URGENT: Addressing False Rumors About Cleo & Ashley

It has come to our attention that there are rumors and blatant lies circulating about Cleo and Ashley, the sweet cats we are trying to find a home for. Some are falsely claiming that they will be put down at the end of the month—this is absolutely NOT true.

Friends of Ferals is a pro-life organisation. If Cleo and Ashley do not find a home before their current owner moves, they will be coming into our shelter’s care. We are trying to find homes for them because their Dad died, and their Mom is having to make a difficult move into a bedsit where animals are not allowed.

📢 EVENT POSTPONED 📢

We’re sad to announce that we have to postpone our Valentine’s event, Love Is A 4-Legged Word, originally planned for this Saturday. Ongoing electricity issues in the area have made it difficult to function efficiently, or store essential medication for our cats, let alone keep food and refreshments fresh for the event day. Unfortunately, we don’t expect the situation to improve in time for Saturday.

We hope to reschedule once things have settled, and we’ll share updates as soon as we can. Thank you for your understanding and support—we can’t wait to see you all soon!

CLEO AND ASHLEY

Meet stunning Cleo (calico) and beautiful Ashley (grey female).

We are looking for a loving, calm, and dog-free home for these two healthy and lovable sisters, who will soon be nine years old.

Cleo is very attached to her human mummy, is interactive and lovable, and her favourite place to sleep is above her mummy’s head. She loves suckling on her fluffy blanket while making biscuits.

Ashley is more independent, yet she is calm, gentle, lovable, and interactive. She even enjoys accompanying her mummy on morning walks.

These bonded, adorable adults lost their daddy when he passed away, and their mum now has to move into a bedsit where animals are not allowed.

It is always heartbreaking when tragedy strikes a couple and the surviving spouse is forced to surrender the family’s long-time beloved pets.

Ideally, we would love the sisters to be rehomed from their present home, as they would not easily settle into shelter life.

Home needed for 2 cats

Apollo. Hybrid between a dog and cat, as he is very loving and affectionate and enjoys being around people.

Freyja. Independant, strong willed and loyal beyond measure. Loves spending time layzing around in the sun and being living her highness life.

Both are mainly indoor but have full access to the outdoors. Reason for rehoming is due to severe allergies causing risk to physical health.

GERALD AND ASSAM

Gerald and Assam are still looking for their forever homes! The last of their litters, as their siblings have all been adopted, and now they are looking for a chance of love and happiness.

Gerald is very curious and adventurous, although shy around new people, he loves a good playtime session. He prefers play over cuddles, but will happily curl up on your lap when he’s had enough of playing.

Assam is an active little boy, and misses playtime with his siblings. He loves to explore new things, including new people, and would suit a household with other cats.

LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS

Do you love cats and have some extra time on your hands? 🐱

We’re looking for dedicated volunteers with hands-on cat experience to join our team! If you can commit to at least 2 days a month working directly with our many shelter rescues, we’d love to hear from you.

Requirements:
* Experience with administering medication and supplements to cats
* Own reliable transport
* A team player attitude, willing to collaborate with others
* Passion for working with cats and assessing their general wellness

ADOPT NINA AND NIMO

Nina and Nimo came to us last year when a woman dumped them at the vet after we offered to cover the sterilisation of the feral 14 week old kittens.

We had originally declined taking in the feral kittens because they were already 14+ weeks old, which is generally too old to tame in a shelter environment, due to the need for constant daily interaction. Unfortunately, we don’t have the manpower to provide that.

Then, with no option but to carry on, it took our shelter team several months to rehabilitate and socialise the abandoned kittens into the sweet cats they are today.

Nina is the more confident of the siblings, first to come out and greet visitors and for some love and play, while Nimo is shy and assesses the situation first…. But he also can’t resist a wand toy!

This beautiful bonded tabby pair, with their amazing green eyes, would love a chance at a home to get the love and attention they so deserve.

SELDOVIA AND JUNEAU

These adorable 1-year-old siblings are still searching for their forever homes! They’ve been lovingly fostered for a whole year, and we’d hate for them to ever go back to a shelter after experiencing a warm, loving home.

✨ Seldovia: This sweet girl is quite the character! She darts over every time she hears the treat packet crinkle and she’s a lovable cuddlebug who enjoys affection and companionship.

✨ Juneau: Though initially shy, Juneau has made great progress and loves to explore and climb. He’s now much more relaxed and loves to show his playful, curious side more often.

These sweethearts are well socialized, calm, and would be perfect additions to any home, either together or individually. They deserve a life filled with love, treats, and cuddles—could that be with you?

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

From the FOF family to your family, we wish you a Happy New Year and a year filled with happiness, love, health, and prosperity.

New beginnings, like the promise of spring, always bring with them renewed hope, freshness, and the promise of growth.

We’re excited about the year ahead as we continue to grow and expand our network to assist more of the public and the voiceless in making a difference.

Together, we accomplished so much in numerous areas of rescue in 2024. Thank you to each supporter and friend for walking this road with us.

THE SUNSET OF 2024

As the year draws to a close, we reflect on the past 12 months of achievements, joys, and sorrows, as well as the many new friends and supporters we have gained.

The 23rd of December marked our final rescue of 2024: a tame, abandoned mother cat, her older lookalike teenager, and her one surviving five-week-old kitten. This brings the total number of kittens and cats we have provided a haven for at our shelter in 2024 to 69. We achieved a total of 52 adoptions and an impressive 209 sterilisations.

None of this would have been possible without the generous and dedicated support of those who believe in us, our mission, and our work in rescue.

With deep gratitude, the FOF Team thanks each supporter and friend for standing with us through the tough times and making a difference to every life we touched.
