No Matter The Odds: Equine Rescue and Rehabilitation Center

It's been awhile since we updated everyone on what's going on. We have been very busy fixing things on the property. Here are some of the projects we have been working on:
-building a mini barn
-perfecting our solar powered watering system
-building an arena
-repairing our driveway, again and again
-fixing up a tractor
-repairing our main tow truck

I have had several people message me asking about the status of our rescue. We are currently on hold while we fix everything on the property. Our projects to make it livable and safe for us and our animals have been costly and very time consuming. Furthermore, Valentina has been battling a bad infection in her leg going on 4 months now. She is currently at Texas A&M being treated. I am in my last semester of Law School and soon will be studying for the Bar Exam. With all of this going on, we have not been accepting new rescues and will not be for at least another 8 months. When the time comes we take on any new animals, it will be one at a time. I appreciate everyone reaching out asking if we can help rescue horses they have found, but are simply up to our eyeballs in repairs right now. We never imagined our property would turn out to be so difficult, but it is what it is. Thank you for being patient.

Boy have we had a busy month! We officially moved to our property this past weekend! Everyone is adjusting very well and loving their new pastures.

Check out Olive’s new coat coming in! Look how shiny and healthy! Gus Gus is getting some long legs and growing like a w**d! Winnie is moving around a lot better since we changed her feed, and Maribel, too, is moving around nicely since we started trimming her in shorter intervals. I cannot wait to get these guys home where we can really dive into their care!

Our water well is scheduled to go in next week and then we move! Let’s pray everything goes accordingly!

We have been busy at work getting our property ready. We now have all the sides up for our fence. We just have to add gates and tposts. Next step is temporary shelters for shade. If you'd like to help our donkeys out, we could sure use some water-trough donations! We had a tiktok follower recommend an awesome temporary shelter idea to us, so if you would like to donate one of those as well, the link is below. We only need one for the donkeys!

We will be building a more permanent structure before the cold weather arrives but for now, we are more concerned about getting them moved out there and having access to shade. As always, thank you for your support!

We will also be playing the price is right-- barn edition! I'll share the name of something common us Farm animal/equestrians buy regularly and the first person to guess closest to the price gets a point. At the end of the game, the person with the highest number of points gets to choose which donkey will be the receiver of a yummy surprise!

Lastly, we are going to bet on whether it's a boy or a girl! We know this one isn't as exciting as there won't be a winner until Ms. Winnie delivers her baby, but it'll lead to a fun gender reveal!

Stay tuned for our registry! Winnie needs several supplies to make her comfortable while we wait for her baby. She has developed laminitis and is in a lot of pain moving around, so we have to get a stall set up for her.

What a day!!!!! Sallie managed to trim Winnie!!! This is a huge win! We’ve been trying since February to trim Winnie and couldn’t even manage it with sedation. Today, with a bucket of food and love, Sallie got her trimmed🥹💕

We have some great news. Recently, we learned our water well is scheduled to be installed around the beginning/middle of July. We cannot wait to finally move to our new home and get everyone set up with the care I have dreamed about for years! Helping animals in need is such a team effort. I knew these donkeys were going to require a lot of effort when we picked them up, but it quickly became a lot for one person, me. Huge, massive, MASSIVE thank you to for giving everyone a trim AND helping me train them to stand for her. They sure gave us a challenge and I can’t ever express how grateful I am for the help!

I am so happy our name is getting out there, HOWEVER, our property is not done yet and we have not set up a steady donation stream yet.
