I have never been one for Halloween. But I felt like doing something different, and I thought getting out of my comfort zone and pushing my limits would be a good therapy at this time. Well I was right Fort Edmonton after Dark was just what I needed. Scared the crap out of me - all these feelings experienced, fun, laughter, tears, uncontrollable screams, jumps, and frights of every kind!! Thank you Gail Terry for a great evening.

Got to visit with a large group of warm hearts today at IHACS❤️💫. The young man in the picture was really scared of dogs just a few months ago. Today he played, petted a Starla gave him a gentle face kiss - that he leaned in for.

I took these photos because I noticed they have a reoccurring pattern. The weak trees are reaching out for the strong trees for support, to lean on. Sometimes they go really out of their way for that support, but they try to survive. Something like the unsheltered and vulnerable people in our community at present. And homelessness isn’t just limited to Spruce Grove.

First event with our unsheltered friends today, as Joyful Street Works! Breakfast for lunch at the park. Ham and egg muffins, hash browns, apple strudel muffins, yogurt parfaits, coffee and juice. Everything was still warm and fresh. The turn out was good and they’re were no leftovers. Thank you Jamie Jaime Hammel for your contributions and help.

We had an awesome day today!! We picked up a friend, picked up a lunch at Auggies Cafe, did some laundry and went for a medical appointment. While at Auggies our new journey path enter twined with a path we’ve been travelling for a year and 1/2 now. While at Auggies we ran into a group of our senior friends from Copper Sky! Starla was beside herself with happiness!!❤️💫

Starla 💫 and I have been supporting people through our wellness team for over a year now and our work has been rewarding and successful. For the 25 plus years before Joyful Dog Therapy Services we spent time supporting vulnerable people in our communities through empowerment and self improvement programs. Over the last while, we have been boots on the ground, supporting and advocating for the unsheltered and vulnerable people in Spruce Grove, Stony Plain and Parkland County. We are fiercely passionate about this cause and my husband Mosa(Moe) has joined our team as well. This has lead us to create a new branch “Joyful Street Works.”
Please like our new page once it’s up. Events, updates & offerings will be posted regularly. We hope you will join us in the journey of supporting our unsheltered, vulnerable communities.

This is what can happen when Community Supports works together and collaborate! This brings me a moment of happiness! I’m grateful for the new Spruce Grove Outreach Team and all of us trying to make things better for our unsheltered, vulnerable friends and families.

On this gorgeous day I was walking Starla. I looked up at the sky and the moon was out and a jet was heading towards it. I had a thought and made a manifestation that I know is going to happen. A butterfly came and hung out, flitting all around. The way it was flying around I got the feeling it was amazing happy, this little butterfly. This had great significance for me as butterflies were the underlying theme at a friend’s Celebration of Life last weekend. I felt her presence and know her energy and spirit is with me! After the park Starla and I went to the bank and started chatting with a couple about Starla’s work and life journey. We have common interests and we exchanged contact information. This is going to lead us to work with a new group of people.
Thank you Ruthy and I felt you today ♥️💫♥️🦋🦋🦋🦋

If anyone is looking for an outstanding dog trainer Contact My Pawsome Connection Dog Training & Behavior. Starla is beginning to do things she learned in the class, a few months ago, on her own. Before we met Gisela, Starla was doing pretty good but now she’s aware and offers all by herself. Her body awareness is really sharp.

I am finding Starla’s skills are evolving. Yesterday I bathed her and she calmly backed out of the tub (with a step) normally she scrambles kind of panicky (even though I assist her). It’s a stay home day today and of course she’s board. So I set up the obstacle course. Today she negotiated all 6 cones and jumped over and under the noodle. When taking a training class sometimes success doesn’t come readily but over time I’ve learned that eventually new skills show up on their own when you least expect them to. New talents = more enjoyment for those we visit ❤️💫.

Last week before I left for Ontario to see my Mom, Starla and I started a new placement at Edmonton People In Need. Starla really enjoyed bringing comfort and joy to a new group of friends; and I loved connecting with new friends and watching Starla work her magic 💫🌟. No pictures due to privacy ❤️.
Stay tuned for more new placement updates soon!

This morning I was feeling super depressed after some new we got in the weekend. But I decided that the best thing to do was to get some fresh air and walk Starla. So I’m walking along and I’m always looking for rocks. Came across this batch of coins, randomly 🤔. First picture on the way there, second one on the way back. I really feel like this is a sign I’m following the path I’m supposed to be on ❤️💫. I put it aside to treat my friends to coffee when I get back

Today we volunteered for PFK and handed out lunches and drinks in a Spruce Grove parking lot. Starla really enjoyed Re-connecting with our unsheltered friends and some of them are pretty down at this time. Yesterday we ran into some friends around town and tears happened as they expressed how much they needed a visit with her ❤️💫. Our work advocating and supporting our vulnerable, unsheltered friends continues, with or without a building.
