BIO: Vesper has all the right moves. He is equal parts squiggly and snuggly.

He would likely make a very nice brother to a canine sibling as he had a great time running around. Plus, he's all things adorable from his little white nose to the white tip on his tail. He is a bit underweight right now, but will be even more handsome once he fills out a bit. Vesper is a perfect gentleman and would make a great forever friend. Won't you come meet him?

This is Suzanne Warren who is ridiculously adorable and dare I say photogenic too. If you could see her body, you would realize how thin she is. Due to malnutrition, her fur is in terrible condition, falling out of her body in chunks. Poor thing needs some serious TLC!

Alanna captured my heart today. She was clearly someone’s baby who was dumped at the shelter. She is potty trained and wants nothing more than love and a long walk. She’s going to need a good bath and some brushing, but she would be a great family member to someone out there

Alisa's Tips on Adopting a Dog:

1) Don't judge a dog by its breed (or looks)

2) Keep your search broad - Visit multiple shelters, search online, go to adoption events, talk to fosters, adoptions specialists, or volunteers and ask for recommendations. You might be glossing over great dogs because they don't jump out on paper.

3) Don't default to puppy - Dogs aren't fully mature for 2-3 years. That's a long time to deal with puppy behavior.

4) Visit multiple times - Before you make a final decision, visit the dog multiple times if possible. Talk to those who have interacted with the dog to get a good sense of his/her personality.

5) Be patient - the right one is out there, sometimes it takes a little time to make that perfect connection.

This is Caramelo. Don't be confused...it should be Caramela. She is gorgeous, silly, sweet, loving. She was great with a dog in the next run over, wanting nothing more than to play and run. She loved Sophia with all she had. I would take her home in a hearbeat.

Every time we go to the shelter, we meet dogs that we love. I'd be lying if I said that it was easy to leave each day, but the Momma dogs always get me. I don't know why, but I can tell you from years of fostering and now visiting the shelter that I always recommend people look to adopt a Momma dog. It's the closest clue I've found to ensuring that you get a sweet, loving companion. On that note, our first few dogs we post will be Momma dogs.

Sophia and I have started volunteering for DeKalb County Animal Shelter to walk dogs and take pictures to help get them adopted. So far, the dogs that we have met have been amazing. Each one we've wanted to take home with us. Since we can't do that, we are going to be trying to find them loving homes by posting about them here.
