⚠️Warning Controversial Topic

Many cat (and even human) behaviors are adapted and modified based on surrounding environment! Cats are only semi-domesticated animal, but the beautiful thing is that we change our behaviors to embrace them as our companions!

The name UrbanKitty suggests it all! With our busy urbanized lives, we do a small compromise, to ensure the best living conditions for our cats and us! Not forgetting to mention, that training our cats helps to build trust, bonds and relationships in the long run.

For those who have tried training your cat! Doesn't matter if you are using our kit or not, the same rules applies!

Try looking back, and finding out the reason that caused their sudden change in behavior. Most common reason, is that your cat feels insecure that their scent is still lingering in your toilet. As such, we will suggest flushing your cat's excretion as soon as they use the toilet.💦

⛔ Another common reason, may be your cat was denied access to the toilet once and did it elsewhere (or the training kit was not at the right place). We know that some cats really do hold grudges HAHA! To counter this, simply make sure that your toilet door is always open, and the training kit is on the toilet bowl.

Mmmm... We do not want to sugarcoat anything, but things will get messy (especially the first few days). Just remember to prepare a broom to sweep up the litter on the floor, and a pair of bathroom slippers so you do not get it all over your house! 🧹

🧻After the initial transition, it will just be an extra step of removing the kit, and letting down the toilet seat!

It will just be for a short period of 5-7 weeks, in exchange for a lifetime of clearing litter boxes. You choose!

Confused on how to train your cat systematically?

📚Preparation - First step, is to mentally and physically prepare your cat for a change in location and type of litter. Slowly transition your cat to use flush-able litter, and to get used to the toilet environment.

📈Progression - Then comes the exciting part of leading them on top of the toilet bowl and the training kit. Remove the inner rings, according to your cat's progress until your cat is comfortable with your existing toilet seat!

⏪Regression - This step is slightly special, for some cats that have a sudden change in behavior and decide to do their business elsewhere! We will have to figure out what went wrong, and go back to the previous training ring. But not to worry, as this means a step closer to success!

🍬Reinforcement - One of the most important step that most fur-parent neglects! You've already spent so much effort training your cat, so just a little more effort to affirm them when they have done the correct behavior even after they are well-trained!

Training your pet is never easy, but the keyword is PATIENCE! These is an example of what we call progress - slowly but surely. 😮‍💨

We take things slowly and learn along the way, such as putting in less litter in the kit, adding a small stool and giving treats after each successful attempt. And look how far that has come!

For most of us, it is our first time training our cats, so don't be too harsh on yourself or them! You've got this 💪

A bit more details on how to 'Observe & Adapt'...

As you know, the UrbanKitty™ Training Kit works because of Successive Approximation - a training method that helps break down tasks into smaller sequences for your pet!

It is designed to TRANSITION your cat from the litter box to the toilet, slowly but surely. To do that efficiently, it will be useful if you would observe their usual behavior!

🧶 Signal when they are about to use the toilet. Some cats will prance up and down, some may scratch their poles, while some may start meowing louder than usual. It all depends!

🕚 Toilet Timing, so you will know when to go and encourage them or help them to flush after use

🔗 Favorite Rewards or rather what they react most/ best to. This may be showing them more attention, giving treats or words of encouragement.

So many questions on this! Our advice - Try Again! 💪

This time do it slightly differently by following these 3 simple steps!
1️⃣ Take your time, while keeping the end-goal in mind. Slowly, and surely you and your cat will get there!

2️⃣ Encourage, shower love and attention, and give treats whenever your cat does it correctly! We want to create a positive connection with using the toilet! If something goes wrong, take it with a sense of humor and move on...

3️⃣ Which leads us to observing and adapting your cats behavior. You are now a trainer, and you need to know your cat's behavioral patterns, such as the signs before they use the toilet, the usual timings, and which positive reinforcement they react best to!

So many questions and myths to debunk!

All cats can be trained, but not all of them are suitable for toilet training!

🐈 Age and size of your cat matters a lot. If your cat is less than 3 months old, wait for them to grow in size first before attempting to train them. Additionally, if your cat is experiencing joint conditions which brings stress to the joints when jumping high, you will have to consider if this transition is worth it.

🏠 Only for domesticated cats who have been using the litter box. We will not recommend training cats, who are used to roaming and doing their business outside. Only for the Urban Kitties!
