🐾4 PAWS IS NO MORE…just kidding!🐾
Things have been a little quiet on here recently, the business has been soaring which has left little time for keeping up to date with social media - a good problem to have, I know. A lot has been going on behind the scenes, things that we are so excited to unveil over the next few weeks. But we thought the best place to start before anything else is with..well the biggest change of them all! After 7 years as 4 Paws Adventures we decided it was time for a change, and we have a shiny new logo to go with it! So from here on out we would like to introduce you to Kyle’s K9’s 🐾

A 7 year established training and behaviour academy for canines of all sizes, ages, and problems! Get in touch today to find out about our training programs and to get booked in for a consultation 🐶

NEVER the breed, ALWAYS the owner 🐾

Seeing the recent decision to ban XL Bully’s here in the UK is a devastating one, but not an unexpected one. For too long the narrative around these beautiful breeds has been that THEY are to blame for the actions of irresponsible breeders and owners. It is a tale as old as time at this point and one that requires a new ending instead of these innocent breeds suffering the consequences.

Bad ownership and back yard breeding happens everyday with every breed, it’s time to start punishing the people and NOT the animal.

Please join us here at 4 Paws Adventures, as well as the hundreds of thousands of others to sign the below petition - Link is also in our stories.

Let’s fight this, NOW.

Dog breeders are NOT trainers:

Through out the years of working with various clients, breeds, and requirements, queries about breeders recommending specific training techniques for the dogs they are selling has became more and more common. There are a lot of excellent breeders out there who have great knowledge of the breeds they sell; but a lot of the time they have had no previous traning background - or very little traning background - and give out some really bad and ultimately dangerous advice on training. Why is this? because breeders are NOT trainers.
Many reputable breeders will be trying to provide the best start for the owners and the pup, and with breed knowledge can come great advice and the ability to point many new (and old) owners in the right direction of a solid foundation for the basics of training, sit, stay, all that great stuff. But let’s not forget that training is not a one size fits all regime, not for a specific bread, not for a specific litter, and not for a specifc dog. And because of this, breeders well intentioned advice to owners can actually result in reactivity, dogs pulling and taking over walks, anxiety or fear disorders, lack of boundaries and then suddenly your dog is running the home and running you. When it comes to training it is ALWAYS best to consult with a qualified trainer that has the experience and knowledge that is going to better your dog and guide them on the right path. All we want as trainers is to give them the best in life and a life that they will enjoy, and not only that, but you guys will enjoy life with your pup so much more. An educated decision is always the best decision, get in touch if you have any training or behaviours queries - we are always here and happy to help 🐾

🐾Puppy Week Day 2🐾
This is a time of year that puppies are so popular, we just want to spoil them with lots of love and toys, and it’s all so exciting…However, it is from the moment they are home that it becomes integral to start teaching boundaries, manners, and letting them know what you expect from them as the newest addition to the household. Giving a puppy structure, boundaries and healthy engagement is the best way to love your new pup and in turn creates that strong bond we all want with our new four legged companion. The puppy stage is hard, and can be testing to even the most experienced dog owner - but implementing structure and leadership from they second they arrive helps make those early puppy days…or sometimes weeks go a little smoother. Dogs are such intelligent beings and they thrive and often crave those boundaries. Get in touch today to arrange a consultation if you are going through the early puppy blues or considering bringing a new companion in to your home 🐶

🐾PUPPY WEEK🐾
It’s puppy week here at 4 Paws and we are going to share a weeks worth of puppy need-to-knows, training tips, enrichment ideas, and LOTS of cute puppy content. We are kicking the week off talking about those all important puppy joints and bones
➡️ swipe to see just how they look!
An 8/10 week old puppies bones don't even touch yet. They plod around cutely with big floppy paws & wobbly movement because their joints are entirely made up of muscle, tendons, ligaments with skin covering. Nothing is fitting tightly together or has a true socket yet.
When you run them excessively or don't restrict their exercise to stop them from overdoing it during this period you don't give them a chance to grow properly. Every big jump or excited, bouncing run causes impacts between the bones. In reasonable amounts this is not problematic and is the normal wear and tear that every animal will engage in.
But when you're letting puppy jump up and down off the lounge or bed, take them for long walks/hikes, you are damaging that forming joint. When you let the puppy scramble on tiles with no traction you are damaging the joint.
You only get the chance to grow them once. A well built body is something that comes from excellent breeding and a great upbringing-BOTH, not just one.

Once grown you will have the rest of their life to spend playing and engaging in higher impact exercise. So keep it calm while they're still little baby puppies and give the gift that can only be given once 🐶

Stick around this week to keep updated on all things puppy related 🐾

Big welcome to the beautiful 8 month old Wilbur 🐾
This big chunk isn’t quite aware of his own strength so we are working on his lead handling as well as his approach to meeting other dogs out and about. Good to have you on board Wilbur 🐶

Just want to say a big thank you for all the support yesterday as well, it’s endlessly appreciated 😊

🐾PLEASE READ🐾
It’s been very sadly brought to our attention that someone has been reporting our account for ‘animal abuse’.
This is not only deeply upsetting, but so painfully untrue.
As someone who has dedicated their life to helping dogs and owners, it is devastating to see such things.
Part of this help is using the necessary tools to help these pups get to the right place for them to be able to live the best life for them and their owner.
It is very apparent that one of these tools is what has caused ‘concern’ for this severely misinformed individual.
If people would like to be educated about any of the tools we use, then please do not hesitate to drop us a message.
We are always happy to talk about the incredible benefits, and unfortunate misconceptions, about these lifesaving pieces of equipment.
And to all our incredible dogs and owners who we are working with currently, or have worked with in the past, if you would be so kind as to share any experience you have had with us either in the comments below or through message to help us fight this – it would be endlessly appreciated.
At the end of the day, I will always stand by the work that I do.
There is me and a family behind this work and fruitless claims of abuse effect more than just an Instagram page.
Sorry for the long ‘ranting’ post.
We will hopefully be back to normal posting tomorrow 🐾

this little guy is starting out on a big training adventure! Bobby is very reactive and guards his owner to the point of aggression. We can’t wait to get this little one to a place of calm and neutrality 🐾

One of Louie’s biggest issues is his energy and approach when meeting other dogs. Louie calmly completed his walk and Pippa aided him in showing the correct way to greet other dogs, well done Louie and Pippa 🐶

Why is decompression important for your dog?
The premise behind decompression is allowing the dog to get back to a neutral and relaxed state of mind. Your dog needs leadership and calm predictability. These two things are crucial to your dog. There are many ways your pup can decompress, such as decompression walks, ‘place’ command, lick mats, and so much more 🐶
