Got these two wild ones a couple days ago, just got them out of the round pen with halters...the bay, Bronca, will be a nice horse around 14hh and the sorrel with the white front leg, Windy, will make a nice driving or kids horse...not sure if she is quite 14hh or not...might be a little under!!

RUM day 41: Ride number 14. He really loves the water! We had a few spooking episodes but overall did ok considering the weather and not doing much groundwork before getting on.

Smoke Update: This little guy has become FUN!! I've been riding him six days a week and he already has a very good handle!! He will stop, turn, back up, open gates, cruise, (maintain gait) and is becoming softer on the bit every day!! Time and effort sure does pay off!!❤

RUM Day 33: 6th ride on this cutie. I'm becoming more confident on him. As you can see he is always looking for that stop!

Smoke Day 46: Today we hit a rough patch and I didnt get it on video lol. There was a lot of action in the arena and I didn't do enough groundwork before I started riding...he was just really fast, I want him to be slower and thinking rather than racing around the arena...I was also doing some new things so that got him more "up" also but hes gotta get used to action and being around people and other horses and concentrating on what I want him to do with all that going on....we will work on it more tomorrow at Sadie's house!!👏

This picture was at the end of our ride, I was going to get fly spray from my apartment and he wanted to come in with me🤦‍♀️

18/06/2021

RUM Day 29: I forgot to video first ride but here is the second ride. He was a lot slower and calmer today. Might be a little lazier than I expected but it was hotter today when i rode him too. I think he will be a fun little pony!

11/06/2021

Smoke Day 38: eighth ride! I'm working on cruising here, I want him to maintain loping until I ask for something else. This will help him want to do a nice slow lope (that I love) and listen to me as his rider. I love this exercise because it gets him thinking and not reacting...as you can see at the end of the video, I ask him to stop and he is definitely looking for it!!! I love how he just stopped off of a mere suggestion. After all, they say a tired horse is a good horse!!!

RUM day 24 (i think??): First saddling. He was a little scared of it when i brought it out but over all he did wonderful! Didn't buck or act like it was even on him. Love this little guy!!

Smoke Day 34: 4th ride, and first ride outside of the round pen. It went very well, we walked, trotted, and loped both directions, he sure likes his right lead better than his left!!

D & B Horse Training Sisters

Lead Trainers DeAnn Schmidt (age 25) and Becky Koehn (age 21) have a natural talent and love for horses. As a child, DeAnn was first exposed to Clinton Anderson’s methods of training and was hooked. DeAnn started to take her own natural gifts and instincts to start training young horses in Kansas. Her sister Becky followed that same path. The sisters focus on shaping a solid and strong foundation for each horse. Their amazing groundwork translates into a nice soft horse in the saddle. Moving down to New Mexico to follow their passions and dreams of training horses, the sisters have a property in which they are ready to help you have a great, solid partner both on the ground and in the saddle.
