Pups with a purpose: bringing fulfillment to the modern housedog

Originally, dogs were selectively bred to assist humans in various tasks - tasks that required such traits as the strength and stamina to pull weight for several miles, extreme agility and intense focus to move livestock, and the ability to think independently while trailing game. As human society evolved, our uses for dogs changed. Though today’s pets do not fill the same roles as their ancestors, many factors remain the same - their instinctive drives, their need for exercise and mental stimulation, and their desire to work alongside humans.

The majority of today’s pet dogs are jobless, living in our homes alongside our families as beloved companions. This human-animal relationship, though beloved, is often fraught with problems - how often do owners bemoan their “bad” dogs, “stubborn” dogs, or “dumb” dogs? At the root of these frustrations is insufficient understanding of dog behavior and a lack of communication between humans and animals. Dogma seeks to help owners better understand their dog’s physical and mental needs, address common training errors and myths about dog behavior, and teach them communication skills that will allow them to forge a rewarding bond with man’s best friend.
