For anyone that may have been trying to reach me, my sincerest apologies! This time of year is typically busy for us. On top of the emu and peafowl hatching, that occupies much of our time, there has been so much more going on in our lives unrelated to our farm. It has been a lot and truthfully I have felt overwhelmed and spread a bit thin- and that is ok! I just want everyone to know I am not ignoring you and I apologize for not reaching out and for not returning or answering calls, etc.. I promise I am trying to play catch up and some days I feel like I am treading water- but I’m getting good at it! 😂

Ansley and a friend were hurt the other night, but are ok and are lucky things were not so much worse! I won’t go into details here, but both girls have concussions and whiplash. Ansley also has a black eye and bruised nose, thankfully her nose isn’t broken and both of their lives were spared! I am so thankful to her friend’s mom that took them to the doctor to have them checked out! I won’t mention names in case they don’t want me to share that info. Ansley JUST had a concussion weeks ago and this is , I think, the third or fourth one in three years. She has had at least seven concussions, which is scary to me. Neither had to spend the night in the hospital, but they did go to get checked out and will be returning to work soon.

On top of that, many of you know we recently had to put our dog, Jake , down which kind of got me off track of things as I emotionally checked out for a bit as I mourn his loss. Ansley has recently started attending a program to train her dog, I will share about that at a later point, but I am attending with her and it is a bit of a drive from the house. We are also still getting things prepared and ready for Ansley to move into her first apartment. Then, Jamie’s job has been keeping him busy and working more and at times, in different locations. This is life! However, juggling it all and trying to maintain friendships and also respond to calls , texts and messages about our emus and peafowl has been a bit tricky.

So friends , bear with me! I love you all and am not ignoring or avoiding you! Now, if you will excuse me I need to return a customer’s call from about 4 hours ago!

❤️XOXOX

The best part of what we do is our customers! I could raise animals all day long but it certainly wouldn’t be worth it without the relationships formed with the amazing people I have met along the way. It is a win win for me- I get to live with and around animals that bring me joy and laughter and it also allows me to meet incredible, like minded people that I wouldn’t otherwise get to meet if I didn’t raise emus and peafowl.

So, to all of you amazing people, friends I’ve met along the way, I want to thank you so much! You truly are what helps to bring brightness to my days and help this incredible life be even more amazing! Thank you for entrusting us and for also allowing me to call you “ friend!”

One of my blonde emus is convinced I should be her mate. She chases off females and possible suitors in hopes of me mating her. I wish she’d fancy one of the males!

Many of you know I added blonde and white emus to the farm this year after being on a wait list for
Over a year. I was so excited to bring them home! The blondes and whites seem to be more relaxed and calm
In nature. I haven’t figured out names for them all yet but the white Male is “Possum.” I hope to offer both blondes and whites in about a year and a half to amazing homes. If you are interested in being added to the wait list for standard colored emus next year, or the blondes and whites when I have them, please feel

These peafowl 🦚 eggs have been collected over the last several days. I’ve been collecting them to place a lot in the incubator at one time. I have some due to hatch on or about the 14th and then two more batches after that due to hatch.

Hatching our peafowl are a lot of
work but I enjoy seeing what we will
get. My husband is not a big talker but we do well working together. Well, I say that but if we actually were employeed somewhere together me might kill each other lol. Household projects, hatching and raising birds and other hobbies we do well together. Raising peafowl is definitely a labor of love. Lots of hard work involved. I’ve hatched a lot
Of different birds, peafowl are by far the most difficult to not just hatch, but to raise as well. All of my peafowl are raised off the ground until 4-6
Months of age. Soon, it’s going to be crazy around here with all the babies. I’m up to the challenge!

I said I had a fabulous day yesterday and would share about it today. Well, I have been on the waitlist with Emu Island’s Joanne Ƀartell for blonde and white emus for at least a year. I had been patiently waiting as her wait list is extensive, and for good reason. The plan came together very quickly and within a few short hours of talking to her I was picking up my new babies. I have not gotten any white babies yet because her wait list is extensive for those as well. Hopefully she will produce enough whites this year that I will get those too this season. If not, there is always next year.

I want to say that Joanne has become not just my mentor with my emus, but my dear friend. Meeting her and her husband was truly the highlight of my day! I wish we had more time but these babies needed to get home and get some food in their bellies and the heat lamp
On them.

If you are looking for Blonde or white emus I highly suggest Joanne, but don’t wait - I’m sure her lists for next year will be filling up too!

For those that have been waiting on emu chicks, my emus finally began to lay again. So strange that they started, laid 2 then stopped. They just began laying again. I will go down my wait list as eggs are laid to let you know if I should have some available. Thank you so much for all of your patience!

Well it is past due for sure! Began to think I’d only get two eggs this year!
