It is with profound sorrow that we share the loss of our beloved rescue piggy, Arnold, affectionately known as Tito, who came into our lives from North Lauderdale in late April. On Tuesday evening, Arnold began having convulsions and was rushed to the hospital. His sanctuary mom, overwhelmed with worry and confusion, had pleaded with the doctors to do everything in their power to save him. She had fallen deeply in love with Arnold and had already decided he would stay with her forever.Despite the tireless efforts of the medical team, Arnold left us. Arnold was loved beyond measure and his absence leaves an aching void in our hearts. In his short time with us, he brought immense joy and warmth, touching our lives in ways we will never forget. His memory will forever be cherished and his spirit will always be with us. Rest in peace, sweet Arnold aka Tito. 🌟 **Meet Charlotte and Wilbur 🌟** Hi all! We have an incredible story to share about our recent rescue mission! Before Easter, our team embarked on a mission to rescue lambs from slaughter/undisclosed locations like meat farms. Despite facing numerous setbacks and moments of doubt, our determination never wavered. After months of perseverance, we are thrilled to announce that we successfully rescued two beautiful babies – Charlotte and Wilbur! Born in January, these sweet souls were surrendered by a farmer who willingly surrendered due to their failure to thrive. We are immensely grateful to our friends at @farmofhopeflorida for providing Charlotte and Wilbur with a loving and caring home. They even have a wonderful brother, Charlie, to share their journey with! Since their arrival on May 5th, they’ve been closely monitoring their health. The recent vet appointment brought some good news – Wilbur, despite facing failure to thrive, is responding well to extra attention and specialized care. He’s had his first round of vaccines, with more to follow in the coming weeks. Unfortunately, Charlotte has been running a high temperature, but she’s receiving the necessary treatment and care. Despite her setback, we’re optimistic about her recovery. As we witness their progress and the love they receive at @farmofhopeflorida we’re inspired to give back. We’re reaching out to our community for support in raising funds for Charlotte and Wilbur’s care and upcoming neuter. Turns out, Peterina was spotted near the firehouse/ library station in Miami Lakes as early as January! 🐰 Poor girl must have been through a lot. After a couple weeks of inseparable companionship, Agnes has been reunited with her best friend of over 7 years! • Agnes and Twinkle are adorable pig best friends that have shared every moment together, and their bond is truly unbreakable. Agnes must have been wondering where her beloved friend was, and when they were finally reunited, the joy on her face said it all. • This past weekend, we were overjoyed to pick up Agnes and bring her back to Twinkle. 🐷 Hey everyone, have I got a story for you! • So, last month, someone dropped off a little potbelly pig in a front yard up in North Lauderdale. Talk about a surprise visitor, right? As time grew by, the neighbors were split – some totally smitten, others not so much. On Wednesday we got a call to see if we were interested in saving this sweet . Saw the cutie on Thursday and decided: “Yep, we gotta save this pig!” 🦸‍♂️ But let me tell you, catching a pig? Not as easy as it sounds! First try, no success. Second try, almost had him! But no luck. So, we called in a favor from a friend who’s a pro at this stuff. And today, drumroll please... we got him! Little Arnold is officially out of harm’s way. No more dodging cars or worrying about neighbors that can harm him. Now, he’s got a shot at a happy, pig-tastic life with humans he can trust. 🎉 Huge shoutout to everyone who pitched in. You rock! Happy #wednesday We wanted to provide an update on Twinkle’s condition and ask for your continued support in her journey towards recovery. We’re relieved to share that yesterday, around 10 am, after a nerve-wracking 36 hours, Twinkle finally urinated and passed plenty of stool, indicating a positive turn in her condition. She’s still a bit tired, but the medication appears to be working. We gave her a bath to clean her up, as the ordeal left her quite filthy. However, there’s still a matter of concern regarding the mass on her snout, which requires surgical intervention. We understand that the accompanying video might be difficult to watch, but it’s essential to raise awareness of Twinkle’s urgent need for surgery. We’re preparing for the medical costs and ongoing medication, and your donations are crucial in ensuring Twinkle receives the care she urgently requires. Have you met Pickle? • This precious sheep was surrendered to us this past Tuesday by a student who was part of the FFA program at their school. The student, who had raised Pickle from a young age, found herself facing a heartbreaking reality when she realized that signing him up for a local show meant signing his death sentence. Despite her efforts to save him, she learned that once animals are auctioned off, they are often sent straight to slaughter. Recognizing Pickle as a living being with feelings, she refused to let him meet such a fate. With the support of her parents, they fought for Pickle’s life in court, and thankfully, he’s now safe and sound at our foster home @aguacatesanctuaryandrescue awaiting transport to his forever home @laughingpigsanctuary . This story sheds light on a larger issue within FFA programs and agricultural shows. How many other students have faced this same dilemma? How many innocent animals have lost their lives due to outdated laws and practices? Pickle’s journey reminds us of the importance of being a voice for the voiceless. 🐰 **Rescued Bunny Alert!** 🐰 This precious bunny was found abandoned in Miami Lakes, most likely left behind by its owners. Thankfully, a compassionate citizen spotted the bunny and reached out to us for help. With the incredible support of our dedicated volunteers @stephyandaless and the expertise of @marina_island_bunnies , who has been rescuing bunnies for some time now, we were able to safely rescue this sweet soul. • Just look at that face and those ears! It breaks our hearts to think that this little one was left alone and vulnerable. But thanks to the kindness of strangers and the dedication of our animal loving community, this bunny now has a chance at a happy and loving home. • We’re incredibly grateful to have such amazing people in our community who we can always rely on in times of need. Meet Dixie, a sweet soul rescued from a slaughterhouse, who, despite a challenging start, found a forever home. • Dixie, pregnant at the time of her rescue, gave birth to adorable babies who have all found loving homes. Thanks to the dedicated care of her foster parents, she’s been spayed and vetted, but her quest for a permanent home continued until now. • We are overjoyed to announce that Dixie, along with her rooster best friend GC, found sanctuary at the beautiful @finka305 . Mr. Foghorn found solace in a foster home @aguacatesanctuaryandrescue (still on the lookout for his forever home). • Wednesday –The week unfolded, and our energy waned as we said goodbye to our friend, but our commitment remained steadfast. • Thursday marked the climax of our tireless efforts, culminating in an emotional yet rewarding day. a double mission. Patty, with hopeful eyes, joined us from FRIENDS Sanctuary, and @peace_love_piglady played hero, escorting Borris from Redlands. Together, we made our way to @petexpressanimalhospital in Davie, where @sanforvet and his team awaited, weaving a tapestry of care and compassion.Exhaustion lingered, but the satisfaction of knowing these beautiful beings were on a path to brighter days fueled our spirits. • And here we are on this Flashback Friday, reflecting on January 2024 – a month that kicked off with a rollercoaster of emotions, ups and downs intertwining like a dance.
