Big step up for our little barn with no tractor! Grateful to friends and good local hay farmers. Hoping our herds love them as much as I do ๐

Everyone was out having fun in the surprise snow this morning ๐
I can't even explain how excited I am about the Hay Chix bags I bought the barn and knowing the horses can all have hay through the night ๐
Barn Cat Update: Blossom has traded her barn cat life for being a pampered house cat :)
A few months ago we made the decision to bring Blossom inside to try and control her allergies. Im happy to share she is adjusting very well to indoor cat life and is 'blossoming' every day ๐ธ
Buttercup & Wilma remain working cats at the barn and they are also doing well! Wilma is really the boss of the barn & Buttercup always brings us....gifts, of the mice & birds ( :( ) variety lol. At least they seem happy and grateful.
Special shout out to Hanover Community Cats for their great work on the TNR programs and giving friendlier ferals the chance to become working barn cats.
๐ the barn is getting bundled up for winter with a new garage door that can actually shut!!
Coming up on my third winter at this barn gets me a little nostalgic. Heres some photos I took when I first got here :) and a few newer shots at the end for reference. This little barn has really captured my heart ๐
The fog rolling in earlier was so pretty ๐

Got some solar lights installed today...lets see how long these last ๐
Richmond Area Friends: I am ISO old/gross/unwanted fleece blankets! We have a ton of very sharp and horrible sand burrs in our fields, and I can use the fleece to remove a good amount of them from our pastures and then BURN them ๐ฅ
Sharing for a friend, sweet pony gelding looking for his forever home currently staying at our barn. Message me if interested and I can connect you with his current owner.

For Fox Sake, "Comet" 12 year old, 12.2hh POA gelding looking for just the right home
Comet has got a few notable personality quirks that will require an owner that has previous pony handling experience; he can be a bit "ADHD," and can become buddy sour if only out with 1 or 2 other horses. Comet cannot go out with mares as he will mount, and also has front shoes as a comfort measure due to OA in his front right - because of this he is in early retirement but does have riding training. Comet IS NOT a kids pony!! He is not good with smaller children or smaller animals. He must go out with other geldings that can keep him in his place, as he will bully any horse lower in the ranks than him. He's on daily Equioxx as well as a few other supplements and does have a history of choke that is being managed with his current feeding set up.

๐ด๐ก๐ Clear the Farm Event - Find Loving Homes for 20 Adorable Horses! ๐๐ก๐ด
Hey, horse lovers of Virginia! ๐พ๐ Are you ready for an exciting event? Central Virginia Horse Rescue is thrilled to announce our "Clear the Farm" adoption drive taking place throughout the month of August! ๐
We currently have 20 amazing and adoptable horses who are eagerly waiting to find their forever homes. These beautiful equines have unique personalities, and they can't wait to shower you with love and loyalty. By giving them a loving home, you'll not only change their lives but also create space for us to help more horses in need! ๐พโค๏ธ
Here's how you can be a part of this life-changing event:
๐ Step 1: Visit our website (www.centralvahorserescue.org/adopt/adoptable-horses/) to explore the profiles of the horses available for adoption. Learn about their individual stories and see which one tugs at your heartstrings.
๐ Step 2: Share this post and spread the word! Let your friends, family, and fellow horse enthusiasts know about the Clear the Farm event. Together, we can reach more potential adopters and find loving homes for these deserving horses.
๐ Step 3: Adopt! If you're ready to open your heart and home to a new four-legged friend, fill out our adoption application on the website ].
๐ Step 4: Help us reach our goal! If you can't adopt right now, you can still support us by making a donation. Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference in the lives of these rescue horses.
Remember, adopting a horse means you're gaining an incredibly loyal companion and saving a life. ๐๐ Let's work together to find these 20 horses their forever homes and make room for more horses in need of our help!
Thank you for being a part of the Central Virginia Horse Rescue family. Together, we can make a world of difference for these majestic creatures. ๐โค๏ธ
