Our trip was nothing short of perfect—plenty of space for the pups to roam and unwind @archers_ridge after our days exploring the National Park’s beautiful trails. 🏞️ The scenic hikes were breathtaking, and it felt amazing to experience nature with our whole family🐾
After adventuring, we indulged in local flavors—delicious food from @theblacktwigdiner and @beforeandaftersperryville and countless dog-friendly wineries @vineyardsducard made the trip extra special. 🍷🍽️ We were surprised by how welcoming the nearby town was, with outdoor seating at restaurants and even dog treats at the local shops. 🦴

Instead, we send them to their crate. Instead, we send them outside alone. Instead, we give them a lick mat so they stay out of our hair.
What if we take those moments of frustration with our dogs and use it to connect. Sit outside in the grass with them. Bring them to their favorite fire hydrant to smell. Find their favorite toy and be silly for 5 minutes.

It is my belief that we owe it to our dogs to fulfill them, not just keep them alive. Dogs deserve physical health, mental health, social interactions, training- and so much more!
On a weekly basis I make it a priority to give my dogs adequate exercise, nutritious foods, mental enrichment, training, social interactions, and time to move freely in nature (arguably the MOST important).
Truth be told- Pax and Pixie have never destroyed anything, counter surfed, barked out the window, struggled with settling, etc.
Do they have fantastic genetics? Nope. Are they easy, low energy breeds? Heck no! Do I make it a priority to fulfill them and set them up for success? YES!!!

Dogs are not accessories.
I often hear this said about small, ‘purse’ dogs. But honestly, it goes for big dogs too. There are so many people who have a dog just to have a dog.
You know just what I’m talking about. Dogs who wake up, eat, get let into the backyard, and MAYBE go for a walk.
Dogs need mental fulfillment, physical exercise, and social exposure. Especially working breed dogs that are becoming more and more popular due to their looks.
PLEASE research breeds before you choose a dog.
How will you fulfill your dogs herding drive? What is your plan for your dogs prey drive?
Are you okay with a dog who is prone to being protective? Aloof? Vocal?
Our dogs deserve more.

All throughout my pregnancy, I was told once I had my baby my life with my dogs would change.
❌Wrong!
I have made it a priority to keep my dogs happy, fulfilled, and part of the family. That means hikes, breweries, vacations- they are always included! I want my daughter to grow up and see what it means to be a dedicated, responsible dog owner. I chose to have a baby, why should the dogs suffer?
Is it tiring? Yes! Am I always on the go? Yes! But I wouldn’t have it any other way.
This is just my experience, and I am so grateful I am able to share it with all of you🫶🏻
