For those who have been to Pack walks before, you know what to expect, but for those who have never been here are some pointers for you.
1. Remember a pack walk is more of piano lessons for dogs rather than a soft play.
2. No balls or sticks or toys.
3. Please give space to those around you, we are all there for a reason, some may be there to just socialise, others could be there because they have major problems with their dogs.
4. It can be a nervous experience turning up to a pack walk and you feel your dog is a nightmare... don't be embarrassed don't be ashamed, you are exactly who I want at the pack walk. Also if your dog is dog reactive please contact me first & I will come up with a plan to keep this a nonstressful experience! Also if your dog is muzzle trained please make sure it's on.
5. I will go around you all as we walk and discuss your individual needs and wants.
6. You may need more than a pack walk to help you with your issues, a one to one session could be just what you need.
7. Have fun, your dog is going to be better than you thought. Remember I'm there to help. Don't feel alone.
8. Try to get there a bit early to let your dog drain some energy and their bowels lol.
9.NO off leash dogs! No exceptions!
10. We aren't the only people that walk in these areas, be respectful of those not with us & be aware of your surroundings.
***IF YOUR DOG IS NOT FULLY VACCINATED I WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO JOIN! ITS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE! NO EXCEPTIONS!***
Hope that helps, now let's do this

Good evening everyone!
With the weather getting warmer (yay!!) I will be offering group training classes for puppies/adults. I am also considering having pack walks.

What is a Pack Walk? A group of dog owners go for a walk together in a structured environment. A pack walk is good for most dogs (if you're unsure if your dog is one of them, just ask me!) It's a great way to exercise, properly socialize, and train that is safe and fun for all.

Walks are inherently rewarding for the vast majority of dogs. Dogs love to smell their surroundings, encounter new things, and get some exercise. Most dogs also enjoy one another’s company.

Therefore, pack walks are naturally positively reinforcing. It is much easier to train dogs when a constant reward is available. Dogs learn not to pull on the leash, to keep up with the group, and generally to behave so that they get to keep walking.

Structured Socialization
Pack walks encourage dogs to walk along together without often interacting face-to-face. Over time, walking together builds trust. Walking together tends to avoid competition and insecurities that come with other kinds of socialization.

Dogs who frequently play together in free play, like at a dog park, may begin to show aggression overtime. However, dogs who are walked together in a pack rarely develop new problem behaviors.

This is because pack-walked dogs are consistently socialized in a structured way that doesn't allow for problematic exchanges. Even dogs who have done very poorly at a dog park can do great on a structured pack walk.

Advantages of Pack Walks
Good Activity for Dogs of Varying Sizes
It can sometimes be hard to find safe, fun ways to socialize dogs who are very different sizes. Two dogs in the same home may have very different experiences and rarely interact socially, which can result in problems.

Walking dogs that are different sizes together allows for safe, controlled interactions while also enabling dogs to enjoy activities and build a bond!

Every family dog needs a degree of training and exercise. Fitting both into your schedule can be a challenge, especially if you are limited in space.

Pack walks are a great way to give dogs good exercise and training at the same time. While dogs are walking and exploring, they are also learning to practice self-control, develop social intelligence, and listen to the leader. These skills will show themselves in a dog that is better behaved and more relaxed with less training.

Nutritional Joint Support Series - Elk Velvet Antler
🦌
This is one joint supportive addition you may or may not be familiar with but this natural supplement has been utilized medicinally with great success for over 2,000 years! This also happens to be my “if you only use one supplement, THIS should be it” recommendation. I absolutely love elk velvet antler for both proactive & therapeutic joint support for both dogs & cats.
Elk velvet antler supplement is made from 100% antlers in the natural young velvety stage of growth. Both lab and animal studies have shown that a protein found in antler velvet, pilose, has a powerful anti-inflammatory effect. Antler velvet is also a natural & rich source of glucosamine, chondroitin, hyaluronic acid & collagen! Because this is a natural composition it also contains vital vitamins & minerals in the correct proportions to be properly ensure these substances are utilized by the body most efficiently.
🧬Beyond the typical joint supportive components, velvet antler contains a range of IGF growth factors. Elk antlers grow at an astonishing 1 inch per day, the fastest mammalian regeneration rate! IGF growth factors are necessary for the restoration of normal body processes, strengthening tissue, and even strengthening of the immune system. All necessary in the maintaining & repairing of tissue/joints.
🦌This completely natural supplement is something I personally use with my pets in rotation for proactive reasons. Although my own pets don’t currently have any joint issues or arthritis I have included this supplement in many of my clients therapeutic diets that have active joint inflammation/ arthritis & have seen remarkable success with so many pets using elk velvet antler!
For me, this is absolutely one of
to support joint health!

🙋🏼‍♀️So, tell me have you used elk velvet antler?

Turkey hearts are loaded with a variety of nutrients and make a great addition to a raw diet. Despite being an organ, turkey hearts fall into the muscle meat category of a raw diet.

They contain high amounts of Vitamin B12, B6, riboflavin, thiamin, niacin, selenium and iron. These little hearts also contain fair amounts of zinc, phosphorus, magnesium and copper.

Turkeys, and other birds like ducks and chickens, have higher heartbeat rates than other animals such as dogs or cows. This higher rate of heart function means a higher concentration of taurine, an amino acid necessary for heart health.

Recent studies indicate there is a distinct correlation between how fast the heart beats and how much taurine will be concentrated in the heart tissue.

Just to compare, a turkey heart beats 298 - 309 beats/minute. A chicken is 250 - 300, a dog is 70 - 120, and a cow is 48 - 84 beats/minute. So feeding poultry hearts regularly, particularly wild or pasture raised poultry hearts, will ensure adequate taurine in the diet.

One other useful aspect of turkey hearts, and poultry hearts in general, is they make great pill pockets. You can slip your dog’s medication or supplement down into an open ventricle and your pooch is none the wiser.

Do you add turkey hearts into the rotation? Where do you source from?

Adopted Mack did some light reading today and learned all about our partnership with Canine Company : We Love Dogs] ! Locally based, Canine Company is known for their invisible fences but they also do training and have mobile spas. If you use our promo code, you’ll get a discount and we will get a donations.
🐾
The donation goes towards caring for our dogs like Mack before they get adopted. Bought at a puppy store, Mack’s family no longer wanted him when they were moving. He has skin issues from years of refused treatments, he is currently on a new diet, oral and topical medications. Mack, like many pet store dogs, is just riddled with health issues and then left when his owners could no longer afford him. Mack is now in his furever home, so the donations will be used to care for all his friends who need to get healthy and fixed up to find their own .
