Why boots are important in the winter

Boots give added grip and traction to prevent slips and falls. They are also incredibly helpful to prevent injuries, like cuts and burns, when walking on salt or chemical de-icers. Rock salt has the chance to cut open your dogs paw pads which can be quite painful for them. Chemical de-icer can cause chemical burns to their paw pads which is also painful for them. Not to mention how expensive the vet bill can be!

What should you look for in a dog boot for the winter?
Boots with a textured rubber sole are great for preventing slips and falls. Boots that are breathable are also great if you plan on using the same boot in the summer along with the winter so that your dog doesn’t overheat. Also take into consideration if your dog has dew claws and where they are located. Some boots can rub on the dew claw and cause irritation if they don’t fit properly.

My preferred brands:
One of my favorite brands for medium and large breed dog boots is Ruffwear. From my own experience, they fit quite well and don’t rub on the dew claw for my dog. For smaller dogs, it can be quite difficult to find appropriate fitting boots. I have found that WagWear WagWellies have a great size range and even fit my 6lbs chihuahua mix!
Finding the right boot for your dog can be challenging and is very much trial and error. But once you have found the perfect boot for your pup, the benefits of them outweigh the challenge of finding them.

Hope you guys found this informational!

Hi everyone, remember Morty? Well I have an update on him!
Long story short, he’s staying with me and will live out the rest of his life learning to love life and enjoy new adventures! He’s shown such amazing progress that we decided as a family, that he will be staying. So stay tuned for all of his updates! Oh and he is now being called Weston! He’s doing great at adjusting. It’s been about 5 and a half weeks of him living with me and he keeps showing improvement day by day!

I’m also still accepting new clients so if you or someone you know needs help training their dog, you can always contact me!
Hope everyone has a great rest of their day!

Hi everyone! I wanted to give an update on this sweet boy, Morty! He’s doing phenomenal adjusting in my house with a consistent training schedule and learning how to be more confident and comfortable in different situations. He’s currently learning that the crate doesn’t mean I won’t come back but that he has to stay in it for short periods of time and that someone will ALWAYS come back to get him. The crate can be a harder concept for dogs to learn in the sense that they don’t perceive time the way us humans do. So it’s very important to train them and to show them that someone will always be there to release them from the crate. Another thing is he is doing well and actually seems to really enjoy playing with other dogs. He’s so far been introduced to a 6lbs chihuahua mix and a 35 lbs mix breed. He LOVES playing with the 35lbs dog. He is sometimes a bit too much for my 6lbs chihuahua mix but he’s good at respecting her when someone tells him to. He’s a bit wary of men but it’s nothing that can’t be worked through. He’s just very unsure of them and sometimes let’s out a small woof and is a bit more nervous around them. Although he is unsure of men, it can be worked through with consistent training and proper socialization around men. He takes a bit to warm up to everyone but once he does, he’s a very loving boy.
Anyway, that’s all for this update. Stay tuned for more updates on the boy🐾

Hi everyone! Meet Morty. He is shepherd mixed with most likely mountain curr but not entirely sure on his exact breed mix. He is a medium sized dog and is looking for a home. Very nervous and timid but doesn’t act aggressively towards humans and other dogs. Unsure of living with cats. Would be best in a single dog/pet household for the time being and with kids aged 13+. He’s a sweet boy who’s just very scared of everything and will need lots of time to adjust and will need training. He will need someone who understands him and will take the time for training and to build trust. I’m offering a discount on training for the household he goes into. He is staying with me for the week for training, to learn what household he will be best for and to see his personality come through.
