WinWin Animal Rescue We are a new animal rescue just getting set up. Please follow up for updates!

Hello all!

I see that we have new followers and that is amazing! I want to thank you all for being here and supporting us.

This is a bit of a vulnerable post regarding the future of WinWin. As you know we are very small and at this moment (well for the last few months) we have had very limited resources.

It is discouraging when we can’t take in animals because we don’t have foster homes available.
When we began this journey we honestly thought it would be a lot easier to recruit fosters. Don’t get me wrong we have had amazing fosters step up to the plate and put in the time, love and effort to help cats and kittens find loving forever homes.

But the reality is that fostering is hard and it takes a lot out of you, emotionally, physically and financially. We fully understand this and we are working on a plan to be able to assist with more of these needs and make it easier on our fosters.

We have received feedback from our previous fosters. And we are taking this to heart.
I’d like for you to take a moment and share with us what you would need to become a foster for us. We want to know what we can do better as a rescue to be more accommodating to our fosters.

Please remember we are new to this and we are learning right along side you. There are going to to hiccups and setbacks. But we know that this is our calling. We want to help animals in need in anyway that we can.

Thank you again for sticking with us through the ups and downs. We are truly so grateful for each of you.

We are very pleased to announce a partnership with an amazing Utah artist, Levi Larsen!

Levi is a talented artist in Orem, Utah. He attended art classes at the University of Utah and paints representational art in oils and watercolor.

Levi has agreed to donate a portion of all sales to our rescue in July and August! We are so excited to work with him on this project and can’t wait to see some of the amazingly beautiful art he creates!

Levi may be emailed at [email protected].

Let us know if you have any questions, and as always please share this post so we can get as many eyes on it as possible!

Thanks! 😊

Hello Community!
We have been contacted by a member Hilary, asking for help rehoming 20 cats!

The situation is- a family member of hers has fallen ill and is no longer able to care for the cats they have taken in. To our knowledge there are no major medical issues. Hilary is receiving assistance from another local rescue but they are running out of time before the city takes over.

Currently WinWin is not in a position to physically help her. After the last litter of kittens our resources have been drastically reduced. However; I know there may be someone out there able to take in a kitty or two (or more) 😉

If you think you may be able to help please reach out and I’ll get you in contact with her.

Thank you!

Hello All,
I want to update you on Fox,C**n,Bear and Wolf.

They had stopped eating Wednesday and began vomiting later that night. We took them to the vet Thursday where they tested positive Panleuk. Which is a very contagious virus.

After a dose of antibiotic and fluids I brought them home to quarantine. After a tough night I made the call to relinquish them to a larger organization better equipped to treat the virus.

This wasn’t what we had planned to do. It was our goal to see it through to the end. however sometimes in rescue you come across a situation that you just are not prepared to handle. We are sad to see the kittens leave WinWin but we are happy to know they are receiving the care they need.

This has been a lesson learned for us as a new small rescue. We know that we will be prepared in the future.

Thank you for your support!

💛💙🐈‍⬛🐈💙💛

Please send positive thoughts and love to Fox,C**n,Bear and Wolf.

I would like to apologize to you for every animal rescuer you feel has ever let you down, been less than cheerful or said no to helping you. I would also like to explain to you why you need to extend grace to all of them. ❤️

They are all volunteers. This means on top of their normal lives (YES! Rescuers have jobs, spouses, children, friends, parents, pets of their own, foster animals, cars that break down, doctors appointments, grass to mow, laundry to fold, etc.) they CHOOSE to help people because they deeply care about the welfare of animals.

All day long they hear or read:
❗️Oh my gosh, please go help that poor cat right now!
❗️I really need your help! I've got 8 cats here and 2 are pregnant.
❗️I couldn't afford to get my cat fixed, but she is indoor only so I thought it was fine. But she got out and now she's pregnant. I need you to help me get her fixed and I'll give the kittens away.
❗️I need you to come out and get rid of all these cats!
❗️I just found five 2-day old kittens and the mama has rejected them. You HAVE to come and get them!
❗️I'm moving in a week so I need you find my cat a good home pretty quick.

While most of those sound like reasonable requests, the problem is "I need", "I want", "you have to". Guess what? We don't. We want to, but we don't have to.

It would be so refreshing to hear:
✅ I would like some advice as to the best and safest way to rehome my cat.
✅ I just found young kittens, what is the best thing for me to do for them?
✅ These cats have to stop breeding. What do I need to do to make that happen?
✅ I know I should have fixed my cat even though she stays indoors, but she accidentally got out and now she's pregnant. What is the best course of action to make sure this doesn't happen again? And how do I go about the process of rehoming the kittens and making sure they are properly vetted?
✅ I found a stray cat that needs medical help. May I come pick up a trap and if I catch him, what do I do next?

You see, rescuers are no different than you. They are just regular folks with a little more knowledge (that they are always happy to share with you!) as well as supplies you may need (that they are happy to loan out!). But there's only a handful of people doing this and they can't be everywhere at once. You have to realize they are dealing with multiple situations and locations DAILY. That's where you have to step in and offer to help them! Afterall, you wouldn't be reaching out to them if you didn't care about the animal as well. You can be just as valuable to that animal in need as they can with the right guidance and supplies. Be that "somebody" the kitty needs.

Hello!! We are Fox, C**n, Bear and Wolf. We are siblings looking for our forever home. We are confident enough to be adopted alone but we think it would be awesome to go in pairs. Our friends at WinWin Animal Rescue say two is always more fun 😉 and it prevents single kitten syndrome!!

We are kittens, so our vibe rightnow is eat, sleep, play, repeat. We will be officially ready for adoption starting June 5, 2024. You can apply to adopt us at

Please feel free to contact WinWin Animal Rescue with any questions.

Please be aware and think through what chemicals you’re using and how they might affect the world and lives around you. This is not just our planet, our neighborhoods, our homes. This place belongs to all of us. And we need to take better care of those who don’t have a say in the matter. Please!

Meet Hobo. Hobo was eating bugs in a person's lawn, so they decided to call an exterminator. Pesticide was sprayed on the lawn and under the house. Six weeks later he was brought to us emaciated, lacking aggression and covered in ant bites. A few days of a nutritious diet, meds, and hydration has him up on his feet. Sadly it looks as though our smelly friend has some lasting neurological damage from the chemicals sprayed, and cannot walk or run without falling over. He can no longer hunt for food and would die if released. Skunks, birds, armadillo, possum and many others are at the mercy of those who spray toxic chemicals to kill bugs. When contemplating pest control, please think of Hobo and his friends that will die alongside those grubs and grasshoppers.

This morning, as I was walking to work, I walked into a vestibule to go into a building. As I approached the building, I noticed a guy who had just walked in looking at the automatic door weird. Kind of waving his arms around. I thought, jokingly, maybe he’s just trying to figure out how the sensors work because that’s what it looked like he was doing. But he eventually moved on, as did countless others going into and out of the building.

As I came into the vestibule, I saw a little bird trapped inside this small glass box. He was frantic! Flying and crashing into every window in his attempt to be free. And he hit those windows hard. He’d fall to the ground, breathing heavy, stunned. I was already late to work, but I couldn’t walk past. So I stayed, attempting to catch him in my bare hands, only to have him get around me in his panic. Many more walked past, looking at me, but going on their way, unaffected. Finally, someone came up the stairs and saw what I was attempting to do and stopped. He said, I can help. I have gloves on. This gentleman and I both tried to corner the bird to grab it. It was still in a panic, frantically trying to escape. But each time he hit the window and fell, he stayed down a little longer. And laid a little flatter. I was really worried he’d kill himself with the force of his crashes. If the crashes didn’t kill him, surely the stress would. Birds are such fragile creatures. Another woman came through and stopped. She took off her jacket and said here, use this to try and cover him. It took several more attempts between the three of us, but we were finally able to catch him. The gentleman took the bird outside and set him on top of a utility box. He didn’t move. I could still see him breathing heavy, but I was afraid that perhaps he had done too much damage, and he wasn’t going to make it. Both the gentleman and I stayed there to make sure he was ok. After the bird didn’t move, he picked it up again and put it in a nearby tree. And after a couple more seconds, he flew away. I don’t know what the outcome of that little bird will be. I only hope he’s ok.

The reason I tell this story is because it got me thinking. Not metaphorically about how we all are the little bird at times in our lives. No, I thought I don’t know if anyone would have stopped to help the bird if I hadn’t stopped first. I'm not trying to congratulate myself, or look for kudos here, but I thought, sometimes, all it takes is one person to make a difference. One person before someone else will join in. One person to show others the way. Today, as I reflect on this experience, I encourage us all to be that one person. Be the first to stop and help, even the smallest of creatures. Don’t walk by someone or something in distress. We all need help sometimes. And sometimes, we need to be the one to offer that help.

Everyone who is thinking of getting dogs should read this because you need to understand this reality:

***I am a 21st century dog.***
-I'm a Malinois.
Overskilled among dogs, I excel in all disciplines and I'm always ready to work: I NEED to work.
But nowadays I get asked to chill on the couch all day everyday.

-I am an Akita Inu.
My ancestors were selected for fighting bears.
Today I get asked to be tolerant and I get scolded for my reactivity when another approaches me.

-I am a Beagle.
When I chase my prey, I raise my voice so the hunters could follow.
Today they put an electric collar on me to shut up, and you make me come back to you - no running - with a snap of your fingers.

-I am a Yorkshire Terrier.
I was a terrifying rat hunter in English mines.
Today they think I can't use my legs and they always hold me in their arms.

-I'm a Labrador Retriever.
My vision of happiness is a dive into a pond to bring back the duck he shot to my master.
Today you forget I'm a walking, running, swimming dog; as a result I'm fat, made to stay indoors, and to babysit.

-I am a Jack Russell.
I can take on a fox, a mean badger, and a rat bigger than me in his den.
Today I get scolded for my character and high energy, and forced to turn into a quiet living room dog.

-I am a Siberian Husky.
Experienced the great, wide open spaces of Northern Europe, where I could drag sleds for long distances at impressive speeds.
Today I only have the walls of the house or small garden as a horizon, and the holes I dig in the ground just to release energy and frustration, trying to stay sane.

-I am a border collie
I was made to work hours a day in partnershipwith my master, and I am an unmistakable artist of working with the herd.
Today they are mad at me because, for lack of sheep, I try to check bikes, cars, children in the house and everything in motion.

I am ...
I am a 21st century dog.
I'm pretty, I'm alert, I'm obedient, I stay in a bag...but I'm also an individual who, from centuries of training, needs to express my instincts, and I am *not* suited for the sedentary life you'd want me to lead.
Spending eight hours a day alone in the house or in the garden - with no work and no one to play or run with, seeing you for a short time in the evening when you get home, and only getting a small toilet walk will make me deeply unhappy.
I'll express it by barking all day, turning your yard into a minefield, doing my needs indoors, being unmanageable the rare times I'll find myself outside, and sometimes spending my days sunk, sad, lonely, and depressed, on my pillow.
You may think that I should be happy to be able to enjoy all this comfort while you go to work, but actually I’ll be exhausted and frustrated, because this is absolutely NOT what I'm meant to do, or what I need to be doing.
If you love me, if you've always dreamed of me, if my beautiful blue eyes or my athletic look make you want me, but you can't give me a real dog's life, a life that's really worth living according to my breed, and if you can't offer me the job that my genes are asking, DO NOT buy or adopt me!
If you like the way I look but aren't willing to accept my temperament, gifts, and traits derived from long genetic selection, and you think you can change them with only your good will, then DO NOT BUY OR ADOPT ME.
I’m a dog from the 21st century, yes, but deep inside me, the one who fought, the one who hunted, the one who pulled sleds, the one who guided and protected a herd still lives within.
So think **very** carefully before you choose your dog. And think about getting two, rather than one, so I won't be so very lonely waiting for you all day. Eight or ten hours is just a workday to you, but it's an eternity for me to be alone.

KITTEN SEASON HAS BEGUN!!!!

"This time of year, open all the plastic bags, all the cardboard boxes.

When you see by the road, a bag with something inside, don't ride on it but please stop to check the contents.

Open your ears and eyes, at the edge of the ditches, bins, alleyways, whether in town or in the countryside."

Per Google - March 17th is the feast day of one very special saint, who is often overlooked by the history books. Her name is Saint Gertrude of Nivelles, and she's the Patron Saint of CATS.
