and sign up to foster this kitten season. www.humanesocietyofvaldosta.org/foster

‼️We are currently searching for fosters willing to take in 4-6 week old litters of kittens. We would also like to find 2-3 neonate fosters who can bottle feed for short amounts of time to relieve our current neonate superheroes throughout the season. This is not a post or opportunity to speak negatively about the shelter or the staff that works so hard to help animals in our area. This is your opportunity as an animal lover to sign up and be a part of the solution‼️

UPDATE The puppies have rescue with Thomasville Humane Society. Thank you for the donations and support. Happy tails pups.

Hi everyone! We are asking for your help again with some puppies from the Quitman shelter. We have contacted lab rescue and some other rescues regarding these pups. Regardless where these puppies go they desperately need donations for vaccines and de worming which should be about $80.00. If you would like to help these precious puppies on their way to a better pawsome future you can donate via PayPal at https://www.PayPal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=FL2G337RBECNW

Thank you to everyone that donated to the puppies. They are in our care as of yesterday. They are for the most part somewhat healthy. They have been dewormed and are getting plenty of good food and water. They are a little skinny and some were a little dehydrated, but everyone is doing good. Everyone will be vaccinated tomorrow. Again, thank you for the donations and support.

EDITED ***. The PayPal link has been included at the bottom of this post. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Donations greatly appreciated to help this litter of eight puppies. Your donation will go directly to the care of the puppies to include vaccines, puppy food and de wormer. It is most important that we raise the funds for the vaccines as they have not been vaccinated and we certainly don’t want these precious souls to get sick. We are asking for a total of $200.00 for their care. If you would like to make a donation you can donate via PayPal by clicking on the below link. Thank you for your support. Please see the updated post with the donation link.

Welcome to Sims Play yard!

For dogs that stay in our kennels rather than foster homes, having a place to run, play, and socialize is incredibly important. Thanks to Sims Fence Company they now have a safe fenced in area to do just that! Thank you so much to Sims Fencing for not only donating the fencing material, but their time to install it. They were wonderful people to work with and have made a huge impact in the way we are able to help animals.

Molly - Molly is a 5-6 month old shepherd mix. She is spayed and fully vaccinated. Molly gets along great with all dogs and cats. Not sure about kids. She is house and crate trained and has only had a few accidents in the house. If you would like to set up a meet and greet, please comment or send us a message. Molly is hoping to meet her forever family soon.

I’m searching for the words as I write this Facebook post, realizing how important each word is as I make this heartfelt plea for help. We really don’t ask for much at DARE. In the past two plus years, we have been scaling back our rescue efforts, honestly due to burn out and life changes. The board has about 38 years of combined animal rescue experience. That’s a long time, and to be honest, we just don’t have the time or energy we once had. With that said, the needs are still great and we still find there are times we have to get involved. Recently, we were made aware of a colony of about 20 abandoned cats. By the time we came on scene, all of the cats were starving. Some were literally skin and bones.

Over the next few months, we worked on trapping them, but several died before we were able to get them, while others just disappeared. Some died because of unknown illnesses, while others were hit on the road. It was heartbreaking. We were able to trap several that we had to take to the shelter due to major injuries and severe illnesses. We were only able to save three. Because we have scaled back our efforts, we do not have a foster home network, so these three kitties are in temporary foster homes.

This is where we need your help. We are not asking for money. We just need your help in finding them good homes. Over the next few days/weeks, we will begin sending out pictures and descriptions of these sweet fur babies. Please share them on your pages, tell your friends and relatives and help us find wonderful homes for these three kitties. In addition to these babies, we still have wonderful cats available for adoption that have been waiting a LONG time for their forever homes. Please, PLEASE help us find some great homes for these cats. They so deserve it! Thank you for your help, And thank you for all your support over the years.

Pictured is one of the sweet babies we rescued, Sport. He is available for adoption right now. Please go to our website and submit an application if you are interested 🐾

Please share and donate if you can. Rescues working together to help this sweet girl.
