More on Allergies! Last time I mentioned feeding a quality food. Now let's move to Seasonal Allergies. Every pet is different and when their "season" is may be completely different from other pets in the house. It could be any month of the year based on that pets body and the allergens around them.
Symptoms include itching, scratching, chewing, and redness of the ears, abdomen or between the pads of the feet. This inflammation causes the protective layer of the skin to be abnormal and bacteria/yeast that is everywhere in the environment or on their body could get into that skin and cause infection.
We now know that HISTAMINE is not part of the allergic skin disease in dogs. Therefore, ANTI-HISTAMINES do not affect or stop the allergic reaction in pets. They only cause sedation.
Symptoms could be progressing for weeks or months before you realize your pet is having issues, and then the infections can get really bad almost over night. If you notice any signs of ITCHING, SCRATCHING, CHEWING etc., please have your pet examined by their doctor as the longer the disease progresses, the longer it will take to get your pet back to a normal healthy state.
