The killings reached a new sad peak during the COVID 19 pandemic, when most countries around the world first entered a lockdown - many people decided to get a dog, as offices, schools and leisure facilities were closed. But as soon as everything started opening up again, these owners realized that they don’t actually have the time to care for a dog. The result was that many of these animals had to be euthanized, due to the lack of funding and capacity in the shelters.
Although this is a problem no one talks about, it exists.

The goal of „Behind The Grid“ is to push more people towards adopting dogs from shelters rather then buying them from breeders.
