Awesome Wednesday morning class!
I have to give a shout out to “Pickle” the cockapoo.
When she first attended my class she was quite an intense little dog.
She had developed a habit of spinning alllll the time and her lovely owners were at a loss on how to help her.
Over the past few weeks Pickle has actually become one of the most competent detection dogs in my classes and it’s bloody lovely to see!
She’s grown in confidence so much, she’s a happier dog, her genetic needs are being met (she may look like a little teddy bear but she’s still a mix of 2 working breeds)
I’m incredibly proud of her and her owners!! 🖤

Poppy’s owners got in touch because she’s struggling around people, it makes her really anxious and she gobs off at them quite a bit. She does this indoors, in shops and in the street.
This makes people back away so in Poppy’s head what she’s doing is working so she’ll keep rehearsing this behaviour unless we help her learn that it’s not necessary.
We worked on a few things to give Poppy more clarity on what behaviour is and isn’t acceptable when people visit.
We’re also working on fun stuff with her to build her confidence.
She made really good progress today…looking forward to her next session.

So we’ve been working in different environments, gradually increasing the level of distraction.
Tonight we headed to the skate park which was pretty busy, other dogs around, a train, cars, kids screaming 🤣 and we got little Ozzy out too.
