I’m definitely in denial that today was Sam & Meg’s last day of dog camp 😭
Accepting were life can take you instead of sticking to a plan can bring you so much joy ✨
Do you ever wonder if on another planet the dogs were in charge, and we were the pets? 🤔 No? Just me?
Just 14 dogs with off leash recall AND off leash reliability 🤌🏼
I always wonder if dogs think I’m kidnapping them on their first day of dog camp 🤔
✨Today marks 3 years of Peck’s Adventure Pack! ✨I punch myself often thinking about how each day I get to hang out with these amazing dogs. I started my business just before the pandemic in 2020, and I had no idea if I would be successful. Was I scared? 100%! Did I struggle? YeahDid I make the right decision changing careers?Absolutely!I get to live each day not only bettering the lives of my packs, but giving my dogs the best life possible ❤️ So if you are a client of mine, thank you! Thank you for trusting with me with your amazing dogs, and allowing me to live my dream. If you are a training client, thank you for seeing the value in training dogs and appreciating what I have to offer. To the other trainers who have helped me along the way (@mydogcamp @rhondezvouswithdogs @buddysbuddiesvt @vt_dogtreks @righttrackdogpack @adogstrail.vt @evergreendogsvt and many more) thank you for your guidance, support and friendships ❤️ And if you’re only a follower, thank you for tagging along for the ride!I’m so excited for what’s to come this year 🐶
Here comes the Monday Pack 🐶Killing it with their off leash skills today- we saw cross country skiers, an off leash dog, and the trail groomer. Today these guys continued to show me the importance of practicing their off leash skills (recall, neutrality, reliability) because with all these distractions things could easily get out of hand. Instead we had an incredible morning and were able to practice these skills with great success ⭐️
Sometimes I can’t believe this is what I get to do every day 🐾✨
Sweet Little Valentine’s ❤️
New album drop spring 2023 titled “Smells Like Wet Dog” 🐶
This is not a hobby. This is not a side project. This is how I make a living. I put countless hours of training in with the dogs. I do all my marketing and social media to promote my business.I participate in workshops & seminars to expand my knowledge of training. I’m currently taking a year long master course for dog training to better help my clients, their dogs, and my dogs.Just because it looks fun to hang out with 12 dogs all day instead of your typical office job does not mean this isn’t work. It’s actually a lot of work 🐶
Why am I posting this reminder about when to let your dog off leash? Because a few days ago I saw a dog almost get hit by a car at a trail head, and when the owner did nothing I almost hit it too. She was able to grab the dogs collar just before it ran out in front of me, and to my shock instead of leashing the dog, she immediately let the dog go as soon as I passed by! 🤯 The irresponsibility and lack of consideration when it comes to people letting their untrained dogs off leash is astounding. Not only does it put your dog and yourself at risk, but other people, dogs and animals as well. If I had a dollar for the number of times I’ve heard people yell “he’s friendly!” I would own a house by now. And people have no idea how that will adversely effect another dog that may be reactive, or aggressive, or nervous, or even friendly. Because news flash, a friendly dog does not mean a well trained dog, and when put in stressful situations even friendly dogs can start fights. When you take your dog off leash they should have excellent recall (around other people, dogs, and wildlife) and they should have good off leash reliability (making good decisions off leash without instruction). You’re dog being friendly doesn’t mean sh*t if you can’t call them away from my dog, my car, or a coyote; because in the end what it really boils down to is safety. So please before you let your dog off leash, think to yourself “can my dog be successful and safe in the situation I’m about to put it in?” If not, keep your dog on leash until you’ve done the training! 🤌🏻
