Upside down muffin tin with fleece braids

Over time I have collected quite a few fleece ropes / braids. Now we don't use them anymore, my dogs do not like tugging that much. So it is time use them in a different way.
In combination with an inverted muffin tin (also different than usual), a nice variation was created.

Roadmap:
1) Start getting acquainted first: place the muffin tin and the fleece braids on the floor or hold them in your hand and let your dog (if he wants to) sniff and watch first.
2) If he / she is interested, you can place a fleece braid loosely on the muffin tin. Place some treats on and in between the upright boxes
3) You can now place the fleece braid a little more between the upright boxes and also put some treats on it
4) Now some treats can be placed half under the fleece braid
5) Now add another fleece braid and build up in this way until you have filled every gap. Braids can also be placed on the boxes so that you have even more hiding places.

Enrichment should enhance your dogs life.

I see many posts on Facebook where dogs are frantically scratching at puzzle toys or frantically getting food from a slow feeder or treat ball.

Its important to remember that success, calmness and confidence building are all key elements to successful enrichment.

Enrichment when implemented correctly has so many benefits.

Choices, confidence building, and adaption to name just a few.

However, if implemented incorrectly, we can increase arousal levels and frustration which is then having the opposite desired outcomes.

A great way of capturing this is to sit back and record your dogs sessions. You can often see so much when you watch it back 🥰

My dogs have worked up to being able to search for over 45 minutes.

They also can search together with no competition between them.

These slow, sensory walks are so tiring for them, in a good way 🥰
