Meet Solomon – Your Future Best Friend!

Hi, I’m Solomon! I’m around six years old and have been patiently waiting for my perfect forever home for over a year. I may have some specific needs, but I promise that if you’re the right match, I’ll fill your life with love, snuggles, and plenty of joy!

Why I’m Amazing:

❤️ Champion Snuggler – I love to sleep with my head on my human’s lap, chest, or wherever I can be closest.

🏊 Great Swimmer – I can make a splash with the best of them!

🎾 Playtime Enthusiast – I love chasing balls and playing with my favorite toys.

🚗 Adventure Buddy – Car rides are one of my favorite things!

🚶‍♂️ Walking Companion – Going for walks makes me so happy.

🐾 Smart & Well-Mannered – I’m house-trained and know basic commands.

🤗 Professional Hugger – I give hugs on command!

What I Need in a Forever Home:

✔ Adult-Only Home – Kids make me anxious, so I need a calm, child-free environment.

✔ Someone Who’s Home Often – I have separation anxiety, and when left alone too long, I tend to get a little… creative (RIP to my foster parents’ curtains).

✔ A Doggie Companion – A low- to medium-energy, non-alpha canine sibling helps me feel more at ease when my human isn’t home.

✔ Daily Medication – I take anxiety medication, and it has made a world of difference in helping me feel relaxed and comfortable.

✔ Local Adopters Only – My ideal home is within 30–40 minutes of Palm Beach Gardens so we can take time to get to know each other through multiple visits before adoption.

Interesting Fact About Me:

Before I came to Lab Rescue, I had a bad injury to one of my front toes. The vet decided the best option was to remove it, but don’t worry—it hasn’t slowed me down at all! I still outrun my foster siblings to the ball every time.

I’m currently living with my foster family and their two Labrador Retrievers in Palm Beach Gardens, but I can’t wait to find my forever family! If you meet ALL of my needs and think we’d be a perfect match, reach out to your adoption counselor to learn more about me.

I may need a little extra care, but I promise—I’ll love you with my whole heart!

Meet THOR

Since you’re reading this, you’re obviously looking for a new best friend—and, hey, so am I! I don’t care how old you are or what you look like, but in case those things matter to you, I’m approximately 3 years old, weigh 95 pounds and that’s me in the picture with the silver coat. My perfect match would be someone who would love to teach me to play fetch, work on my leash manners (I am very strong) and cuddle on the couch. I am completely devoted to those I love. When I’m not admiring your every move, I’d love to be playing with other dogs. So, what do you say? Wanna be besties? A 6 foot fence is a must, no small animals and I have lived with children.I am being fostered in Pompano Beach .To apply visit lrrof.org

We are heartbroken to share that Beethoven has crossed the rainbow bridge 🌈. He was’t himself and became more lethargic throughout the day. Once at the vet, tests revealed cancer had taken over his body. We did the kind and gentle thing and sent sweet Beethoven to be with his Mom, Vivienne. Thank you to his amazing foster family that held his paw through everything. Run free and reat easy sweet Beethoven ❤️‍🩹🌈

The Miami shelter is experiencing a high incidence of 'Kennel Cough' - this is often referred to as dog flu. We are looking for a few foster families, without other dogs, that can act as a 1-2 week stay over on their way to a permanent foster family. Please click to apply if you are able to help us help Labradors until this 'flu' situation passes. Fostering saves lives!

Beethoven's mom passed away last week after a courageous battle with cancer. Beethoven has come back into LRRoF so we can find him a new forever home. Beethoven's fur brother and sister have gone to new homes too. This gentle giant is 9 years old, has lived with other dogs and will follow you around to make sure no lovin is missed. Cats unknown. During the last few months Beethoven has put on some weight so he does need to trim down a bit. Scamp is a year and half old "pocket lab". He's a lab mix and is full grown at 30 lbs. He loves to play and is very affection. He's a little timid around men when first meeting them due to his previous experiences. He's house trained and comfortable in a kennel. Scamp had a horrid start to life, let's show him how great it is to be part of the lrrof family - sharing is caring.

Scamp is being fostered in Miami, to apply to adopt please visit lrrof.org

For 25 years, Labrador Retriever of Florida has transformed the lives of over 12,000 dogs, all while relying on the dedication and selflessness of volunteers. This organization’s milestone anniversary marks more than just the passage of time; it’s a testament to the power of community and compassion.

Our team of volunteers serve in many roles, and without their tireless efforts, none of this would be possible. They are often the unseen heroes, giving their time, energy, and resources to ensure that dogs receive the care they need and that the organization’s mission continues. Many of these dogs come from heartbreaking situations, having been abandoned or neglected, but with the love and care provided by their foster families, they find new beginnings.

As the organization celebrates this incredible milestone, it’s important to recognize the ripple effect of its work. Every dog saved is a life altered, and every family that opens their heart to foster or adopt a rescued dog helps to further the mission of kindness and compassion. The success stories are endless, from a shy, scared dog learning to trust again to a once-injured pup regaining its strength and spirit, and this year, we will bring you stories of those successes and the volunteers who make it all possible.

To the volunteers, fosters, adopters, and supporters—here’s to 25 years of making a difference, one paw at a time.

Beau and Duke, a pair of handsome chocolate brothers, always turned heads with their shiny coats and playful antics. They had a home where they were cherished, but life has a way of shifting course. When their family faced unexpected changes in work and family obligations, they made the heartbreaking decision to surrender the boys to LRROF, hoping they’d find the love they deserved.
Enter Diana and Andrew—seasoned Lab lovers with hearts as big as their home. Having recently said goodbye to their beloved 14-year-old dog, also named Duke, their house felt a little too quiet. They knew they were ready to fill it with the pitter-patter of paws again. They had fostered for LRROF before, but this time, they had their hearts set on something special—a bonded pair of male Labs.
Fate works in wonderful ways. With foster homes scarce before the holidays, Beau and Duke needed a place to land. When Diana and Andrew opened their doors to the brothers, it didn’t take long for everyone to realize—this was more than a foster situation. This was forever family.
The boys settled in as though they had always belonged, filling the home with laughter, tail wags, and the joyful chaos that only Labs can bring. It was no surprise when Diana and Andrew made it official: Beau and Duke weren’t going anywhere.
“They’ve stolen our hearts,” the couple says with a smile, their house—and their hearts—full once again.

Love Your Lab Week .....
Love, Resilience, and a Lola's Second Chance

Hi, I’m Lola. My journey started in North Carolina, where I lived a pretty simple life. But in 2016, everything changed when my family took me on vacation to South Florida. It was my first time traveling, my first time meeting other dogs, and my first time being around tiny humans. It was… a lot.

Overwhelmed and unsure of how to handle all the newness, I reacted the only way I knew how—by getting into a scuffle with the resident dog. Instead of helping me adjust, my family decided I was “too much” and took me to a vet to be euthanized. Just like that, my life was supposed to end.

But fate had other plans. The kindhearted staff at the clinic saw something in me and reached out to Lab Rescue. They saw beyond my fear and gave me a second chance.

I spent some time at camp, learning and waiting. Then one day, she walked in—my person. We sat together, just the two of us, and in that moment, we made a silent promise: We’re in this together. Ride or die.

That was eight years ago. Since then, we’ve built a life filled with love, adventure, and second chances. We garden, we camp, and we savor the simple joy of just being together.

I wasn’t broken. I just needed to be understood. And because someone gave me that chance, I get to live the life every Lab dreams of—one filled with unconditional love.

We are kicking off the 2025 Love Your Lab Week with a Lucy's story.

Lucy, a gentle young black Labrador with soulful eyes that had seen more struggle than any dog should, finally understood what it meant to belong.

Her journey began with uncertainty. Rescued by Labrador Rescue of Florida, Lucy carried the weight of past challenges—medical challenges that had tested her spirit and tried the patience of previous families. Lucy struggled with a double ectopic ureter, which means her bladder was not connected properly causing her to leak urine and have constant infections. Lrrof was able to give her the surgery needed with no
Guarantees for a second chance. Surgery cost about 7k and was possible by generous donors and vets that offer us discounts to our rescued labs in need.

Ilana, a devoted foster, also a nurse spent endless hours of dedication caring for Lucy, driving to many vet appointments, and cleaning up after her for several months. Preparing Lucy for her surgery and recovery. Ilana’s contributions were a crucial part of Lucy’s healing and rehabilitation before and after surgery. Equipping Lucy to be set up for success in the future.

Mark, a past adopter came across a photo of Lucy on Lab Rescue’s page. Although typically gravitating towards Senior’s, this young female caught his eye. Mark was made aware of Lucy’s medical challenges beforehand, which did not shy him away from her.

The first month with Lucy were a challenge for Mark navigating the challenges with her bladder that were still in the process of restoring. Many accidents and waterproof blankets later, Lucy has had very few accidents since.

Fast forward to today, Lucy is living her best life on a two and a half acre homestead in Naples, Fl where she has the freedom to do all the running she wants and fulfilling her desires to be a professional squirrel chaser!

Mark has been diligent in taking care of Lucy. He has helped her achieve her goal weight and makes all of her food. Lucy is nothing short of a remarkable dog, intelligent, loyal, quirky, and most of all an incredible companion.

Labrador Rescue of Florida has done more than find Lucy a forever home. They had reconnected a broken spirit with love, proving that every dog, no matter their history, deserves a chance at happiness.

Lucy has a new found love for traveling enjoying the new experiences that come along with it. She will tag along with Mark and Luna this summer as they head up north to Cape Cod.

Update - adopted

Meet Scott !

I’m the perfect companion for someone who likes to get some exercise, but also likes to chill. I’m up for anything. I’m a sporty and playful young boy (about a year old) who loves running around and being part of a pack with my foster siblings. But I also like to spend time independently sitting outside and calmly watching the world around me.

I was turned into the shelter because “the landlord didn’t allow big dogs.” But I suspect that my previous owners didn’t have much time for me either. While I was fully potty trained and decent on a leash when I arrived at my foster home, I needed to learn some of the basics, like sit and that jumping and play mouthing isn’t ok. My foster family worked on that and I’m learning so fast! I’m getting great at minding my manners and listening like the good boy that I am.

At my foster home, I love playing and roughhousing with one of the resident doggies, a Lab girl who is young and active like me. And I quickly learned to let the 10-year-old golden girl in the house have her space. I’m not a huge fan of my kennel, but I’ll go in for a treat. My absolute favorite place to be is cuddling in bed with my foster sibling doggies and parents. I sleep so soundly and love it more than anything.

I think I’d be great for a family with older kids or an adult just looking for a loyal companion and active playmate. I want to keep learning. If you’ll spend time reinforcing what I’ve learned, teach me some new skills and toss a ball or frisbee regularly, we’ll get along great! I am fostered in Boynton Beach. Alproved adopters please reach out to your counselor. To apply visit lrrof.org
