Week 1 & 2 at @monavalevet and this group is absolutely delightful!
And we have the whole spectrum of sizes from teeny mini dachshund up to giant Great Dane!
More week 4 of Introduction to Scentwork & graduation!!
We challenged the dogs with some interesting searches - this one hidden at the bottom of the cupboards right next to the bin! This was a super challenging distraction because there was leftovers in that bin but every single dog dismissed it even our gorgeous Labrador 😂
So much fantastic work to observe - the change of behaviour as dogs encountered their target (watch for the head turn or change in intensity & focus). And particularly the detailing as dogs started intently sniffing as they worked to find the source. We could see the intent focus and hear the sniffing!
Huge well done to Errol, Kaiser, Mako, Shadow, Billie & Leo 👏👏👏
Week 4 of Introduction to Scentwork & graduation!!
We challenged the dogs with some interesting searches - one in a corner next to the grey cupboards.

Billie & Kaiser cruising through Scent classes - and we get to see how different sized dogs pick up odour (see Kaiser pick up scent & follow it across the seat of the chair).
We introduced a night-time vehicle search in week 3 of my Follow-on Scent Class. This group is hitting it out of the park & are loving their searches!
Amazing work everyone! 👏👏👏
Recalls! Most puppies love to jump & depending on how big a puppy is going to grow most of us don’t want our dogs jumping on us when we call them!
So we teach them that keeping 4 feet on the floor is part of their recall & it’s beautiful to see how quickly it becomes the default.
Foundations taught in puppy class - skills to build on through adolescence & beyond!
Building strong foundations in my Introduction to Scentwork class - learning that odour pays!
In week 3 we introduce recalls & experiment with different rewards - does your puppy love toys? Food? Or something else?
We had 4/5 want food but Rubi LOVES tug & toy play 🐾🤩
Week 3 at @monavalevet
The boys 🥰 - Oscar, Teddy & Ollie having a great time in week 3 of puppy class @gordonvet
Fantastic week 1 intro to Scentwork class at @pittwateranimalhospital
We introduced odour, worked on communication, timing, building great associations to this new odour & everyone did a great job - and the dogs worked beautifully + got very tired!
This group of tiny powerhouses came to class raring to go & ready to learn (& earn their breakfast)! But they took plenty of time to nap as well check my stories to see them chilling out!
Week 1 @monavalevet
Georgie working hard checking all the available spaces to let me know there was only one target odour hidden!
Thanks to Sue from @pinniclephotography for these great shots of Georgie doing her favourite thing at a recent Scentwork trial. We had to find 3 hides across 2 rooms, this was room 1 of 2, I knew there was either one or two odours hidden & we had to make the call - our first go at this level & very happy to pass 🤩
