“How much can a horse carry?

They can carry the weight of broken hearts, broken homes, and broken bodies. Countless tears sometimes comb their tangled manes. Moments when parents and friends cannot be there to help and hold a person, horses embrace and empower. They carry physical, mental, and emotional handicaps. They carry hopes and dreams; and they will carry the stress from your day when you can't carry it anymore.

They carry graduations, they carry new careers, they carry moves away from everything familiar, they carry marriages, they carry divorces, they carry funerals, they carry babys before they are born, and sometimes they carry the mothers who cannot carry their own baby. They carry mistakes, they carry joy, they carry the good and they carry the bad. They carry drugs and addictions, but they also carry the celebrations.

They will carry you to success when all you have felt is failure. They will carry you, never knowing the weight of your burdens and triumphs.

If you let them, they will carry you through life, and life is hard, life is heavy. But a horse will make you feel weightless under it all.”

I would like to introduce one of our lovely horses we have here at Hooves For The Soul.

This is Felix, Felix is Rennes personal horse that is used as an Instructors horse for arena lessons as well as trail rides. Felix is an Andalusian cross Thoroughbred, He is 9 years old, who stands at roughly 16hh. We have had Felix since he was 2 years old, Rennae broke him into the saddle and trained him 5 years ago, He is still in training as we haven't rushed him. Felix is currently competing in barrel racing at rodeos, soon will be starting to make appearances in the show world. So if you happen to be out and about at any rodeo events or horse shows (his competition name is Royal Ragnar) please don't be shy to come and say hi if you see him around.

Just a little bit of work from the two ponies we have here at Hooves For The Soul, the paint pony is Griffin (Royal Griffin) and the little chocolate brown is our little fatty bum Pheobe (Pain inthe Caver) these two little ones are great fun to play with and ride for the little ones 😉.
Thank you to Astrid one of the wonderful team members we have at Hooves For The Soul for helping the ponies grade the arena to help make it safer.

Sorry for not being very active life has been full on at the moment, I thought I would make a little Post on the benefits of equine therapy and a little bit more of an understanding of why we started Hooves For The Soul. There are so many young kids and adults struggling with life for so many different reasons this is just a little Post with some of the reasons and how Equine therapy helps.

Emotional Awareness: Being around horses helps with Anxiety and Depression, By recognizing and empathizing with the horse's feelings, individuals develop a heightened sense of empathy, which can be applied to their relationships with others. Understanding and sharing another person's emotions promotes deeper connections and enhances the overall quality of relationships.

Confidence: Riding horses can help through having a common focus, improving motivations and self-confidence, fostering positive emotions, in addition to the benefits of physical activity. Equine assisted therapy also involves trust, patience, and respect.

Social Skills: Equine Assisted Therapy supports children/adults in learning appropriate non-verbal and verbal communication, receiving and understanding positive and negative feedback with assertiveness, initiative, and engagement.

Trust and Empathy: Horses are also sensitive animals that immediately empathize with humans who take care of them. By reacting to body language and mirroring the moods of their handlers, horses make the perfect, nonjudgmental therapist by non-verbally providing insight into a person's negative behaviors.

Impulse Control: Equine Therapy can assist people who struggle with impulse control and emotional regulation. The need to communicate with a horse calmly promotes emotional awareness, emotion regulation, self-control, and impulse control.

Problem Solving Skills: Interacting with the horses encourages a person to be present and focused on the task at hand. Listening to our instruction and talking about your task helps improves a persons ability to follow directions, ask questions and problem solve.

This is just a little Post from the weekend Sofia had her first pony club rally I'm so proud of how she did considering it was the second time riding valley they worked really well together as a team. Sofia you should be proud of yourself you have come such a long way with the short term you have been with us.
We would like to thank Astrid for coming and strapping for us while we were teaching you are amazing and of course we would like to thank Darling Range pony club for having us we look forward to the next month.
