🐶The Mannered Mutt Puppy/ Dog Basic Obedience Classes & Outing Dog Class Details:

*All classes have 3 dogs per class which makes for more one on one attention with each student.
*All classes are taught using positive reinforcement meaning we will reward our dogs with what they find rewarding to increase desired behaviors. (Be ready to feed lots of treats, play with toys, and praise them!)
*Classes held in Ellington unless we go on a field trip!

🐕Basic Obedience Start Date: August 27th
Times: 10:15-11:15 FULL
* We will introduce engagement games, sits, downs, stays, loose leash walking, coming when called, polite greetings and more!
* 8 1-hour classes included in the cost
Cost: $230 + tax

🐕Outing Dog Class Start Date: September 3rd
Time: 11:30-12:30 (FULL)
*Requires a basic obedience course prior with me or elsewhere. This level is geared towards building upon the skills your dogs already have and molding some pups who can join us on our brewery nights, coffee runs, farmer market days, and so on!
* 6 1-hour classes included in cost
* 3-4 weeks in Ellington & 2-3 Off-Site Trainings
*We will mostly focus on polite greetings, focusing on handlers around distractions, settling at our feet with distractions present, and loose leash walking with distractions present.
Cost: $170 + tax

Meet Jellybean - she’s been returned to the shelter 3 times now due to her energy and lack of training for the most part. Jelly is 3 years old and has been at for a large portion of the last 3 months.

I went to work with her a bit the other day at the kennel and she seemed to be picking up on everything super quickly! We made some great progress in session #1 on her name response, sits, downs, and loose leash walking while outside of the kennel with MANY other distractions present.

Sophie & Gwen were just two of the 10 dogs to graduate from The Mannered Mutt classes recently! They still have some things to polish up on but were by far the most easy going about wearing their graduations caps!

Took Mr. Tuukka to his parents wedding yesterday! He did a wonderful job! If you or someone you know needs a doggy wedding chauffeur have them reach out. I’ve done weddings where the dog and I come just for wedding and photos as well as yesterday where we hang out the whole time. It’s all up to the bride & groom.

Update:
I am taking a step back from dog sitting currently. Between all that I have lined up for pet sitting, bringing home my own puppy, and training dogs - I believe I have more than enough on my plate for the summer at least. If you reach out looking for someone I will gladly refer you else where for the time being! If you are already booked with me your safe! 🥰

Well, they graduated. It’s always so bitter sweet - happy to see how much they’ve learned but wish I could fail them all to make them stay.

Enjoy some photos from graduation! I don’t have a photo of Honey yet but she came through my training class twice! I told her at the end of her first class to go home and misbehave just enough so she could come back. She listened well and I only hope these students do the same. 😂❤️

Meet Denali! Over the course of my two days pet sitting her, we did 2- 10 minute training sessions on ‘middle’ position. We went from a lure, to a signal, to a verbal within the two sessions.

Why teach a middle?

Picture yourself at a local farmers market trying to buy something from a vendor. Your puppy is going each and every way, trying to greet everyone passing, and possibly making poor decisions. ‘Middle’ would be a great place to ask your dog to hang out when in those busy situations! It’s also a skill that anxious dogs might find comfort in during high stress situations, can help with vet exams, and more!

Welcome to The Mannered Mutt Dog Training page! I’ve been a bit busy lately, so it’s taken a bit for me to get this page up and running. I’ve been a dog trainer for a couple years now but within this past year I’ve started my own business on top of it! For those who I grew up with and are just finding out about my career path, I’m sure this is no surprise to you at all! This page will center around my dog training and pet sitting services - I hope you find it useful!
