Over the past week, we have accepted 11 cats and kittens into our shelter. 3 owner surrenders, a pregnant mom, a nursing mom and 7 kittens.

Our intake list for owner surrenders has almost 40 cats on it. Each day, we get between 3-5 requests for surrender. This week alone, we had 25 owner surrenders requests. Two were for 10+ cats. JUST THIS WEEK. 🤯

We are trying to maintain “one in, one out”. For every cat adopted, we bring one in. But with the overwhelming number of owner surrenders coupled with our “usual” intakes of strays, humane cases and emergencies - we’re always at capacity and having to say “No” more than we like.

Shelters can’t be the only solution to the pet overpopulation problem. There simply isn’t enough resources, time and adopters to adopt our way out of this. While we do the best we can, shelters and rescues need the community to do their part - spay and neuter your pets and support TNR initiatives. Keep your indoor pets, inside. Work to find a solution that allows you to KEEP your pet instead of surrendering them.

And most of all, ADOPT.
