“How much can a horse carry?

They can carry the weight of broken hearts, broken homes, and broken bodies. Countless tears sometimes comb their tangled manes. Moments when parents and friends cannot be there to help and hold a person, horses embrace and empower. They carry physical, mental, and emotional handicaps. They carry hopes and dreams; and they will carry the stress from your day when you can't carry it anymore.

They carry graduations, they carry new careers, they carry moves away from everything familiar, they carry marriages, they carry divorces, they carry funerals, they carry babys before they are born, and sometimes they carry the mothers who cannot carry their own baby. They carry mistakes, they carry joy, they carry the good and they carry the bad. They carry drugs and addictions, but they also carry the celebrations.

They will carry you to success when all you have felt is failure. They will carry you, never knowing the weight of your burdens and triumphs.

If you let them, they will carry you through life, and life is hard, life is heavy. But a horse will make you feel weightless under it all.”

I would like to introduce another one of the lovely horses we have here at Hooves For The Soul

This is Athena another one of the standardbred mare's we use for lessons, Athena is 15 years old, She is 15.2 hh roughly, she is used mostly as an instructor horse although occasionally she is used for the intermediate/experienced riders, we have had Athena since she was a 5 year-old and still racing then we retired her from racing when she was 6 as she just didnt want to do it, so she became a show pony. Athena is used for all types of lessons form bush rides to arena (flat work and jumping up to 60cm) to western (Barrel racing) as well as other game's.
Athena has been there done a lot of pony club's and events as well as Rodeo's if you see her out and about please come say hello her show name is {RC Split Milk}

I would like to introduce one of our lovely horses we have here at Hooves For The Soul.

This is Felix, Felix is Rennes personal horse that is used as an Instructors horse for arena lessons as well as trail rides. Felix is an Andalusian cross Thoroughbred, He is 9 years old, who stands at roughly 16hh. We have had Felix since he was 2 years old, Rennae broke him into the saddle and trained him 5 years ago, He is still in training as we haven't rushed him. Felix is currently competing in barrel racing at rodeos, soon will be starting to make appearances in the show world. So if you happen to be out and about at any rodeo events or horse shows (his competition name is Royal Ragnar) please don't be shy to come and say hi if you see him around.

Just a little bit of work from the two ponies we have here at Hooves For The Soul, the paint pony is Griffin (Royal Griffin) and the little chocolate brown is our little fatty bum Pheobe (Pain inthe Caver) these two little ones are great fun to play with and ride for the little ones 😉.
Thank you to Astrid one of the wonderful team members we have at Hooves For The Soul for helping the ponies grade the arena to help make it safer.

Sorry for not being very active life has been full on at the moment, I thought I would make a little Post on the benefits of equine therapy and a little bit more of an understanding of why we started Hooves For The Soul. There are so many young kids and adults struggling with life for so many different reasons this is just a little Post with some of the reasons and how Equine therapy helps.

Emotional Awareness: Being around horses helps with Anxiety and Depression, By recognizing and empathizing with the horse's feelings, individuals develop a heightened sense of empathy, which can be applied to their relationships with others. Understanding and sharing another person's emotions promotes deeper connections and enhances the overall quality of relationships.

Confidence: Riding horses can help through having a common focus, improving motivations and self-confidence, fostering positive emotions, in addition to the benefits of physical activity. Equine assisted therapy also involves trust, patience, and respect.

Social Skills: Equine Assisted Therapy supports children/adults in learning appropriate non-verbal and verbal communication, receiving and understanding positive and negative feedback with assertiveness, initiative, and engagement.

Trust and Empathy: Horses are also sensitive animals that immediately empathize with humans who take care of them. By reacting to body language and mirroring the moods of their handlers, horses make the perfect, nonjudgmental therapist by non-verbally providing insight into a person's negative behaviors.

Impulse Control: Equine Therapy can assist people who struggle with impulse control and emotional regulation. The need to communicate with a horse calmly promotes emotional awareness, emotion regulation, self-control, and impulse control.

Problem Solving Skills: Interacting with the horses encourages a person to be present and focused on the task at hand. Listening to our instruction and talking about your task helps improves a persons ability to follow directions, ask questions and problem solve.

This is just a little Post from the weekend Sofia had her first pony club rally I'm so proud of how she did considering it was the second time riding valley they worked really well together as a team. Sofia you should be proud of yourself you have come such a long way with the short term you have been with us.
We would like to thank Astrid for coming and strapping for us while we were teaching you are amazing and of course we would like to thank Darling Range pony club for having us we look forward to the next month.

I would like to introduce one of the beautiful clients we have here at Hooves for the soul, this young lady is also one of the riders competing at Boddington Rodeo this year.

I'm Lili and I've been riding with Rennae for 3 years now. I am 13 years old. I joined riding to learn the skill of cross country, however I am currently pursuing barrel racing. For almost 2 years now I have been riding a horse named Flossy. She is a 10 year old Appaloosa cross Friesian. Riding with Rennae has been a spectacular journey. She conducts her lessons in a chill and very fun way. You learn so much without the additional stress you gain from big riding chains. Rennae's mum Tammy is an amazing lady who has a great gift for taking care of and healing her horses. She loves teaching everyone how to take great care of the magnificent creatures. Hooves for the soul is an amazing and affordable option that every person considering taking up horse riding should consider.

So with Boddington Rodeo only around the corner being next weekend (4th of November) I thought I would do a post as this year we have a team of 4 horses and riders including myself it is very exiting I would like to say I am very proud of the riders we have got going to Boddington. I would also like to thank my mum Tammy for helping out with lessons as I have been busy with work I couldn't do everything I do with out your help.

To my three riders I just want to say how proud I am of you all this is a big step and I want you to be proud of the amount of work you have done leading up to this rodeo. Just remember we are all there for fun and to enjoy time with the ponies we are riding.

I would like to introduce myself, my name is Rennae i am the co-owner and instructor of Hooves for the soul. I have had horses my entire life as i have grown up in the racing and equestrian industry. I decided to start my own family run riding business to share my knowledge and riding skill with people of all ages, whether young or old. I have worked with all types of horses and every age group such as babies, yearlings to older horses, with all different kinds of temperaments. When i was younger I competed in a pony club I then started to get into mounted games such as barrel racing, keg racing, flag racing as well as pole bending etc. As of the last 5 years I have been competing in rodeos all across Western Australia. I am extremely excited about being able to share my knowledge and skills with anyone who is willing to learn or even sharpen the skills they already have. I look forward to hearing from you and meeting you all, from the team at Hooves for the soul.
